New Mexico Woman Confronts Burglar And Finds Out It’s Her Grandson A New Mexico woman who confronted an intruder who broke into her home was shocked and appauled when she ripped off the man’s mask to find her own grandson. via Fox News Police say a New Mexico woman who confronted a masked intruder in her home stumbled upon a shocking discovery when she ripped off his disguise — the robber was her grandson. KRQE-TV reports that 22-year-old Thomas Clark is facing robbery charges after police say he stole his grandmother’s purse during a bizarre robbery at an Albuquerque home. According to police, the woman confronted Clark, dressed in black with a purple bandana over his face, last week when he broke into her home. Police say the woman yanked off the mask but Clark pushed her and fled with her purse.  He was arrested later at his parents’ home. Police say he confessed and said he did it for casino money. Glad they arrested someone for Malcolm Shabazz’s death. Police Find Two Suspects In Malcolm Shabazz’s Death According to Raw Story Authorities have arrested two people in connection with the beating death of the grandson of late US civil rights activist Malcolm X in Mexico City, an official said Monday. Malcolm Shabazz, 29, was found laying on the ground in front of a bar on Thursday and died later in a hospital emergency room. “Two people were detained,” an official from the Mexico City prosecutor’s office told AFP without providing more details, saying more information would be given at a press conference later Monday. Mexican media reported that two male employees from The Palace club, ages 24 and 26, were detained and face theft and homicide charges. Shabazz was apparentlty beaten during an argument over a steep bill at the club, located near the city’s Plaza Garibaldi, famous for its Mariachi bands and seedy dive bars. Police are also looking for three other suspects in the case, Reforma newspaper said. Shabazz had traveled to Mexico to meet with Miguel Suarez, a leader of the Rumec labor movement, and local media said the two had been at the bar together when the fatal beating took place. Shabazz had a troubled youth, spending time in a juvenile detention center for starting the fire that led to the death of his grandmother Betty Shabazz, the widow of Malcolm X, in 1997. The civil rights leader was assassinated in 1965. No one deserves to die the way he did. He was finally on the right path. What a shame. Continue reading →

R.I.P. Malcolm Shabazz Killed In Mexico According to The Huffington Post Malcolm Shabazz, the grandson of civil rights icon Malcolm X, has been killed in Mexico according to The Amsterdam News. Shabazz’s death was also confirmed on Twitter and Facebook by Terrie Williams, a friend of the Shabazz family. While details of his death are still unclear, there are unconfirmed reports that Shabazz died of injuries sustained during a robbery. Shabazz is the son of Qubilah Shabazz, who was the second daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz. In his youth, he set a fire that caused the death of his grandmother. For that crime, he plead plead guilty to manslaughter, was found guilty of arson, and was sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile detention facility. As an adult, Shabazz continued to have trouble with the law, The New York Times reported. He plead guilty to attempted robbery in 2002 and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Just months after his release in 2006, he was arrested again, this time for punching a hole in a store window. At the time of his death, Shabazz was attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York and working on two books. He is survived by his mother and two daughters. According to Ron Lesko, spokesman for the Albany City School District, Meaders unexpectedly joined some dancing onstage students and was left alone – at first – even though she was not part of the performance celebrating Black History Month. Lesko says when she suddenly removed her clothing from the waist up, school employees moved her away from the front of the stage so to keep her out of view of people in the room. He says a “crisis team” was called to help some students who were in tears after witnessing something Lesko calls “disturbing.” Meaders, 24, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and public lewdness. She was still being held at the Albany County jail Friday night. Friends told CBS6 News her sons were with their grandmother. ilp cbs6

Amanda Bynes, threatened with eviction by her landlord for breaking rules and being disrespectful toward others, packed up and left her NYC apartment last week. According to reports, Bynes got a letter from management in January explaining that her lease would be terminated (presumably February 1, when she left). Reason: She’s a pothead. Management made the decision to evict following complaints of marijuana smoke emanating from Amanda Bynes ‘ apartment “morning, noon and night.” Sources say she was also seen smoking weed in the halls. It’s a non-smoking building, like most New York structures. She’s kind of a big a fan of the herb, it would appear. In any case, TMZ reports that Amanda wasn’t going to wait and challenge management’s decision and decided to simply find somewhere else to live. It’s unclear where the 26-year-old plans to go next, but departing this spot is a done deal. Trucks were seen packing up and moving her stuff on outta there. Anybody need a roommate?

Cissy Houston has been making the media rounds over the past few days, sharing memories of her late daughter and promoting her book, “Remember Whitney.” But there’s at least one person who won’t be reading this revealing biography: the late’s singer’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. “Anything concerning my grandmother’s book, I and @nickgordon of course personally have nothing to with,” the teenager has Tweeted to her nearly 120,000 followers, adding: “I haven’t read and won’t… I find it to be disrespectful to my mother and me being her daughter won’t tolerate it.” What do you think of Cissy penning this book?   It’s a money-grab! The POTUS is kickin the truth to the young, black, youth Via NYDailyNews Crystile Carter was abandoned by her mother at age 7, removed from her ailing grandmother’s care and shuttled among different foster homes around the city. But on Monday, the Bronx teen found herself in a far different kind of home — the White House. The 19-year-old said she felt like she was in a dream when President Obama congratulated her for being one of five young adults selected by the Boys & Girls Club of America as winners of its Youth of the Year awards. “When (Obama) opened the door, it was so surreal,” Carter in a phone interview with the Daily News from Washington. “He told us that, around our age, he kind of didn’t know what he wanted to do, but he knew that he wanted to make a difference.” The chat lasted only 10 minutes, but Carter will always carry a special message from the President — written in a journal given to her by the Boys & Girls Club. “He wrote, ‘Crystile, dream big dreams,’ ” she said. “He told us it’s important to talk to kids, and to keep in mind where we came from.” Abandoned by her mother, Carter eventually ended up with an older brother and sister in her grandmother’s home. But when her grandmother fell ill, she was separated from her siblings and placed in a group home on Staten Island — leaving her with a two-hour-plus commute to Performance Conservatory High School in the Bronx. Wayne paid tribute to a random skateboard company. Drake pays tribute to two deceased family members, his uncle and his grandmother. Drake visited tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado in Hesperia, CA for the large back pieces on Dec. 27th. Drake is all about demonstrative sentimentality. From his Aaliyah tattoo to this new tribute to his late uncle and grandmother…if Drake loves you, you will end up permanently pictured on his skin. That’s basically the rule. Killer Left Chilling Note Before N.Y. Firefighter Shootings

William Spengler, the killer of two New York State firefighters, apparently left a chilling note before opening fire on first responders earlier this week. An ex-con with the same military-style rifle used in the Connecticut school shooting , Spengler typed a note pledging to burn down his neighborhood. He said he was going to “do what I like doing best, killing people,” police said as another body, believed to be the gunman’s missing sister, was found. Spengler, 62, served 17 years in prison for manslaughter in the 1980 hammer slaying of his grandmother. He set his house afire before dawn Monday. At that point, he took a revolver, a shotgun and a semiautomatic rifle to a sniper position outside, Webster, N.Y., Police Chief Gerald Pickering said. He shot dead two firefighters responding to the fire. The death toll rose to three as police revealed that a body believed to be his 67-year-old sister, Cheryl Spengler, was found in his fire-ravaged home. Authorities say he sprayed bullets at the first responders, killing two firefighters and injuring two others who remained hospitalized Tuesday. Those two victims are awake, alert and expected to survive. He then killed himself as seven houses burned on a sliver of land along Lake Ontario. Police recovered a military-style .223-caliber semiautomatic Bushmaster rifle with flash suppression, the same make and caliber weapon used in Newtown, Conn. The chief said it was believed the firefighters were hit with shots from the rifle given the distance but the investigation was incomplete and ongoing. “He was equipped to go to war, kill innocent people,” the chief said. The 2-3 page typewritten rambling note left by Spengler did not reveal what set off the killer or provide a motive for the shootings, Pickering said. He called the attack a “clear ambush on first responders.” He read only one chilling line: “I still have to get ready to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down, and do what I like doing best, killing people.”
