Tiger Woods: Advised By Presidents

Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton have both offered Tiger Woods encouragement while he’s been in rehab for sex addiction (and/or drug addiction ). Tiger has spoken with Obama and Clinton, Golf Digest ‘s Jaime Diaz says. One would think both have more important things to do, but hey, that’s great. Diaz also confirms Woods visited the Gentle Path clinic in Mississippi. Woods came in with a “whatever it takes” mentality, including on “Disclosure Day,” whereby patients reveal all of their past indiscretions to their spouse. So Elin heard about all Tiger Woods’ mistresses . Hope they ordered in breakfast, lunch and dinner, ’cause that therapy session couldn’t have been brief. Diaz also confirms that Elin Nordegren visited Woods at the clinic, and that the couple and their children spent Christmas together in Southern California. Woods’ mother is quoted in the article, and is described as “staunchly supportive of her son,” despite the damage his sex scandal has caused their family. Some other sites have made note of Tida Woods’ past interviews with Diaz and speculate that she could be the source of many of his piece’s revelations. But the most surprising item in the Golf Digest article is the news about Woods’ contact with two presidents. Clinton? Sure, dude’s pretty much been there. But President Obama also making a personal call to offer encouragement? Really, Barack? What do you have to offer, and why does he deserve your help? As for his return to golf, which remains up in the air after Woods’ apology speech, his mother says only following: “He will face himself, solve the problem.” “When he comes back, he will still love to play and love to win. I think more than ever, because his closet will be cleaned out and his mind will be free. And I know he will break [Jack Nicklaus’ record 18 major championships],” she says. That’s one thing we wouldn’t bet against.

Ludacris Says He And Tiger Woods Should Talk

‘Let’s go play some golf and talk about it,’ Atlanta MC says. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Ludacris and Sway Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — Ludacris poked fun at Tiger Woods’ sex scandal on the intro to his new track “Sexting” from his forthcoming Battle of the Sexes album (due March 9), intimidating the embattled golf star’s frantic voice mail to one of his alleged mistresses. But the Atlanta rapper said there are no hard feelings behind the jab. “If I’m making fun of Tiger Woods, I’m also making fun of myself,” Luda told MTV News from Madison Square Garden before he took the stage Wednesday (February 24). On the Neptunes-produced song, “Sexting,” Luda raps about his own tale of sex addiction. “My girl went through my cell phone,” he spits, explaining how he got caught. Throughout the track, the Luda-as-Tiger voice mail plays. Luda said the track is only a reflection of reality. “This is what happens,” he explained of the inspiration behind the song. “So I’m just bringing to light what’s really going on in the world .” So, does Luda have a take on Tiger’s message to his mistress? “It’s very entertaining,” he laughed. “And I do feel as though he may have handled it wrong.” Ludacris, however, said he’d offer Tiger some advice — especially if the golf legend feels slighted by song. “I would say, ‘Let’s go play some golf and talk about it,’ ” he offered. “I take that back — I’d say, ‘Let’s go to the sex-rehab place together and let’s discuss it. Let me know where your sex-rehab place is and I’ll let you know where mine is. We got some things to get off our chest.’ Related Artists Ludacris

Jake Pavelka: Ali Fedotowsky Was in the Lead

Ali Fedotowsky was Jake Pavelka’s leading candidate on The Bachelor before she voluntarily left to pursue a starring role on ABC’s The Bachelorette this summer. Oops, we mean to pursue her career back in “the real world.” In a new interview, Jake repeats his claim that the departed Ali was his “frontrunner” on the program before she was forced to choose between him and her job. Speaking to ET Online ahead of tonight’s Women Tell All special, Jake said of Ali Fedotowsky : “That night, when she left, she was ahead of all the other women.” “I can’t tell you if she was going to be The One, but, that night, if somebody had said, ‘Gun’s to your head. Pick a girl,’ it would have been her,” the pilot added. But, despite her not-at-all staged plea to return to the show approximately 12 minutes later, “we had a long way to go and I forced myself to close that book.” He says he did not invite Ali back when she requested to because he had already moved forward with the three remaining women. Not even a full episode later. “The transitions from hometowns to exotics, that’s where you really start to get intimate with them, and I’d already done that with all three of the women,” he said. Translation: He was getting so much tail in the fantasy suite on last week’s episode that it wasn’t fair to the other girls he was naked with at the time she called. It is truly astonishing just how much natural drama and spontaneous plot twists occur absolutely unscripted on The Bachelor . What are the chances of all this? Career girl Ali has to leave the show for her job … even though she presumably took time off to go on the show in the first place. All of a sudden it’s an issue? Then – what are the odds – when she returns to her hectic life at home, there’s a camera crew there to catch it all and she immediately regrets her decision. Ali can’t even bear to go on … you can always get a great job, but you can’t always find love on a reality TV show with a complete stiff like Jake Pavelka! She’s filled with “anxiety” and “can’t focus on work.” It’s tough, finding the work-life balance. As is scheduling time for all the talk show interviews she’s done. Anyway. Should Ali be the new star of The Bachelorette ?

Tiger Returns to Rehab, Elin Woods in Tow

One day after Tiger Woods’ public apology for cheating on wife Elin, he made good on his claim of returning for more treatment and therapy almost immediately. Tiger and Elin Woods spent time together Friday after his apology speech and Saturday afternoon before he flew out of the Orlando area late Saturday evening. It is believed Elin accompanied him on his flight aboard one of the golf legend’s private jets, which took off around 7 p.m., bound for a rehab center in Arizona. Previously, Tiger had been receiving in-patient care at Gentle Path in Hattiesburg, Miss. This time, Scottsdale, Ariz., is the destination, although only for a week. Elin Woods and their kids are with him, at least for now. “Elin may not stay the entire week with him,” a source said, noting that while relations have thawed somewhat. “She taking the marriage one day at a time .” Woods’ wife was not by his side at the big press conference Friday, but there has been progress made in their marriage, with more time spent as a family. “Tiger wants time with his family and he wants Elin to be part of his recovery,” the source said “He knows it’s a long road but he’s taking it one step at a time.” Tiger and Elin had dinner two nights in a row before Tiger’s televised speech, in which he went out of his way to praise Elin and tell America to leave her alone. Elin called off her divorce lawyer a while ago, but only on a temporary basis. She has told Tiger that doesn’t mean that she’s staying with him, reports suggest. She’s still not wearing her wedding ring, either. Was the golfer’s apology Friday enough? Will he, as he says, prove how sorry he is by his actions over time? Tiger Woods’ apology speech was …

Tiger Woods Buries Himself in Recovery Clichés

Tiger Woods spent 14 minutes this morning apologizing for, it seemed, practically everything he’s ever done. He may have just made things worse. His first mistake, of course, was waiting nearly three months to make his apology. But setting that aside, there is the issue of the actual apology, which was excruciating to watch. It was a string of clichés straight from a 12-step book. He took the blame, it’s true, but he sounded incredibly robotic and forced. (“The issue involved here was my repeated irresponsible behavior. I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did is not acceptable and I am the only person to blame.”) And the length of the speech worked against him; he should have stuck to the five minutes he was supposedly going to speak for. Because he ended up apologizing for things that people weren’t expecting, and lobbed some accusations that made him seem defensive. He said that the allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs were “completely and utterly false.” It reminded me of the old, “So when did you stop beating your wife?” question. No one would’ve been talking about performance-enhancing drugs today if he hadn’t brought it up. The other thing Tiger did that drove me crazy was his appeal to the paparazzi to stop harassing his family. “I still believe it is right to shield my family from the public spotlight. I have always tried to maintain a private space for my wife and children. They have been kept separate from my sponsors and my commercial endorsements,” he said. Which is a lie, as Don Van Natta of the Times pointed out on Twitter —Tiger was shown kissing his son in an ad for American Express. He also gave a shout-out to Accenture. Ew. Then there was the weird part where he brought up being raised a Buddhist (his mom looked distinctly uncomfortable at that point), but said he had “drifted away from it in recent years.” (No kidding.) Then he said, “Buddhism teaches that a craving for things outside ourselves causes an unhappy and pointless search for security. It teaches me to stop following every impulse and to learn restraint.” Again, this felt forced and false. The elephant(ess) in the room was clearly Elin, who wasn’t there but whose spectre hung over the proceedings. “Elin has shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. Elin deserves praise, not blame,” he said. Again—blame? Who was blaming Elin? From what I could tell, people sympathized with her. And her absence was telling. Think of how many men making apologies have had their wives at their sides—and not just politicians, either. Remember that when Kobe Bryant had to make his big apology, his wife Vanessa was at his side. Tiger also said that he wasn’t going to discuss whether he and Elin were going to stay together. Clearly he needs her more than she needs him.

Happy Birthday, Charlie Axel Woods!

Charlie Axel Woods turns a year old today. Let’s hope he isn’t old enough to use Google. After all, a search for Tiger Woods doesn’t exactly bring up what it once did. Charlie made his public debut ten days after he was born . The golfing and cheating great posted a photo (below) on his website of him holding and kissing his son, writing at the time: “Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Elin, Sam and I are very excited for the new baby to arrive, although that’s when the real lack of sleep begins.” Of course, as we now know, Tiger hadn’t actually been using a bed for sleeping in a very long time. Woods is rumored to return to the golf course in late March. Are you excited for him to come back? As you ponder that question, send Charlie birthday wishes today!
