It’s been a difficult year for Wendy Williams. But as is always the case with the daytime Queen of Mean, it can be difficult to sympathize with Wendy as she repeatedly makes things harder on herself. Back in January, Williams was hospitalized for a variety of health issues that kept her from her eponymous talk show for nearly two months. Though she’s made many, many enemies over the years, fans and rivals alike reached out to wish Wendy well during that difficult time. Of course, now that she’s back to work, she’s making up for lost time and reminding those rivals why they hated her in the first place. You want hot takes? Oh, Wendy’s got ’em. And she’s not just playing it safe by going after low-hanging fruit, either. No, Wendy is attacking the likes of Howard Stern — you know, the guy who single-handedly created the media landscape in which people like Wendy made their careers, and who’s still highly regarded for his razor-sharp and masterful trash-talking? What could go wrong? “Howard is so Hollywood right now. And Howard, I love you, but since you’ve gone Hollywood, everything you say is so predictable,” Williams said on her show this week. “Every story is going to be about, ‘Oh, I love this one, and then we went on their yacht.’ He’s a Hollywood insider, which sucks.” Williams went on to reveal that she feels personally betrayed by Stern’s transformation from fringe shock jock to mainstream media figure. “You started like me, being of the people. But at some point you sat behind the microphone for too long and now you are the people,” Williams went on, adding: “It hurts.” She’s not entirely wrong, but the problem is, criticizing Howard Stern is like releasing an Eminem diss track. Sure, the target of your derision may have mellowed in recent years, but you have to know he’s still capable of delivering the heat when he’s challenged. Stern didn’t disappoint and was quick to clap back at Wendy in brutal fashion: “Jealous bitch.… You are nobody to me,” Stern said during his Sirius XM radio show. “You’ll never be me, Wendy. You’ll never be me. You can pretend to be me, you can pretend to be like me, but you’re not,” he continued. “You don’t have my wit and you don’t have my talent. … You couldn’t have that career. You’re a fly.” We think it’s safe to call this round in favor of Stern, but we’re really hoping Williams fires back. It’s been a long and rocky road to reconciliation for Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus. As you may recall, Affleck and Shookus broke up when the Oscar winner spiraled out of control in September of 2018. (Fun fact: Ben has now starred in more meltdowns than Batman movies!) In recent weeks, we’ve been hearing persistent rumors that Ben and Lindsay are back together . The couple has yet to confirm those rumors, but they’ve been spending an awful lot of time together over the past month or so. There have even been reports that Lindsay is Ben’s “sobriety coach,” working hard to ensure that the freshly rehabbed star stays off sauce, and that he’s not tempted by being in the presence of others who are drinking heavily. That’s a lot to take in, and it’s the sort of thing that suggests these two are doing something more than casually dating. “Ben has been telling those close to him that his biggest mistake was letting Lindsay go,” a source close to the situation tells In Touch Weekly. “Now that he’s sober and she’s giving him a second chance, he refuses to let her slip away again, and he’s asked her to move in.” The insider confirms that Lindsay “was in the process of moving in with Ben when they broke up in September,” but nixed those plans when Affleck relapsed. Since Ben and Lindsay live on opposite coasts (she’s a New York-based SNL producer), she understandably wants to make sure that he’s capable of remaining sober this time. Ben reached the six-month milestone recently, and the informant says Lindsay has begun making tentative plans toward cohabitation. “Lindsay loves working for SNL, which films in NYC, and she has a young daughter who’s based there too,” a source tells In Touch. The insider adds that Shookus is “willing to split her time between the two coasts and is moving some of her belongings into Ben’s place.” We don’t blame her for being cautious. Not only does Lindsay have a child who lives in Manhattan, she’s spent enough time in the company of a red-faced raging blowhard after working so closely with Alec Baldwin these past two years. From Jersey Joe to Italian Inmate, the transformation is nearly complete for Joe Giudice. Much to the chagrin of his four daughters. And the apparent delight of his really terrible wife. On Thursday morning, Joe Giudice was released from Allenwood Low Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania after serving his time behind bars for his role in a bankruptcy scheme several years ago. The development was confirmed by his attorney, James Leonard Jr., via the following statement: “Mr. Giudice has finished serving his federal prison sentence and was transferred early this morning from the Bureau of Prisons to a facility in western Pennsylvania which houses immigration detainees. “His lawyers and his family are hopeful that justice will prevail and Mr. Guidice will return home to his wife and four daughters who love him and miss him.” This seems very unlikely to happen, however. Joe is currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He’s set to be transferred to an immigration detention center, where he will await a ruling about his possible deportation to his native Italy. Back in October, a judge decreed that Joe had lost his right to remain in the United States because he committed a felony as a non-U.S. citizen. As difficult as it may to believe, Joe never bothered to become a citizen, despite having resided in America since his youth. His fate now rest in an appeal that has been filed by his legal team. “We are optimistic that once his appeal is heard, he will receive the appropriate relief and will be able to come home and remain there with his family,” the Giudice family lawyer said in a statement last week, concluding at this time: “They love him, they support him and they miss him tremendously.” This last part is true for Joe’s kids, at least. His daughters have made emotional pleas for their dad to remain in their native country… but Teresa hasn’t sounded quite as passionate. The couple has been married for 19 years, yet Teresa isn’t even considering the notion of moving to Italy with Joe. “I mean, unless my kids say, ‘Mommy, I want to move to Italy,'” she told Andy Cohen last week. She then elaborated, in rather cold fashion: “It’s like starting a whole new life. And they’ve been through so much already. So, I mean, I’m not doing a long-distance relationship. I’m just not doing it. I want somebody with me every day. “I know exactly what happens, I’m sure he’ll be with other women. It happens. We do the long-distance thing? It’s not going to work. I’ll be like, ‘Bye bye.'” Bye bye . Those are the harsh words Teresa has on the subject of leaving her husband, which has earned her the ire of some social media users and co-stars. There’s been chatter that Teresa has met with a divorce attorney already, along with Bravo producers as she pitches them a spinoff about her oh-so-challenging life as a new single mother. But those negotiations may need to be put on hold while Joe’s future is decided. He could remain in ICE custody for up to a year while his appeal process plays out. “Joe isn’t going to go down without a fight and is going to appeal the decision,” a source told Us Weekly in October ahead of Giudice’s appeal filing. “This isn’t over, not by a long shot.” Which is really too bad. Well, it looks like we’re just weeks away from the arrival of a new prince or princess. Yes, despite the fact that the royal family has managed to keep Meghan Markle’s due date under wraps, all signs indicate that the Duchess of Sussex has entered final preparation mode. In fact, it looks as though Meghan is now on maternity leave, having cleared her schedule of all royal engagements for the foreseeable future. And apparently, Meghan’s efforts to get ready for the big day go well beyond picking out a color scheme for the royal nursery. Insiders say Meg has been going to great lengths to bury the hatchet with some of the folks who have antagonized her during her first year as a royal. On Monday, Meghan made nice with Kate Middleton at a Commonwealth Day event. This, despite rumors that the duchesses have been locked in a bitter feud for the past several months. But Kate is small potatoes compared to Meghan’s most determined antagonists. No, we’re not talking about Piers Morgan, whose latest moronic hot take is that Meghan “ruined” Prince Harry by accepting his proposal and helping him become a better man. We’re referring to Meghan’s wicked half-sister, Samantha Markle, and her father, Thomas Markle, who’s either just as bad as Samantha or another victim of manipulative machinations. Whatever the case, it seems Meghan is eager to make peace with her two douchiest relatives before the baby arrives. “Meghan’s family is well aware that she has always been busy and have always supported her efforts in the past, despite it leaving her little time to spend with them,” a source close to the situation tells the Daily Mail. “Her royal duties have kept her incredibly busy and she takes her new responsibilities very seriously.” Yes, despite the fact that Meghan’s family is objectively awful , and Samantha has made it her express goal to humiliate and destroy her sister, the duchess has decided to be the bigger person and accept some of the blame for their beef. It’s that not a prime example of character befitting a royal, we don’t know what is. The insider goes on to say that Meghan believes (or at least pretends to believe) that the media is partly to blame for Samantha and Thomas’ actions, as the two of them crumbled under the pressure of global scrutiny. “Meghan understands the pressures of intense media scrutiny and she is saddened by what her family have had to endure,” the insider tells the Mail. (This justification doesn’t really hold up when you consider the extent to which Thomas and Samantha have courted media attention, but hey, Meg’s probably just saying what she needs to say to bring her family back together.) “She plans to extend an olive branch to the family and invite them to visit after the baby is born – her sister [Samantha] included,” the source says. “Meghan hopes and prays that the baby will bring her family back together.” Frankly, we’re of the opinion that Samantha doesn’t deserve a second chance, particularly as it seems she’s been engaging in this sort of petty, malicious behavior her entire life. Jussie Smollett made a pair of returns this week. First, the actor appeared on Empire Wednesday night for the first time since he was arrested and charged with multiple felonies. (The Fox drama had been on hiatus since December 5 and Smollett claimed he got attacked on January 29.) Social media blew up during the installment, with fans in near universal agreement that they couldn’t really concentrate on any storyline when one of the show’s leads was strongly suspected of orchestrating an assault against himself . And then blaming in on white racist homophobes. And lying repeatedly about it at every turn. “Good Lord, SO much has happened since [Empire] was on the last time…I think we ALL know what that is!!!!” wrote one viewer on Twitter, while another simply added a series of emojis hinting at the Smollett-sized elephant in the room. “When Cookie asked if Jamal forgot his last name was Lyon….that script didnt age well,” another loyal fan remarked. At this point, of course, the real drama surrounding Smollett takes place off screen. During a brief hearing before Cook County Circuit Judge Steven Watkins on Thursday morning, the controversial heard the indictment filed against him and agreed to be in court for every hearing moving forward. Last week, a grand jury handed down a total of 16 indictments against Smollett, all stemming from the purported attack against him in Chicago about seven weeks ago. He has been charged with disorderly conduct and making a false police report. In court today, Smollett pleaded not guilty across the board. Smollett is accused of lying to the authorities and making up a story that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack by two men in the early morning hours of January 29 in Chicago. Cops have since said that Smollett concocted this tale to further his career, although it remains unclear just how he thought this would accomplish such a goal. The two Nigerian brothers who allegedly schemed along with Smollett have reportedly spilled all their tea to the police, implicating Jussie and explaining how he paid them to pose as his attackers. No matter how many times we write about this story, it never stops being literally incredible. Each charge against Smollett is punishable by as little as probation and as much as three years behind bars. He’s due back in court on April 17. As noted above, there’s a lot riding on this for Smollett aside from his acting career. But Fox is yet to renew Empire for a sixth season. In the past, with the exception of last year when a renewal announcement was made in May, the network had always given the green light for future episodes in January. Despite earlier reports, Smollett has not technically been fired from the series, but he has been removed from the final few installments scheduled for this spring. Executives may be waiting to see how his legal case plays out before deciding on the program’s fate, but time would not be on their side if this really is the play. Smollett could agree to a plea deal or he could take this all the way to a trial; the latter likely would not be held for several months, meaning Fox has to make some sort of decision soon. This time, fans are outraged after she exploited the tragic death of Luke Perry to push her business. Vicki’s controversial post began: “I know most of you have heard about the unfortunate passing of Luke Perry at the young age of 52.” “Luke was responsible in his estate planning,” she praised. “And because of that,” Vicki wrote. “He relieved his family of a lot of the burdens that would happen if he didn’t have it in place the way he did.” “It makes you realize how important Planning is,” she observed. “And,” Vicki continued. “How NOT to procrastinate taking care of a trust, health directives, and securing life insurance for those you leave behind.” “So sad,” her post concluded. That sounds like Vicki is praising Luke for his foresight and responsibility. The Riverdale star was worth an estimated $10 million at the time of his passing. That small fortune has now passed on to his two children, Sophie and Jack, who are young adults. But Vicki has her own insurance business. So it seems to her followers that she was exploiting a famous death to promote her own business. That is extremely distasteful. “Really? Capitalizing off of another persons death to get business,” accuses a commenter. “SO UNBELIEVABLY TACKY!” “I was a fan, but not anymore,” declares another. “TACKY of you to advertise your insurance company with the unfortunate passing of a celebrity.” That same commenter continues: “We all know, or should know, to plan for our futures. Shame on you!” “This is literally disgusting…take this post down,” demands another. “It was already said that he wrote a will and left everything to his children.” “Stop being ridiculous,” that same commenter concludes. “Really?” exclaims another commenter. “Using the death of a star to promote your insurance business? Super poor taste,” “Wow lady you should be ashamed of yourself,” chimes in another. “Really how disrespectful are you.” “How would you like it if somebody posted this when your Mom died Vicki?” asks another, getting very personal. That same commenter continues: “Like that’s what’s important when family is grieving over the loss of a loved one.” “Besides,” the commenter adds. “Whether he was prepared financially or not is none of anybody’s business to be putting on social media or to be using to promote your own business.” “Sick, Vicki….money hungry and heartless,” the disgusted follower accuses. “Get yourself together, seriously.” Finally, the comment concludes: “May Luke Perry rest peacefully and his family find strength during this time of great loss.” We certainly agree that Luke Perry’s death isn’t a good segue to use to plug your business. That said, if a celebrity overdoses or dies in a car crash, people often talk about the importance of things like getting help or driving safely. Vicki’s message would have been just fine if it had come from almost anyone else — provided that they don’t own an insurance business. It is the perceived conflict of interest that prompted Vicki to post that message. She has since wisely deleted it. It was Tristan Thompson’s birthday this week, but considering the way the Cleveland Cavs forward has alienated pretty much everyone in his life, we assume he celebrated in the company of a few strippers or his few teammates who aren’t too depressed to get off the couch because they play for the Cavs. Yes, Tristan turned 28 on Wednesday and Khloe Kardashian marked the occasion by throwing some glorious shade on Instagram. Khloe posted a list of personal reminders on her page the same day that Tristan blew out the candles while women with names like Shoshanna and Alizé cut the cake. It was the sort of meme that everyone’s Aunt Deborah posts on Facebook every day, but many fans feel there was a hidden meaning to Khloe’s list. In particular, the first and last items on the list caught a lot of people’s attention: “The past cannot be changed” and “What goes around, comes around.” If those nuggets of wisdom don’t sum up the lessons that Khloe learned from her time with Tristan, we don’t know what does. Compare that to this time last year, when Khloe went full-Hallmark all over Tristan’s ass in honor of his birthday. “To the happiest of birthdays, my love!” she wrote. “How special is this thing called life that we share together?! I am so blessed to be creating beautiful monumental memories with such a wonderful man! I hope this year brings you all that you dream of! You will forever be my always! For ever, ever?!” Anyway, there’s a pretty heavy cringe-factor on that post in any context, but in this case, is serves as a super sad reminder that Khloe was all-in on this relationship as recently as last year. Even after she learned that Tristan cheated while she was pregnant with his child, Khloe was still committed to making it work. It was only when Tristan was caught hooking up with Jordyn Woods that Khloe decided to finally pull the plug on this terminal relationship. Finding out your baby daddy is banging your little sister’s best friend will spur anyone to action. Thankfully, these days it seems that Khloe is well and truly done with Tristan. Of course, there’s one item on her list that has some fans concerned that she may flip-flop on that issue. Is “You only fail if you quit” a sign that Khloe’s not giving up on her relationship? A number of wealthy individuals, including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, were indicted as part of a massive college fraud scheme . One day after that news broke, Lori was arrested on Los Angeles. Meanwhile, former fans cannot help but notice certain parallels between Lori's scheme and her role as Aunt Becky on Full House . Speaking to People , a representative from the U.S. Attorneys Office Central District of California confirms that Lori has been arrested. She remains in custody and is expected to make an appearance in court at 2pm (PST). The 54-year-old actress was arrested following an overnight flight from Canada, where she had been filming. She faces a felony charge of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. She also faces a charge of honest services mail fraud. Lori is one of dozens facing charges for what appears to have been a massive, nationwide scheme. The schools involved range from USC to Yale to Princeton to Stanford to Georgetown. Wealthy parents are accused of having paid, in amounts ranging from the tens of thousands to considerably greater sums, to guarantee their children's college placement. In some cases, these were payments to have someone else take an entrance exam. Others were bribes for coaches to list students as having been recruited as athletes when they were not. Part of the outrage over this is brought on by the thought of students who had applied and been denied because these slots went to students whose parents paid bribes. Lori is specifically accused of paying $500,000 for her daughter to be virtually placed on a university rowing team. Her young adult daughter, Olivia Jade, is an Instagram influencer who has dabbled in acting. Reportedly, Olivia posed on a rowing machine to help sell the claim that she was part of the team. It is unclear how much she or any of the other children may have known of what their parents were doing to secure their future. But Olivia has expressed a disinterest in college academics multiple times on social media. Considering that her mother may go to prison over what she did for Olivia's college career, those posts have not aged well. Speaking of things that have not aged well … (No, this is not a knock on Lori, who remains beautiful on the outside) … Lori's role on Full House, which made her famous in the first place, is now coming back to haunt her during this scandal. Notably, she was the voice of reason and honesty on multiple episodes in which Uncle Jesse tried to use shortcuts. In one episode, written by someone who doesn't know how SATs work, Jesse snuck a radio to DJ to try to help her cheat on her SAT exams. It was aunt Becky who took the SAT answer sheet (which no proctor would ever have, let's be real) to stop him from helping her. Another episode showed Jesse lying to an elite preschool to try to get his twins enrolled in the hopes that he would give them a head start at life. It fell to Becky to talk him out of it. In the episode, she delivered some very heartfelt lines about how the twins would go through life at their own pace, and didn't need a dishonest boost. It seems clear that speaking those lines had no lasting effect on Lori Loughlin — not when it came to her own child's future. Watch these clips for yourself.
