‘My mind was just blown,’ one moviegoer tells MTV News in Times Square. By Fallon Prinzivalli Chris Evans as Captain America In “The Avengers” Photo: Walt Disney Studios The long-awaited “Avengers” finally assembled Thursday night at theaters throughout North America with one of the biggest midnight openings since “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” We were on the scene in New York’s Times Square, where fans dressed as Loki and the Hulk donned their RealD “Avengers” collector glasses and couldn’t stop raving about Earth’s mightiest heroes. “I was really worried that it was gonna be just subpar, if not even at all good. But then I saw it. I just had to sit there for a minute and just take it in. It was amazing!” said Akil Vichus Davis, who was skeptical that director Joss Whedon could take on such a hefty project. But he was pleasantly surprised and said he’s very happy with the outcome. “It was solid. It was good. The stories were good. They had great moments. The cinematography, the directing, it was off the chain. It was good.” Marvel fan Justin Silver agreed, saying, “My mind was just blown. I was just like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was crazy. It was unbelievable!” The ensemble cast includes Marvel newcomer Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and many actors reprising their roles, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Evans, who plays Captain America. Anand Kodamanchili was thrilled with how much the legendary First Avenger was featured in the film. “I’m a huge fan of Captain America, and just watching him kick some serious ass again, again and again was pretty awesome,” he gushed. With its earlier overseas release, “The Avengers” has raked in more than $300 million internationally so far, according to Deadline Hollywood . When box-office expert Jeff Bock said, “This isn’t just a movie, it’s an event,” he wasn’t kidding. AMC Theaters held the daylong “Ultimate Marvel Marathon,” screening “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “Captain America” back-to-back leading up to the “Avengers” midnight release. The screenings sold out in numerous major theaters in North America more than a month ago. Deadline also reports that the film grossed a total of $281.1 million through its first eight days overseas and is slated to hit over $160 million in the U.S. through Sunday. With a rise in ticket prices, especially 3-D and IMAX, there’s a strong chance it could top the current record, held by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” of $169.2 million. If you include the opening weekend in Russia and China, the film could potentially make close to $585 million worldwide through Sunday. A studio mogul told Deadline, “It’s tracking off the charts. Biggest in every category and with everyone — men, women, young, old. Any way you slice and dice it. It’s just a mega-movie.” So what’s the secret? We certainly noticed a mix of men and women at the premiere release last night. Moviegoer Kelly Burbrink enjoyed the comedic parts of the film. “[I] absolutely loved the one-liners of the humor,” she said. “They were fantastic and I’m sure we missed a bunch because everyone was just dying laughing after them that you couldn’t hear what came right after. They were just hysterical.” There’s something in it for everyone. Action, comedy, an insanely attractive cast — and when you mix that with the directing talents of Joss Whedon, it’s no wonder fan Nicole DeBonis screams, “Oh my gosh! No words can describe it.” Daniel Vives agrees and highly recommends the film for all audiences, saying, “Joss Whedon did an excellent job with directing and writing the movie. Everyone needs to go see this movie.” “The Avengers” is currently in theaters nationwide. Check out everything we’ve got on

‘As an individual you have to understand what is your business and what isn’t,’ Bobby Ray says on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman B.o.B Photo: Getty Images B.o.B is a nice guy, but don’t let his cool, calm demeanor fool you. “I’m a Scorpio; I can be your best friend or your worst enemy,” Bobby Ray said when he appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” “And as of now I’ve been your best friend.” Still, for the most part B.o.B steers clear of the extracurricular rap beefs, so don’t expect him to throw his two cents into the Iggy Azalea/ Azealia Banks dustup, even though he and Iggy are both prime players on T.I.’s Grand Hustle label. “I’m definitely always gonna ride for my team, always. There’s no doubt in my mind, but as an individual you have to understand what is your business and what isn’t your business,” he explained. “Now, if something spills over into my court, then I have to handle my business. But as of yet I really don’t attract that type of energy to myself.” There was, however, a lyrical tiff with Tyler, the Creator in 2011. After taking offense at a line on Tyler’s breakout song “Yonkers,” B.o.B responded with “No Future,” but both MCs downplayed any notion of beef, writing the incident off as just competition. Azalea versus Azealia, however, has become increasingly harder to ignore. The Harlem-bred Banks took exception after Iggy secured a spot on the coveted XXL Freshman cover by winning a fan vote. Banks had no problem lashing out at Iggy via Twitter, and when Tip defended his new prot

Young MC calls Tip a ‘snitch’ after he talked to Chicago morning show about her beef with Iggy Azalea. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Nadeska Alexis Azealia Banks Photo: Jim Dyson/ Redferns T.I. has been involved in his fair share of rap beef. From Lil’ Flip to Ludacris to Shawty Lo, Tip has held his own against some pretty serious dudes, but when it comes to the attacks from rookie female MC Azealia Banks , the Trouble Man wants no part of it. Banks took exception when T.I.’s new artist Iggy Azalea landed the 2012 XXL Freshman cover earlier this year. The Harlem rapper had no problem lashing out at Iggy via Twitter , and when Tip defended his new prot

After signing with Interscope, rapper tells MTV News, she decided she wants T.I.’s label to be ‘a permanent fixture in my career.’ By Nadeska Alexis Iggy Azalea Photo: MTV News Iggy Azalea’s fall 2011 mixtape, Ignorant Art, drew so much attention that by January she’d already inked a deal with Interscope Records . A month later, however, T.I. announced that she had also signed to Grand Hustle Records , causing a bit of confusion. Although it was an usual situation, Azalea says her deal was restructured to create an ideal contract. “I didn’t know I was gonna sign to Grand Hustle,” Azalea told MTV News, explaining how she managed to stick with both imprints. “There’s no way I thought that would happen. Not because I didn’t like them, just because my deal was all sewn up, and I restructured the whole thing.” The 21-year-old Australian rapper revealed that Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine was “cool with it,” helping her tailor a new deal that pleased all parties involved. “[Jimmy] likes Tip, and they’re good friends, so it worked out,” she explained. “But it made everybody so confused, because everyone was like, ‘I thought she was signed to Interscope; Grand Hustle is with Atlantic.’ ” Iggy said she pushed for the deal to be amended because she had such natural chemistry with the Atlanta rapper and his team. “I love everyone at Grand Hustle — not just [T.I.],” she shared. “Initially, I wanted to work with him … because of him, but once I got to Atlanta and I met all of them, I was like, ‘Man, I feel so comfortable with all these people and I really want them to all be involved and not just for one album but for the long run.’ “You always hear stories of labels trying to break things up and things changing, and I just wanted to make sure I had a structured business deal where that was not able to happen,” she concluded. “So that’s why I asked for it to be restructured and for Grand Hustle to be involved and be a permanent fixture in my career.” Iggy Azalea’s debut album, The New Classic, is tentatively scheduled to drop this summer. Grand Hustle CEO is dubbed a ‘model probationer’ by probation officer, and judge agrees. By Carter Maness T.I. Photo: Chris McKay/ Getty Images It appears the second time’s the charm for T.I. Released last fall after an 11-month sentence for violating probation on his 2009 gun conviction, the Atlanta rapper has been on such good behavior that a judge has approved an expanded out-of-state travel allowance for up to 12 days at a time. According to TMZ , the request, submitted by T.I.’s probation officer, details that the rapper has been a “model probationer” since he was released from an Atlanta halfway house last September. By following all guidelines and completing a required drug and alcohol counseling program, Tip has been granted more freedom to travel and do business in other states. The expanded freedoms come at a convenient time, as T.I. is nearing the release of his eighth full-length album, Trouble Man. “The album is about 75 percent done. We got a lot of hot, old-school, vintage T.I. records on there,” Tip told MTV News back in December while promoting his F— Da City Up mixtape. “We got those over-the-top crossover records as well, big features and whatnot that we plan on putting into play. I got one with Akon, did a few records with Rico Love. Man, I got records with just about everybody,” he said. “We just putting it together, we done did about 70 records.” Trouble Man will include features from T.I.’s ever-expanding Grand Hustle empire. In February, he made some new additions to his roster in the form of Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and British rapper Chip, plus a joint venture with Houston MC Trae Tha Truth and his ABN label. “We’re gonna work alongside each other for a common goal and release this Trae Tha Truth project,” T.I. said of the deal with Trae. “When cats [who are] cut from a certain cloth give their word and shake their hand, that’s what makes it a done deal — the ink is just a formality.” Related Artists T.I.
