Mark Zuckerberg Criticized For Wearing Hoodie to Investor Meetings

This is probably not what Geraldo Rivera meant. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly not impressed investors with his business savvy this week, and his signature hoodie has become emblematic of some long-held criticisms plaguing the online wunderkind. In New York to woo investors for Facebook’s IPO, Zuckerberg hasn’t won over fans , fueling long-held rumors that for all his technical, innovative brilliance, Mark is an aloof, awkward guy who can’t get it together for the suits. He shows up late for meetings or not at all. And when he does make it, his laid-back outfits (see above) haven’t helped, coming off as shlubby. “Mark and his signature hoodie: He’s actually showing investors he doesn’t care that much; he’s just going to be him,” Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Securities said in an interview on Bloomberg TV. “I think that’s a mark of immaturity. I think that he has to realize he’s bringing investors in as a new constituency right now, and I think he’s got to show them the respect that they deserve because he’s asking them for money.” Hoodies seem to have a lot of “meaning” these days, as we know, but this is a new spin. What do you think? Should Zuck wear ’em to meetings?

Bad Boy Rapper Los Dedicates New Single To Trayvon Martin

Diddy urges fans to retweet link to rapper’s ‘Wit My Hoodie On’ tribute track. By Rob Markman Trayvon Martin Photo: AP The tragic shooting death of Trayvon Martin has led a number of prominent hip-hop artists to speak out. On last week’s “RapFix Live,” Nas , Bun B, Killer Mike and Prodigy all expressed their views on the Florida teen’s death at the hands of neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman. The discussion around Martin, who was wearing a hoodie when he was killed, has also led to protests, televised debates and songs dedicated to young Trayvon. The latest of such singles comes from Diddy signee Los . On Sunday night, the Bad Boy mogul tweeted the link to Los’ “Wit My Hoodie On” and urged his followers to retweet it to the world. The Baltimore MC begins the somber, violin-laced track saying, “I just came here tonight to celebrate the life of Trayvon Martin. Put your hoodie on.” Los’ track was released eight days after Plies dropped his dedication, “We Are Trayvon,” in what seems to be a growing trend. On “Wit My Hoodie On,” Swagger Boy Los goes on to compare the Trayvon tragedy to his own troubles. He begins the first verse recalling the murder of his father 15 years ago and the effect it has had on his life. Toward the second half of the verse, Los brings it back full-circle, spitting, “I’m wrestling for this one shot/ Feeling like Trayvon on the lawn before the gunshot/ I ain’t gettin’ my up-to-no-good on/ They just wanna kill me, because I put my hood on.” The song’s hook is an ode to the hoodie, a fashion staple and now a symbolic representation of Trayvon’s gripping death. “I ride (with my hoodie on), I hustle (with my hoodie on)/ Damn right, I represent the struggle (with my hoodie on).” Veteran news reporter Geraldo Rivera recently said that he believed “the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman.” But on Sunday night, Rivera apologized to Martin’s parents when they appeared on his Fox News show. Trayvon’s dad, Tracy Martin, accepted Rivera’s apology and took a moment to clarify why his son was actually wearing the sweatshirt. “Your apology is accepted,” he said . “Let me just add one thing with the wearing of the hoodie. I don’t think America knows that, in fact, at the time of the incident when he initially made the call, it was raining. So Trayvon had every right to have on his hood. He was protecting himself from the rain. “So if being suspicious, walking in the rain with your hoodie on is a crime, then I guess the world is doing something wrong.” What do you think of Los’ “Wit My Hoodie On”? Trayvon Martin’s Hoodie Is Not The Issue, Rappers Say

‘People are starting to identify this culture of people by their clothing … and that’s simply not fair,’ Bun B says on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with additional reporting by Sway Calloway Trayvon Martin Photo: AP In the aftermath of the tragic shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin , the outraged public has latched on to a few symbolic items. When he was shot, young Trayvon was wearing a hooded sweatshirt on his way home from a store where he bought iced tea and a bag of Skittles. It was the hoodie that gunman George Zimmerman told police made the 17-year-old appear suspicious and in support of Martin, demonstrators have donned hoodies as a show of solidarity. Others have even gone as far to suggest that the hood that Martin was wearing in some ways contributed to his death. During a televised Fox News broadcast veteran journalist Geraldo Rivera argued parents not to allow their black and Latino children to wear hoodies. “I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman was,” he reasoned. “The hoodie is something that we see all over America and all over the world,” Bun B said in response on Wednesday’s episode of “RapFix Live.” “People are starting to identify this culture of people by their clothing and starting to attribute certain things by the way they dress and that’s simply not fair.” Illinois congressman Bobby Rush was removed from the House floor after he protested Martin’s murder by wearing a hood over his head. “Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum,” he said. Rather than focus on the article of clothing that Trayvon was wearing when he was gunned down, Mississippi rapper and producer David Banner looks at what he feels is the deeper issue. “America is showing young black men: If you don’t make us comfortable around you, we will kill you,” he told MTV News on March 29. “As much as people don’t want to admit it, that’s what this is about.” Banner urged Martin supporters to not focus on the clothes Martin was wearing, but rather the issue at large. Hoodie or not, he said black men are often the target, citing the 2009 police shooting of Oscar Grant and the 1991 LAPD beating of Rodney King as examples. Instead, Banner urges demonstrators to focus their energy to change legislation that ensures that young black men like Martin are protected from corrupt police and overzealous authority figures. “If we don’t find what that is after this is no longer a trending topic, then we just lost another child again,” he said. Stars of The Hunger Games Speak on Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence bares every emotion possible in The Hunger Games : fear, confidence, exuberance, sadness. She also bared her naked body the first time she met Zoe Kravitz, whose father stars in the blockbuster film as fashion guru Cinna. “I’d met her a few times, and she was like, ‘You should come over and we’ll hang out,'” Zoe tells Rolling Ston e. “So I go over to her apartment, and she opens the door in a towel. She’s like, ‘Come in, sorry, you’re early, I was about to shower.’ And she drops her towel and gets in the shower, and starts shaving her legs, totally naked. She was like, ‘Are we here yet? Is this OK?’ And I was like, ‘I guess we’re there!’” Lawrence apparently made quite the first impression on two others associated with the movie, too. Says Woody Harrelson of their initial meeting: “I was on my bus, and on my bus I have a yoga swing. Jennifer comes on, and she goes, ‘Hi, Woody, I’m J— is that a sex swing?’ Her first sentence to me.” And then there’s this tale from Josh Hutcherson : “When I got cast, she called me up for one of those five-minute ‘Excited to work with you, blah, blah, blah’ things. The conversation started with her saying, ‘Think about a catheter going in – ouch!’ and then turns into a 45-minute rant about zombies and the apocalypse.”

Jersey Shore: Looking to Phase Out Snooki and The Situation?

With Snooki pregnant and engaged (!) and The Situation in rehab, the producers of Jersey Shore are obviously concerned. For the stars, sure, but mostly for the show. Apparently they are worried the show will lose its edge – being a show about a bunch of drunk, sex-crazed rowdies – and are looking to phase the two out. Newer, crazier cast members are apparently being sought. MTV released a statement earlier this week, after Mike admitted his substance abuse problem , claiming it expects the entire cast to return for Season 6. However, sources close to 495 Productions say the company is quite concerned about the recent events and wants to keep things fresh above all else. If that means bringing in new JS cast members to help transition the show into a new generation, while still keeping old fans hooked, then so be it. 495 plans to limit Snooki and Situation’s roles on the new season, giving the new cast members more screen time instead. Filming begins this summer. Would you watch Jersey Shore without Snooki and Mike?

Geraldo Rivera: Trayvon Martin Made Himself a Target With Hooded Sweatshirt

Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera stunned viewers with remarks about the Trayvon Martin case , saying that by wearing a hooded sweatshirt, the slain teen made himself a target. Martin, the 14-year-old candy-carrying, hoodie-wearing African-American boy, was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a Sanford, Fla., neighborhood watch captain. He was walking home from a 7-Eleven and was unarmed. Zimmerman, who claimed self defense, has not been charged, though a grand jury will hear the case . Martin supporters participated in a “Million Hoodie March” to protest Zimmerman’s freedom. But the hoodie has taken on new meaning thanks to Geraldo. Geraldo Rivera on Trayvon Martin “When you see a kid walking down the street, particularly dark-skinned kid like my son Cruz – who I constantly yelled at when he was going out wearing a damn hoodie or those pants around his ankles, ‘Take that hood off!'” Rivera said on Fox & Friends. “People look at you, and what’s the instant identification, what’s the instant association? It’s those crime-scene surveillance tapes.” “Every time you see someone stickin’ up a 7-Eleven, the kid’s wearing a hoodie,” Rivera continued. “Every time you see a mugging on a surveillance camera or they get that old lady in the alcove, it’s a kid wearing a hoodie.” “You have to recognize that this whole stylizing yourself as a ‘gangsta’ … You’re gonna be a gangsta wannabe? Well, people are going to perceive you as a menace. That’s just what happens. It is an instant reflexive action.” The negative reaction to this was fast and furious. Many viewers claimed this was a call for a dress code for minorities, or equivalent to saying women who wear revealing clothes are asking to be raped. Questlove sent a long series of Tweets at Rivera, including: “sorry @GeraldoRivera, what i gotta stroll around rocking a tux 24 7 so i can put others who are ignorant at ease? what about the OTHER side of that coin?” With more brevity but just as much furor, Parks & Recreation star Aziz Ansari said, “It’s really appropriate to tweet this any day, but seriously, F–k you Geraldo.” Rivera followed up on Twitter, defending his position: “My own son just wrote to say he’s ashamed of my position re hoodies – still I feel parents must do whatever they can to keep their kids safe,” he wrote. “Its not blaming the victim Its common sense-look like a gangsta&some armed schmuck will take you at your word… Its sad that I have to be the one reminding minority parents of the risk that comes with being a kid of color in America.” Do you agree with Geraldo’s comments on Trayvon Martin?
