Like a power forward who finds his way down to the post and gains solid position on his opponent… Kris Humphries is not budging. Despite Kim Kardashian divorce demands and complaints now actually involving her unborn child – Kim says stress from Kris is threatening the fetus – a source tells People that Humphries has not changed his stance. ” Kris only wants an annulment,” an insider tells the magazibe. “He never wanted to be married more than once and he feels like she cheated him out of the chance to have a real, loving marriage.” Indeed, Humphries continues to insist that the “entire marriage was a fraud” and, no, he doesn’t care about the Kim Kardashian baby on the way. “He feels that even if she’s pregnant, she still has to deal with the mess she made,” the source says. Kardashian is due in July and is urging a judge to begin a divorce trial as soon as possible. She insists, of course, that she never defrauded Humphries in any way. “I wish this issue to be tried immediately so that this false claim can be put to rest and I can move on with my life,” Kim wrote in papers filed last month with the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Winter Storm Nemo, a.k.a. the blizzard going on outside for tens of millions of Americans, is doing its thing. But why does a big snowstorm need a name? You can thank The Weather Channel alone for the moniker, it turns out. It also turns out that the National Weather Service is not amused. The massive New York / Northeast / New England snow storm will be among the biggest on record, but the region has seen plenty of snow in the past. Why is this one so special? And why Winter Storm Nemo of all names? Here’s the Weather Channel’s rationale for naming the blizzard: Naming a storm raises awareness about it, and the weather Naming it makes it easier to monitor the system’s progress A name gives it personality, which adds to the awareness A name makes it much easier to reference in communication A named storm is easier to remember and refer to later It’s not about marketing, or hype, or ratings, or generating more buzz for the Weather Channel, they say. Just doing their part for awareness and safety. Right. The Weather Channel defended the unusual move by saying it’s just stepping up to tackle a task to benefit the public that the government won’t: “There is no national center, such as the National Hurricane Center, to coordinate and communicate information on a multi-state scale to cover such big events.” Therefore, they say, “it would be a great benefit for a partner in the weather industry to take on the responsibility of developing this new concept.” The National Weather Service doesn’t see it that way. After TWC first began the practice by coining Nor’easter Athena in November, the NWS put out a statement disassociating itself with the naming system. The agency urged employees to “please refrain from using the term Athena in any of our products,” while local meteorologists were also unimpressed. Some wondered if TWC was just trying to parlay its peak audience during hurricanes – which are all named by the National Hurricane Center – into winter ratings. The network denies this and insists it’s just trying to help. It’s true that #nemo is trending on Twitter right now, and that’s easier to type than #blizzard. Maybe? And why Nemo? TWC says Winter Storm Nemo is NOT named after Disney’s Finding Nemo or the character in Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues under the Sea . It say that Nemo is “A Greek boy’s name meaning “from the valley,” and means “nobody” in Latin. So, yeah. Read into that however you like. And stay safe people.
A memo allegedly written by the U.S. Justice Department lays out the legal justification for potentially using deadly force against Americans abroad. An NBC News report said the 16-page “kill Americans memo” offers a detailed explanation of when it’s appropriate to use deadly force against Americans. Americans suspected of playing significant roles in al-Qaida terrorist operations may be killed by the U.S. government, according to the leaked memo. The document claims the federal government has the legal authority to target and kill American citizens believed to be responsible for terrorist activity. Even if there is no definitive evidence they are involved in planning a specific attack against the U.S., the memo suggests lethal force may be legitimate. The document reportedly broadens the legal justification supporting a recent surge in pilotless drone strikes, including those targeting Americans. A drone strike killed U.S.-born Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan in Yemen in 2011, sparking debate over how the U.S. decides who can be legally killed and why. In January, a federal judge ruled against The New York Times in its effort to compel the U.S. government to reveal information on how it determines this. What do you think? Should the government be allowed to target American citizens if they’re on foreign soil? Or is this a huge constitutional overreach?
Valentines Day, the government created mid-february initiative to stimulate the economy while making people in relationships feel inadequate and making people not in relationships feel suicidal leading to a great opportunity to lure girls into your bed who are just looking for a little affection….is right around the corner…and the lingerie companies know it….they figure it is the second biggest day of the year for them…because what the fuck else do you give your woman if you’re looking to get laid…not a blender….maybe jewelery…but there’s no real benefit to dropping money on gold and diamonds…other than a blowjob…at least with lingerie you can imagine she’s Irina Shayk when she puts it on…because fantasy is the foundation of all successful marriages….and it is also the only good that comes from Valentine’s Day…..
O.G. Grammy Grams! British Grandmother Sentenced To The Death Penalty For Smuggling Drugs Into Bali Via Huffington Post An Indonesian court sentenced a British grandmother to death on Tuesday for smuggling yayo worth $2.5 million in her suitcase onto the resort island of Bali – even though prosecutors had sought only a 15-year sentence. Lindsay June Sandiford, 56, wept when judges handed down the sentence and declined to speak to reporters on her way back to prison, covering her face with a floral scarf. She had claimed in court that she was forced to take the drugs into the country by a gang that was threatening to hurt her children. Indonesia, like many Asian countries, is very strict on drug crimes, and most of the more than 40 foreigners on its death row were convicted of drug charges. Sandiford’s lawyer said she would appeal, a process that can take several years. Condemned criminals face a firing squad in Indonesia, which has not carried out an execution since 2008, when 10 people were put to death. A verdict is expected in the trial of Sandiford’s alleged accomplice, Briton Julian Anthony Pounder, next Tuesday. He is accused of receiving the drugs in Bali, which has a busy bar and nightclub scene where party drugs such as yayo and Ex pills are bought and sold between foreigners. Two other British citizens and an Indian have already been convicted and sentenced to prison in connection with the bust. The folks in Bali are definitely part of the “Not-Fawkin’-Around-Crew”. In its verdict, a panel of Denpasar District Court judges concluded that Sandiford had damaged the image of Bali as a tourism destination and weakened the government’s drug prevention program. “We found no reason to lighten her sentence,” said Amser Simanjuntak, who headed the judicial panel. Can you imagine if America was executing people for drug offenses??? Clearly this woman broke the law, but hopefully she can get out of the death penalty sentence and just serve time. Image via AP
I have been banned from Reddit for the longest time…I think my site is also banned from Reddit….I’m talking since the beginning….but I do like what they do….. I just heard one of the unofficial co-founders, Aaron Swartz just killed himself….and after doing some research on him….he was totally against online censorship…a fighter for the freedom of the internet….for people like you and me who use the internet and like the internet before the internet was being regulated…by the government. I am hit with copyright law all the time, being shut down in the USA has been an ongoing fear or real life issue for me….I know people who have been woken up by the FBI….with guns in their faces…and I am just like…dude it’s just the internet…. Either, He was 26. He fought a good fight. He could have done so much more. This is a real tragedy. Suicide is never an option…if suicide is really what went on here…seems like he’d be someone the government would want to stop…just sayin… Swartz was indicted in July 2011 by a federal grand jury for allegedly downloading millions of documents from JSTOR through the MIT network — using a laptop hidden in a basement network closet in MIT’s Building 16 — with the intent to distribute them.
Despite more than 100,000 virtual signatures demanding it, the U.S. government has denied a petition from gun advocates to deport CNN host Piers Morgan. The petition started in response to British-born Piers Morgan’s gun control rant was posted to the White House’s We the People forum last month. Morgan has been even more outspoken than usual in the aftermath of the massacre that killed 26 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Earlier this week, he clashed it Alex Jones in an epic interview … or whatever that was. Bottom line, people petitioned to throw him out of the U.S. The Obama administration responds to any petition with 25,000 signatures, and therefore, issued a statement on Morgan and his 1st Amendment rights. “Let’s not let arguments over the Constitution’s Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First,” stated White House press secretary Jay Carney. “President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. However, the Constitution not only guarantees an individual right to bear arms, but also enshrines the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press – fundamental principles that are essential to our democracy.” “Americans may disagree on matters of public policy and express those disagreements vigorously, but no one should be punished by the government simply because he or she expressed a view on the Second Amendment – or any other matter of public concern.” As of this post, the petition to oust Piers has 109,334 virtual signatures – however he offered to self-deport , Romney-style, if U.S. gun laws don’t change. What do you think? Is it time for stricter/more gun control? YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »
The recession is real. And not just in the U.S. In fact unemployment is so high in South Africa, more than half a dozen young men DIED trying to qualify for traffic cop jobs. Another 230 collapsed, but a whopping 15,500 people took part in the test in competition for a mere 90 jobs!!! Via UK Daily Mail reports : The massive crowd of jobseekers took part in the deadly fitness test – which was held in a football stadium – after they each received text messages informing them they had been ‘shortlisted’ for the precious traffic police jobs. They were told that they needed to complete a 2.4 mile jog within thirty minutes to meet the force’s minimum fitness level requirement. But by the time they started running late last Thursday afternoon, temperatures inside Pietermaritzburg’s Harry Gwala football stadium had reached over 91.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Many of the desperate jobseekers had neither eaten nor drunk anything all day. They all had very limited access to drinking water. A total of 230 people collapsed from heat exhaustion and dehydration during the run. Of these, six died. A seventh man committed suicide by slitting his throat when he learnt he had not finished the race in time. Among the dead was Lenny Nxumalo, 28-year-old father of two whose body was only discovered over four hours after he died when the vast crowd finally cleared out of the stadium. He had collapsed having completed the race with ten minutes to spare. Yesterday his best friend Brian Ngcobo told the local The Witness newspaper: ‘My friend was so determined to become a traffic officer that he ran his life out because he was such a dedicated person.’ The tragedy is just the latest example of the problems that can occur when South Africa’s desperate youth – who face an effective unemployment rate of around 40 per cent – struggle to make successes of their lives. Government positions, such as those with the police force or army, are highly sought after as they are relatively well paid, have low entry criteria and because the application process positively discriminates in favour of blacks. Previous ‘mass job interviews’ for jobs such as these have seen tens of thousands of desperately poor and ill-educated young people descend on a location in the hope of securing one of perhaps just a dozen positions. In this latest example, over 150,000 people applied for the 90 jobs within the regional KwaZulu Natal traffic police department. Of these, 34,000 were sent text messages on Christmas Day telling them to report to the Harry Gwala stadium in two groups on Thursday and Friday. The politician responsible confirmed that ‘more than 34,000 applicants qualified for the 90 trainee posts which were advertised’, but that ‘scores of them could not cope with the hot weather condition and collapsed.’ South Africa’s Communist Party – which is in political alliance with the ruling African National Congress – demanded a full inquiry into the traffic police fitness test tragedy. And the opposition Inkatha Freedom Party has called on Willies Mchunu, the politician with ultimate responsibility for the debacle, to step down. ‘What happened in Pietermaritzburg was a classic display of being power-drunk, to an extent treating ordinary suffering people as subhuman. ‘No one in their right mind could in the first place short-list about 35,000 people for just 90 jobs,’IFP politician Blessed Gwala said.’ This is just crazy. Somebody has to be held responsible for these deaths! Photo Credit: meunierd / Shutterstock.com
