Spider-Man Will Use ‘Device’ To Shoot Webs, Emma Stone Says

Golden Globe nominee reveals change to MTV News on red carpet after first-look photo hints at modification to Spidey’s costume. By Eric Ditzian Emma Stone Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty After the geeky shock of seeing Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man for the first time wore off, savvy observers noticed a potentially huge clue hidden within the newly released first-look photo from Sony Pictures: Garfield’s boy wonder seemed to be sporting metal discs on his wrists, suggesting that he employs a mechanical device to shoot webs, rather than organically emitting them from his body. That would mean a sharp break from previous “Spider-Man” films — Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker shot webs directly from his wrists — but one that’s still in keeping with established comics lore. Recent story lines have shown both a Spidey with web-shooters and a Spidey able to naturally shoot webs on his own. The new photo, while tantalizing, offered no firm proof either way.

Diddy Looking For Comedies After ‘Get Him To The Greek’

‘I really fell in love with making people laugh,’ he says at Golden Globes. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Diddy Photo: MTV News While his turn as a hilariously foul-mouthed record executive in “Get Him to the Greek” didn’t earn Diddy a Golden Globe nomination, there’s no doubting that the multitalented star delivered one of the year’s most satisfying — and surprising — scene-stealing comedic performances. Who knew the guy was so freaking funny? Well, his co-stars certainly did. “We were saying Diddy’s kind of the McLovin of ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ ” Jonah Hill told MTV News before the film’s release. “You don’t know what he’s going to do. Every time he breathes in the movie, it garners a huge laugh.” Hollywood comedy guru Judd Apatow , who produced the flick, said, “He was riotously funny. As a man with one skill, I was annoyed that he was also funny. You shouldn’t be allowed to be good at so many things.” Hill and Apatow weren’t kidding. And as it turned out, moviegoers weren’t the only ones digging Diddy’s comedic stylings: Diddy himself was a pretty big fan too. That’s why he’ll be looking to find his way into more laughers in the future. “I’ve done a lot of drama mostly my whole career, with Broadway and ‘Monster’s Ball’ and stuff like that — my short little career. But when I did ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ I really fell in love with making people laugh,” he told us on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 16). “I have a knack for improvisation, and hopefully I’ll be able to make people laugh more.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! Golden Globes Reward Onscreen Nudity, Girl-on-Girl

At the Golden Globes last night, Hollywood must have finally figured out what Mr. Skin has been screaming at the top of his lungs for over a decade: Movies must always be about nudity and girl-on-girl sex. If you’re not going to put boobs in your movies, then go produce stage shows in Branson, Missouri. The Kids Are All Righ t beat out the competition for Best Musical or Comedy (including the supremely disappointing Burlesque ) because it’s full of naked knockerage and MILFtastic lesbian coupling. Likewise, Annette Benning won Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy because she appeared in a movie with naked chicks and made out with Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman won Best Actress in a Drama for making out with Mila Kunis and in the hopes that it would encourage her to do more nudity in the future. It even bleeds over into the Best Actor awards. Why do you think Paul Giamatti won for Barney’s Version ? Because it has T&A. It’s simple, Highly-Weird. If you want the Golden Globes, you’d better be showing us some.

‘Skins’ Premiere: Cast Tells Us What To Expect

Pilot episode airs Monday night (January 17) at 10 p.m. on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Sofia Black D’Elia as Tea on “Skins” Photo: Jason Nacito On Monday night (January 17), the American version of “Skins” kicks off. And with expectations high, since so many viewers stateside love the U.K. version of the sexy teen soap, the cast admits the pilot, which is basically a shot-for-shot remake of the original’s pilot, is really just a great tease for what’s to come. “For people who haven’t seen the U.K. version, it’s an introduction,” said James Newman, who plays “Skins” smooth-talker Tony. Britne Oldford, who plays Cadie on the show, explained: “The pilot is essentially … a parallel to the original version’s first episode. There are two episodes that are parallels, and then everything else is original, so it’s really … an introduction to all the characters, and hopefully after that, everyone will keep watching.” There’s plenty to watch for as complex characters deal with complex issues including substance abuse, divorce and jealousy, to name a few, but none of it is glamorized. In between the glossy party scenes, the characters deal with intense emotions and consequences. “I think the pilot is really an introduction to the characters, the whole rich people thing, the losing your virginity thing. All those storylines are kind of just this way of getting to know all of us,” said Sofia Black D’Elia, who plays Tea. “I’m actually more excited for audiences to see what happens afterward,” she continued. “It’s such an intro that you don’t really get a sense of what our show has become at this point now. At 10 episodes later, it’s so much different.” Don’t miss the premiere of “Skins” on Monday (January 17) at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Related Videos Skins | Sneak Peek Skins | Extended Trailers

Aziz Ansari Rates Golden Globes Host Ricky Gervais

‘It’s a tough job … I thought he was really funny,’ the MTV Movie Awards host said of Gervais’ emceeing performance on Sunday. By Kara Warner Aziz Ansari attends HBO’s 2011 Golden Globe Awards afterparty on Sunday Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais didn’t seem to pull any punches on Sunday during his second year emceeing the glamorous gathering of film and TV casts and crews. His opening monologue alone took shots at several of the biggest stars in attendance (“The Tourist” actors Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, to name two), and directed a few playful jabs at naughty absent ones (including Charlie Sheen). Still, no matter what you thought of Gervais’ performance, he did manage to keep the audience on the edge of their seat, since you never quite knew what outlandish comment was going to come out of his mouth next. Like when he introduced Bruce Willis as Ashton Kutcher’s dad, for example. MTV News caught up with another esteemed awards show host, Aziz Ansari , at the HBO’s Golden Globes afterparty, and we thought the comedian would be the perfect person to offer an opinion on Gervais’ jokes. “I thought he did a great job,” Ansari said. “Sometimes with these award shows it’s tough because the audiences are drinking and not really paying attention. It’s a tough job. I thought he did a great job. I thought he was really funny. I really enjoyed it.” We then brought up the fact that it’s lucky Ansari hosted the MTV Movie Awards, whose attendees are generally younger and not able to imbibe quite as heavily. “Yeah. Jaden Smith wasn’t doing tequila shots during the Movie Awards,” the “Parks and Recreation” star pointed out. So with the pool of people who’ve hosted awards show hosts not being a very large one, we asked Ansari if they have some special club or secret society. “Yeah, we hang out at TJ Maxx,” Ansari quipped. “Comedians are not cool. We don’t have anything cool, so we just go to TJ Maxx and drink from flasks and hang out.” Sounds like a party to us. We’ve got the Golden Globes covered!
