Chris Brown Forced to Get Rid of His Graffiti Art

Chris Brown Paints Graffiti … For Charity!

His personal life often overshadows his career accomplishments and side pursuits, but Chris Brown is an talented artist in more ways than one. In addition to being a Grammy-winning R&B star, he’s also a clothing designer who dabbles in painting and has even held a number of art shows. On the latter front, Breezy joined forces with famous graffiti artist Slick (real name Richard Wyrgatsch II) on Friday, tagging up a wall for a good cause: Chris Brown helped raise funds for the Best Buddies International foundation. The star tweeted, “Painting today with ‘Slick’. An Amazing artist.” “Gonna be a big collaboration for charity. Do what u love!” Slick also tweeted back, “@chrisbrown charity is a beautiful thang…… Lets do this,” and posted a photo with the singer “in the lab” on his Instagram. And that wasn’t even the end of Brown’s artsy weekend. Chris continued expressing his creativity by painting a huge St. Patrick’s Day-inspired mural yesterday, and sharing a photo of the finished product on Twitter. Check out the singer’s Irish-themed effort out right here: In January, Brown posted a painting of Jesus on the cross, flanked by two prisoners who were crucified with Christ … and likening himself to Jesus . “Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!” he said, in the wake of the Frank Ocean parking lot melee that caused quite an uproar. He did not compare himself to the fella above in this case.

Scarlett Johansson’s Lucky You Prison Tattoo

Here’s a few pictures of Scarlett Johansson showing off her new tattoo, and if you ask me, it kind of looks like something a 5-year-old might draw on you with Magic Marker. Apparently this graffiti artist Fuzi Uvtpk made it. And this is why you shouldn’t trust a graffiti artist to give you a tattoo. He’s clearly not used to working on such a flawless canvas. Brooklyn Bridge Gets Bombed By Graffiti [Photos]

New York has been infamous for its graffiti culture since (and before) the inception of Hip-Hop culture in the early to mid-1970s. Graffiti crews would “bomb” or paint quickly executed pieces over as much real estate as possible, making the concrete facades of the sprawling city into their canvas. The iconic Brooklyn Bridge has been bombed or “tagged” up by artists looking to “get up” their reputation in the city over the years… Continue

MTV News gets exclusive glimpse at art for ‘Put Your Graffiti on Me.’ By Jocelyn Vena Kat Graham’s “Put Your Graffiti on Me” art Photo: A&M/Octone Kat Graham frequently casts spells to get her friends out of trouble on the hit CW drama “Vampire Diaries.” Now, she’s hoping to cast her spell on the charts. The singer/actress is readying the release of her album, and MTV News has an exclusive first look at the art for her single, “Put Your Graffiti on Me.” The lively artwork features Graham with her hair pulled back into a high ponytail. She’s sporting a multicolored, sequined bodysuit with a flannel shirt tied around her waist. The single officially drops Monday, which marks a busy release day with Justin Bieber dropping his “Boyfriend” single and both Madonna and Katy Perry releasing albums on that same day. In February, Graham announced that she was signed to A&M Octone Records and announced to her fans that the single is only the beginning of this next phase in her career. “I am so excited that you guys are going to be a part of this journey with me,” she said in a video message . “I will definitely keep you guys in the loop with everything we’re doing for the record. I appreciate all your support and all the work that we’ve done to get here.” While she has yet to drop an official album, Graham has been teasing fans with several singles and videos. In March 2011, Graham spoke to MTV News on the set of her “I Want It All” music video about balancing her two careers. “I’ve been recording since I was 14, but the song really came to manifestation this year. I really found my sound,” the TV teen witch told MTV News about working on the album. “One of my 2011 resolutions was to do my own music and do my own album. I’ve been working on that, and it’s been going great. … It’s unreal for me.” Are you excited to hear Kat’s new single? Tell us below!

Claire Sloma on How Audrey Hepburn Influenced Myth of the American Sleepover

David Robert Mitchell’s Myth of the American Sleepover is the anti-teen movie teen movie. It’s American Graffiti by way of mumblecore; it’s Kids by way of Norman Rockwell. The film follows a group of moderately well-behaved teens on the last night of summer, and features enough awkward inter-sex interactions to fill up a battalion of big studio teen comedies. The one difference? The cast is filled with many new performers and — at the time of filming in 2008 — actually teenagers. Like Claire Sloma.

‘Empire Strikes Back’ Added To National Film Registry

‘Saturday Night Fever,’ ‘Airplane!’ among other movies recognized by Library of Congress. By Jayson Rodriguez “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” Photo: FOX Thirty years ago, moviegoers were stunned when Darth Vader revealed in “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” that he was Luke Skywalker’s father. On Tuesday (December 28), however, there was no surprise when the venerable sci-fi flick was selected by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Film Registry, according to The Associated Press. The honor recognizes the iconic 1980 movie for being artistically, culturally or historically significant. A copy of the original film will be preserved by the registry at the Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Culpeper, Virginia, for future generations. “The Empire Strikes Back” was produced by “Star Wars” auteur George Lucas but directed by Irvin Kershner. It was joined by 24 other films; more than 2,500 were nominated. The John Travolta-powered disco vehicle “Saturday Night Fever,” the Watergate drama “All the President’s Men” and Spike Lee’s biopic “Malcolm X” were among the popular titles to make the cut. The films will be added to a library that includes upwards of 550 titles, including Lucas’ “American Graffiti” and the first installment of “Star Wars.” Comedies including “The Pink Panther” and “Airplane!” were also selected by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, who has picked every film in the registry since its inception in 1989. “Airplane!” is a hilarious spoof of disaster movies that starred Leslie Nielsen, who died less than a month ago at the age of 84.
