Michelle Duggar has come out and admitted that she suffered from bulimia as a teenager. The revelation about this reality star is actually shared in a book by her daughters – “Growing Up Duggar ” – which comes out March 4 and which initially disguises their mother’s struggles belonging to someone named “Marie.” “On the outside, Marie had what everyone else wanted, but on the inside, she felt sad and empty,” Jane, Jill, Jessa and Jinger write, adding: “She began to envy the girl who tried to control her weight through what turned out to be a destructive eating disorder. Not realizing how dangerous it was, Marie thought it might work for her, and soon her obsession to stay thin started controlling her life.” Many celebrities, of course, have battled eating disorders over the years. Demi Lovato checked into rehab for hers and Ke$ha is currently receiving professional help for one. As a teen, Michelle struggled for “self-acceptance,” according to the book, and it “led her into some difficult emotional times and a very destructive habit that could have destroyed her health.” Michelle and Bob Duggar are the parents of 19 kids and have shared chronicled their lives on TLC for many years. “I have been open with my struggles with the kids before,” Duggar tells People. “We talk about how God has brought us out of different things along life’s way. When the girls were writing their book, they brought this up and I thought, if my sharing it is going to help another young lady, then I want to share it.” Michelle says that she would spend three hours per day doing cheerleading and gymnastics a a student, but the weight remained and she would therefore force herself to vomit after many meals. She met and fell in love with Bob when she was 17 and she was open with him about her disorder as soon as her feelings became real. “I would call him,” Michelle says. “He told me to call him anytime. I just know that I would be tempted and I would have the crazy thought that I wanted to throw up, not hold onto the calories. Thank God it didn’t go on longer than it did or I could have done horrible damage to my body.” Duggar says she is now healthy and gives credits to Weight Watchers – chiefly its methods of accountability – for maintaining pounds in a healthy way. “That solid accountability with another human being, a deep love and strong focus, was where I found freedom,” she says. “I was willing to be accountable before God and man. But the struggle was still there. That accountability was powerful.”
Katherine Heigl’s career is not what it used to be. The actress is set to star in the independent film Jenny’s Wedding … provided it can get funding. Producers for the Mary Agnes Donoghue-directed project have created an Indiegogo campaign, asking for donations to reach a goal of $150,000. “How’s the funding going?” TMZ asked the former Grey’s Anatomy star. “If your movie doesn’t getting the funding … would you be willing to fill in the extra amount?” “I haven’t made that much in the last few years, man,” said Heigl, who has two little kids with her husband Josh Kelley. “I gotta support my family.” According to the San Francisco-based crowdfunding site, Katherine’s would-be film has only raised $32,311 so far since it started on February 11. While many sources have jumped on that comment as evidence that Heigl is having financial problems, that’s probably unlikely, given her resume. Back in September, multiple film and TV insiders told the Hollywood Reporter that Heigl earned $12 million for her role in 2010’s Life as We Know It . Of course, she’s also been blacklisted by TV and movie industry insiders over her diva-like behavior, so who knows how little she’s made since. Heigl has finished shooting Jenny’s Wedding , which tells the story of Jenny Farrell (Heigl), who tells her conservative family that she’s a lesbian. The force may soon be with Adam Driver. In a surprising piece of casting news broken by Variety, the Girls star is nearing a deal to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII as that blockbuster’s main villain. Details on the role are vague at the moment, but character is said to be “in the vein” of Darth Vader . Driver was a relative no-name prior to being cast opposite Lena Dunham as Hannah’s boyfriend on Girls. But he is currently shooting Warner Bros.’ “Midnight Special” and is attached to Martin Scorsese’s “Silence” (also starring Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson) and his stock is clearly on the rise. If this report is accurate, Driver will be the first new cast member to be revealed for this wildly-anticipated follow-up. It will be directed by J.J. Abrams and released in theaters on December 18, 2015. Look for a deal with Driver, and other additions to the franchise, to be finalized over the coming weeks.

Two dozen workers formed a massive heart and skied down the halfpipe in honor of the late Sarah Burke, a champion freestyle skier, at the Sochi Olympics. The halfpipe pioneer died after a training accident in 2012 and had been instrumental in elevating women’s freestyle skiing to this global Olympic platform. This was the skiing community’s way of saying thank you: Burke’s husband, Rory Bushfield, and parents, Gord Burke and Jan Phelan, were there to see the result of her hard work, and were moved by the tribute. “Sarah has inspired us on snow and off snow, and she would have been very proud of how all of the girls rode tonight,” gold medalist Maddie Bowman of the U.S. said. “I sure hope that I and everyone else made her proud.” Burke’s father, Gord, told reporters after seeing the tribute that he couldn’t have imagined witnessing “so much love for one person. So much passion and energy.” Bowman said of Burke , who she met years ago, was “the coolest moment” of her life. France’s Marie Martinod also credited Burke with renewing her love of skiing. At the end of her second-place run today, she pointed to the sky and formed a heart with her hands for her former competitor and permanent inspiration. Bronze medalist Ayana Onozuka of Japan said that she was an Alpine skier before watching Burke inspired her to “take up a new profession.” Canada’s Rosalind Groenewoud, who finished seventh, said that she wished that the late Sarah Burke “could have won tonight if it wasn’t me.”

In one of our favorite tabloid reports of 2014 thus far, Selena Gomez has recruited Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift in a plan to “take down” Miley Cyrus. You’re not even gonna believe why, THGers. Actually, maybe you will. Life & Style claims Lovato and Swift are helping Gomez “plot revenge” against Cyrus for – yes hooking up with Justin Bieber – while he was dating Gomez. A purported Gomez “insider” quoted by the magazine says, “Both Taylor and Demi know how heartbroken Selena’s been, and hate what Miley did to her.” Adds the source of the alleged alliance, “All four girls used to be friendly, but when Selena heard Miley started making moves on Justin, it went downhill.” Of course, it’s very much unclear if that ever happened … but whatever. If you except this hilarious story as even remotely true, which is a major stretch, how are they planning this supposedly epic takedown of Miley Cyrus? “By refusing to attend the same parties and club events as Miley, and trash talking her to anyone who’ll listen,” for starters, they hope to end her reign. My name is Mackenzie, and I’m seventeen. I’ve been a Belieber, like so many, since 2009 and it’s been the greatest journey I’ve ever been on. I saw Justin in concert for the first time on July 3rd, 2010 in Omaha, NE. Since that day I was determined to meet him. Then in June 2012 the Believe Tour dates were announced and there wasn’t a concert here, so I asked my mom if I could go to Kansas City, MO for the Oct. 26th show which happened to be my birthday (Best Birthday EVER)! We tried to get meet and greets, but they sold out before we could. Then in December his second leg was announced and I called my mom screaming. I had to meet him this time in Omaha. Well we couldn’t get tickets or meet and greets. I was crushed. June came around and a radio station was giving away tickets to 10 people and meet and greets to two. The first day I sat by the radio and called at every “sounder”. Finally, 34 calls later, I was put in for the drawing the next day. I got called at 6:30 a.m. being announced on the radio that I WON! I screamed and cried that whole day. Two weeks past and they were finally drawing for the meet and greets. They called the first person and…..it wasn’t me. An hour past and they started dialing the number on the radio and then my phone rang. I jumped up and answered. I was ACTUALLY meeting Justin on July 6th, 2013! The day came and I woke up extremely excited. We got there about three hours early and I talked to a lot of other girls. My best friend Alexis (who I decided to bring) and I got our wristbands and waited and waited and waited for security to take us downstairs. Once they took us downstairs they told us to get in groups of 6. We got closer and it started to actually hit me that I was meeting Justin, the person who could always make me feel better. I was the first one to walk in the curtain and I was amazed at how Justin looked in person. I stood right next to him and it took everyone a little bit to rearrange so I talked to him! I told him he smelled really good and he said, “Thanks Beautiful” and smiled. The camera guy had to call his name twice to get him to look back. Before I left he pulled me into a hug and I started crying and he whispered, “Don’t cry sweetie.” That made me cry even more! It was by far the greatest day of my life and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity!
