SplashNews.com Raye Jean Montague Passes Away A brilliant woman lauded as the “Arkansas Hidden Figure” has passed. Raye Jean Montague of Pine Bluff, Arkansas died Tuesday at 83. She like Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson who were the “Hidden Figures” of NASA’s John Glenn launch , excelled in fields of STEM. Montague was an internationally-registered professional engineer and created the first computer-generated rough draft of a U.S. Naval ship. Montague appeared on “ Good Morning America” last year with Janelle Monae to discuss her accomplishments and told host Robin Roberts what it was like to excel despite living in the segregated south. “I’m known as the first person to design a ship using the computer,” said Montague. And I was the first female program manager of ships in the history of the Navy, which was the equivalent of being a CEO of a company.” Montague attended the Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical and Normal School now known as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, an HBCU. She originally planned to attend the engineering school at the University of Arkansas but they did not accept black people at the time. In addition to being a trailblazing engineer, Montague was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the first sorority founded by African-American women. The sorority recognized her passing this week with a special message and sent condolences to her chapter, Beta Pi Omega in Little Rock, Arkansas. The sketch comedy show once again had Alec Baldwin play Trump while Chris Redd played an exceptionally kooky Kanye. A C-Span introduction noted that the two discussed prison reform, education, alternate universes and flying cars before “Trump” introduced Kanye and downed rumors that this was a publicity stunt. Baldwin: “Thank you all for joining us today for this important discussion. It’s in no way a publicity stunt. This is a serious, private conversation between three friends, plus 50 reporters with cameras.” Redd: “Yeah, that’s right. I flew here using the power of this hat.” Baldwin: “And Kanye, I want to thank you for giving me a pair of your sneakers. They’re perfect for me because they’re white, they’re wide, and they’re never going to be worth as much as you say they are. I’m sure that Kanye wants to make one or two brief, lucid remarks. Kelly’s alleged victims are deciding to take matters into their own hands. Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage, the parents of Jocelyn Savage, who have accused the singer of holding their daughter hostage-have reportedly created an “abuse hotline” for other victims like their daughter who claim they have been victimized by Kelly. According to Vibe , the hotline was set up after the Savages were contacted by over 80 women or their parents claiming that they have also unwillingly had sexual/violent interactions with R. Kelly from over the years. Savage’s mother has been screening messages left on the hotline to filter out prank calls and documenting the more serious offenses.
Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images 50 Cent Signs A Huge Overall Deal With Starz 50 Cent continues to secure his spot as a legend in the industry. On October 11, the folks over at Variety reported that 50 had signed a four-year overall deal with Starz, the production company that has been producing the hit TV series Power with Mr. Cent since 2014. According to the publication, the deal could be worth as much as $150 million. The new deal will see 50 Cent work through G-Unit Film & Television, Inc. to develop “scripted and unscripted content” for the Lionsgate-owned company. The deal includes a three-series commitment and gives him complete access to all of Starz’s platforms. While speaking on the matter, the rapper and mogul made it clear he’s excited about the deal, which also grants him a say in “the merchandising and licensing of brands and content developed by G-Unit.” “When I sat down with Chris [Albrecht, Starz CEO] and walked him through my plans for G-Unit Film & Television going forward, he let me know I was essentially requesting the biggest deal in premium cable history,” said the G-Unit boss. “I am excited to announce that we’ve made that partnership between myself, G-Unit Film & Television and Starz/Lionsgate and we will continue our proven track record of breaking records and delivering unique content for audiences around the world … Get The Strap.” This news comes almost 1 year after it was reported that 50 had signed an eight-figure deal with Starz. As of now, it’s unclear whether or not this deal is related to the one he signed recently–but either way, he’s making bank.
