Ya Can’t Spell Pimp Without An Imp: “Game Of Thrones” Actor Balks About Being A Sex Symbol [Video]

Hope y’all haven’t been sleepin’ on this show cuz it’s one of our faves. If you have been watching “Game of Thrones” then you know that Tyrion Lannister gets more chop down action than pretty much any other character — hence the sex symbol label. Via People reports : “Game of Thrones fans are the nicest people ever, but a thousand nice people coming at me gives me claustrophobia,” actor Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s hit fantasy series, tells Playboy in a new interview. “I can’t wear a pair of sunglasses and pull my hat down and just disappear. I’m 4½ feet tall, so I sort of stand out.” Lately, Dinklage, 43, is standing out as a sex symbol, a status he says he takes “with a grain of salt.” “They’ll say, ‘Oh, he’s sexy,’ but women still go for guys who are 6’2,” he says in the mag’s new issue, on newsstands Friday. “It’s nice that people are thinking outside the box, but I don’t believe any of it for a minute.” But that recognition may be marketable, after all – in the form of a fragrance, which Dinklage says he’ll call Midgeté Midgeté. (Though Dinklage says the M word is “like the N world among short-statured people,” “some of us have made it our own. We add an e with an accent at the end.”) “I have a friend – not a dwarf – who’s an alchemist of sorts. He concocted a men’s cologne … He gave me a bottle as a gift. I was thinking, we should totally put this on the market. You know how Jessica Simpson and Beyoncé have signature perfumes and make a mint? I’m thinking this cologne could be my ticket to fortune.” Another problem only the biggest Hollywood stars face? Recognizing the VIPs when you’re in their midst. “I apparently brushed off Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on my way to the stage,” he says of winning a Golden Globe in 2012, when he spoke about an actor who was injured in a dwarf-tossing incident in his acceptance speech. “When you’re in that moment and you’re about to accept an award and you have no idea what you’re going to say, you don’t notice that Brad and Angelina are reaching out to say hello,” Dinklage says. “All I saw was a sea of people I needed to get through. Friends don’t care about issues like dwarf tossing. They only care about ‘Dude, you dissed Brangelina.’ “ Did y’all know that “midget” was a bad word? Apparently dwarf or little person is more acceptable. Peter Dinklage is an amazing actor though. We’re glad he’s finding so much success these days. Amy Poehler Responds to Taylor Swift, Acknowledges Trip to Hell

Amy Poehler has done her best to diffuse any potential feud between herself and Taylor Swift . With that singer telling Vanity Fair in its latest issue that Poehler and Tina Fey are bound for Hell after they mocked her love life at the Golden Globe Awards, the actress has responded in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter. “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl,” Poehler said . “That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.” Point, Amy Poehler. Viola Davis On Maids In Movies: “People Need To See An African-American In The 21st Century Who Is Not In Servitude!”

Heck No, Them Maid Roles Gotta Go! Just in case you didn’t believe her the first time she said it, Viola Davis is speaking up LOUDLY about how modern cinema needs to portray black people — as something other than maids and slaves! Via Salon.com : Viola Davis, nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for her role as a maid in the Civil Rights Era-set movie, “The Help,” will most likely never play a maid again. She recently told CNN, “I’m tired of that,” explaining, “Me and Octavia [Spencer], Aunjanue Ellis, Roslyn Ruff – we all played maids in ‘The Help’ and it was fabulous. It’s a fabulous story because we were personalized and all of those things, but I think that people need to see an African American in the 21st century integrated in the life of this town and family who’s not in servitude.” Except that in “Beautiful Creatures,” the book that Davis’s next movie is based upon, her character Amma is, again, a maid. She told the Hollywood Reporter that “[Director] Richard LaGravenese forbade us from reading the book. He said, “Do not touch the book.” (Naturally, Davis then got the book). “I read half of it and then I put it down because Amma is a maid, and I just said, ‘Ok, there’s nothing I can learn from this.’ ” But then LaGravenese changed the character for the film adaptation, who became a hybrid of Amma and a local librarian who has magical powers. Davis called it “a total reimagining of the character,” and said that even though it veers from the original text, the change makes sense in the greater context of the movie: “I’m going to be confident and bold and say I like it because, listen, I understand and I respect the book and I think the book is wonderful but this is 2013 and I think that when black people are woven into the lives of characters in 2013, then I think they play other roles than maids. I think that that needs to be explored and I hope that the audience is willing to suspend their disbelief and embrace what Richard LaGravenese has given them.” The movie explores the budding romance between Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchaness (Alice Englert), a mysterious newcomer with supernatural powers, set in a fictional South Carolina town. So basically she’s a maid who got promoted to a librarian with magic powers? AND they still made her wear dashikis — so is that really any better? We realize this is no joking matter and we’re glad Viola Davis has finally come to her senses. Black actresses have played enough maids for all time. They’ve also played enough hoes and dope dealers. When will Hollywood get the memo though?
