It’s hard to call a director prolific when her first film hasn’t even been released yet, but Shana Feste makes a good case for it. Feste wrote and directed The Greatest (out this Friday in limited release), which stars Pierce Brosnan, Susan Sarandon, and Carey Mulligan in the story of a family who’s lost their teenage son. That film premiered at Sundance in 2009, and in the interim, Feste has already wrapped her next movie Love Don’t Let Me Down , a country musical with Gwyneth Paltrow and Tron Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund. When Feste tells you that her intention is to make a film every year, Woody Allen-style, it’s not hard to believe she’ll do it. The young talent sat down with Movieline last week to discuss her speed vis-a-vis other woman filmmakers, the family story that inspired The Greatest , and the karaoke audition that landed up-and-comer Hedlund a role in her next film.

In perhaps the ultimate stroke of ironic genius, Duke Nukem Forever was supposed to have finished development by April 1, 2010, according to former 2K Games producer Jason Bergman. Bergman revealed the bit of trivia over Twitter . He’s currently a senior producer at Bethesda Softworks, but claims 3D Realms and Take-Two Interactive (the parent company of 2K Games) were planning to announce Duke Nukem Forever had gone gold (read: was finished) on April 1. “MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE: by the 3DR/TTWO [3D Realms / Take-Two Interactive] development schedule, April 1st, 2010 was supposed to be the day Duke Nukem Forever went gold,” said Bergman. “Totally intentional. It was going to be hilarious.” Duke Nukem Forever has been an industry joke for years. No one thought it’d be released. “I wholeheartedly believe that had things gone differently, they would have made that date,” he said. 3D Realms and Take-Two are now embroiled in a heated legal battle over the fate of Duke Nukem Forever and future Duke Nukem releases. I play every video game as a female character if given the option. I don’t know why. I just do. Sadly, I won’t have that option when Crackdown 2 comes out. The game will not offer girl-cops. “In Crackdown , the amount of memory that it was going to take for it to do all the actual animation, the texture sets and the models for the females – we would’ve needed to massively reduce other sections of the game,” creative director Billy Thomson told 1UP at PAX East last week. “So rather than do two separate models, we cut it back and gave the player as much customization as we could on the male character and that allowed us to use that extra memory to do other things in the game.” “It’s actually the same reason again,” Thomsen said. “When it came to Crackdown 2, you’ve got four players (in cooperative play), and that means every single player can be a different character and that has to be in memory all the time. We had to save memory all over the place because we’ve got so much more content in this game than we had in the first game. We don’t stream.” “It’d be great (to have female characters), but what we were going to lose didn’t seem like it’d be worth it. If we had more memory, it’d be okay.” Also: No Yeti agents. Northern Iowa recently win and got an upset over the number 1 seed team in the NCCAA, Kansas. Now everything is possible for BYU and they can bring Kansas State down.
