New Hampshire Primary Draws Young Voters To Polls Early

‘I think the young vote’s got to get out and be more informed,’ said one first-time voter. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Sway Calloway A young Republican presidential supporter outside a polling station in Manchester, New Hampshire Photo: AFP CONCORD, N.H. — On a blue-sky, unseasonably not frigid morning in the Granite State, young voters came out early to the Green Street Community Center in the shadow of the gold-domed state capital to cast their ballots in the first-in-the-nation Republican primary on Tuesday (January 10). MTV’s Powerof12 caught up with them and found out what issues were on the minds and why they were motivated to hit the polls early. Andrew Judd, 19, was feeling good about his first voting experience, confident that his ballot could make a difference in the outcome. “I normally would say I don’t have a chance at affecting anything, but the results in Iowa state that seven votes could make a difference,” he said, referring to GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s eight-vote margin over former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in last week’s Iowa caucus . “If I’m one of those seven, then I’m making a big difference.” Judd said he definitely kept an eye on the ever-fluctuating polls in the weeks leading up to Tuesday’s vote, watching as leading candidate Romney saw his 40-plus percent margin slip into the low 30s as the numbers for congressman Ron Paul and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman crept up. But even if his candidate of choice doesn’t make the cut, Judd said he will still come out to vote again in the general election. Though she was also excited about her first time voting, Emily Flanders, 18, was a bit disappointed that some of her friends sat the primary out. “I think that they still think that they can complain about the government, but they don’t have the right to if they’re not going to vote,” she said. It wasn’t the same story for Amelia Dickinson, 18, one of several politically active students from nearby St. Paul’s School, an Episcopal boarding school, who stepped into a voting booths in the center’s gym and check a box behind a red, white and blue curtain. As she did, one of her teachers, Grant Edwards, looked on with pride as he watched his charge take the lessons she had learned in his class and put them to work. “I was really looking forward to it [voting],” said Dickinson, who spent last semester studying the various campaigns for a new-media and culture class and is currently examining the candidates’ views in a practical politics course. “It was a nice way to go about voting for the first time with all the information.” Rather than letting the polls affect her vote, Dickinson said she focused on watching the various debates and studying the candidates’ beliefs, ultimately deciding that her values lined up with Santorum’s as she tried not to get distracted or swayed by Romney’s momentum in pre-primary polls. “I hope people actually look into what they’re saying,” she said, also promising that she would be back in the general election regardless of Tuesday’s outcome. Yet another first-timer in Edwards’ class, 19-year-old senior David J. Chester, said he absolutely thinks the nation’s 45 million young voters can help impact the 2012 election. “But I think the young vote’s got to get out and be more informed. You’ve got to know the policies the candidates are running … you’ve got to take time and research what it is you like about the certain candidates,” he said. Taking advantage of the state’s open primary system, Chester cast his ballot for Barack Obama . “Hopefully, if you get a large support base for the Democratic Party and Obama, it will hopefully start a snowball effect and more people will hop on the bandwagon when they see how many people came out and still voted for Obama even though the focus is on the Republican candidates,” he said. Daniel Radcliffe ‘Threw Himself’ Into ‘Woman In Black’

‘I found it incredibly exciting seeing Dan playing such a mature role,’ screenwriter Jane Goldman tells MTV News. By Kevin P. Sullivan Daniel Radcliffe Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Later this month, Daniel Radcliffe will leave the friendly ghosts of Hogwarts behind in favor of a much darker haunting. His first major post-“Potter” role comes with the adaptation of Susan Hill’s beloved Victorian ghost story “The Woman in Black.” The film represents a major challenge for Radcliffe and his star persona. It’s his biggest movie release as a mere leading Muggle, and fans want to know: Can “The Woman in Black” help Radcliffe make the all-important leap from child star to adult actor? “Woman in Black” screenwriter Jane Goldman thinks so. “It’s an extraordinary achievement,” she said. “I think we were all just blown away by his performance. I think that’s going to be pretty exciting for his fans.” Goldman recently made a name for herself penning some of the most successful comic book adaptations in recent years. Her writing credit appears on “Kick-Ass” and “X-Men: First Class,” as well as spy thriller “The Debt.” Radcliffe’s role presents something entirely different for the actor, who, believe it or not, plays a father and widower in the film. This stark change really stands out for Goldman, considering that Radcliffe played a younger character in the last few “Potter” films. “In a sense, with the last few years of ‘Potter,’ he was playing younger than he is,” she said. “He is a young man, but he also threw himself totally into this [‘Woman in Black’] role, and the fact that he’s so believable as a widower and as a father [is impressive].” What excited Goldman most about Radcliffe’s performance was the maturity he brought to it. “I found it incredibly exciting seeing Dan playing such a mature role,” she said. “I think that will be a fun and really interesting thing for his audience to see. He’s really playing a man.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Woman in Black.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Dark Shadows’ Trailer: Three Things We Want To See

From Eva Green’s witch, Angelique, to what’s really up with Dr. Hoffman, here are the top things we’re itching to see. By John Mitchell Tim Burton and Johnny Depp on the set of “Dark Shadows” Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures We are just five months away from the release of the hottest vampire movie that doesn’t sparkle in the sunshine, and we’re starting to get excited. Very excited. But unlike the other major movies that have earned themselves a column here at MTV — “The Avengers,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Hunger Games” and “The Twilight Saga” — we are still waiting for a trailer for “Dark Shadows.” And, well, we’re starting to get pretty impatient. So far, director Tim Burton has kept a tight lid on his vampire soap opera — only a few official pics from the set (and one much-discussed paparazzi shot of Johnny Depp in character as Barnabas Collins) have been released. But the new year should bring fresh blood. We know filming has wrapped and that things apparently went so well on set that Michelle Pfeiffer told MTV News while promoting “New Year’s Eve” that working on “Dark Shadows” was “a dream job.” Pfeiffer, who plays family matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, added that she hopes the film does well so “we can do a bunch of them, because it was such a fantastic, creative group of people.” Whether that on-set camaraderie will translate into the campy big-screen spook-fest we’re hoping for remains to be seen, and while we hope the trailer doesn’t give too much away, here are a few things we’re hoping to see when it arrives. 1. Eva Green in action as Angelique Angelique Bouchard is the witch who turned Barnabas into a vampire in the late 1700s after their affair went sour. She’s a woman with an axe to grind and has been haunting and cursing the Collins family ever since. So far, the only image we’ve seen of Green in character is the full cast shot, in which she stands in the background wearing modern clothes. We hope the trailer gives us a taste of how the “Casino Royale” Bond girl is going to play the over-the-top villainess. This is a scenery-chewing role that any actress worth her salt would have a field day with. We have faith that the super sexy starlet will do it justice, but a little advance evidence would be nice. We want to see corsets, blood and maybe a voodoo doll or two. 2. A little insight into what Dr. Hoffman is up to For us, one of the biggest mysteries of the film is exactly what role Helena Bonham Carter’s Dr. Julia Hoffman will play in the shenanigans at Collinwood Mansion. The actress has described her character as “an alcoholic psychologist,” and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith told Entertainment Weekly that Hoffman “has been there for years, working with David [Collins] but not making any progress. He still claims he sees ghosts and talks with his dead mother.” Grahame-Smith goes on to describe the character as “a woman with a lot of secrets herself” who is “interested in Barnabas in more than one way.” What no one has mentioned is Hoffman’s role, in the original series, as a blood disorders specialist who attempts to cure Barnabas of his vampirism. We’ll be watching this trailer very closely to see if HBC is carrying more vials than she is notepads. 3. Collinwood Mansion We got a glimpse of the manor in the cast shot, with its Gothic windows and ancient-looking rugs, but we’re excited to see the rest of the haunted mansion. Overlooking the Atlantic from Collinsport, Maine, the house contains a room that is a gateway to a parallel time, for goodness’ sake. Given that so much of the action of the series takes place within the walls of the mansion, we’re really hoping that Burton and his first-class team of art directors, set designers and cinematographers got it right and captured the regal horror of the place. Cee Lo Green Changes Lyrics to "Imagine," Some Fans Not Pleased

Performing live on New Year’s Eve, Cee Lo Green made a seemingly minor change to the lyrics to John Lennon’s classic song “Imagine” that caused a big uproar. Shortly before the ball dropped, Green changed the lyrics from “Nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too” to “Nothing to kill or die for, and all religion’s true.” This didn’t go unnoticed by many fans, upset with the change. In response, Cee Lo Tweeted, “Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys! I was trying to say a world were u could believe what u wanted that’s all.” That did little to comfort angered Lennon lovers, who lashed out on Twitter. Watch the performance below (around 4:00) and tell us if you think the criticism is warranted: Cee Lo Green – Imagine (Live on New Year’s Eve)

As promised, CNN’s New Year’s Eve special with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin proved just as entertaining as years past. Though Griffin didn’t drop the f-bomb or try to undress Cooper on air, she did attempt to humiliate her co-host in other ways. When the show came back from a commercial break, Griffin appeared on air just in her bra. “Are you kidding me? Are you serious?” Cooper said. Sharlely Kressenberg Hot Mom Swimsuit Pics

I didn’t think I’d be posting pictures of a former tennis pro’s wife this morning, but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot going on out there so this is happening. Here’s Boris Becker’s wife, Sharlely Kerssenberg spending Christmas on the beach in her sexy little mom swimsuit. I don’t know how old she is, I don’t really care, but she seems to be holding up pretty nicely. I need to work on my tennis game.

Chloe Green’s Unknown Bikini Pictures

If you don’t know who the hell this Chloe Green chick is you’re not the only one, I think only a handful of Brits give a crap about this one, but I’m having a hard time finding pictures so this is what happens. I’m sure I could post some older shots of half naked women, but I like to keep things as fresh as possible for you guys. Anyhow, she’s a 20 year old chick in a bikini… What more do you want? Did I mention her dad’s a multi-billionaire? Will you marry me?

On December 11th 2011, is the day I FINALLY met my idol…

On December 11th 2011, is the day I FINALLY met my idol Justin Bieber. I have been wanting and trying to meet him for 3 years, I’ve entered every contest to meet him and I didn’t win. On 11.11.11 at 11:11 I made a wish to meet Justin, and exactly 1 month after, my wish came true. On, December 9th,  I heard that Justin was coming to Washington, DC for Christmas in Washington and freaked out thinking that this might be my chance to actually meet him or at least get close to him. Justin got to DC on Saturday, and me and my friends went down there to try to find him, and we heard that he had rehearsal in the National Building Museum. So we went down and stood outside of the museum for maybe 45 minutes before him and Selena came out! We were so excited that he came out, and then Justin started walking towards us and we thought he was going to come over and take pictures with us, but then he stopped 10 feet away from us and was talking to his DJ and then went right back to his Escalade. He got in the car and drove off, right past me on the sidewalk, I could see him and Selena in the car and I thought that’s as close as I’ll ever be to Justin. We didn’t know what hotel he was staying at so, we just went home because we didn’t know where they were off too. Right as we were on our way home, I got a tweet from Justin saying that he was at the Children’s Hospital. I knew the next day (Sunday) was going to be 10x harder to meet him or even see him because that was the day he was singing for the President and doing Christmas in Washington. We got to DC around 2pm and we saw Justin again, 10 feet away going into the Museum for dress rehersal. We ran around behind were the entrance was, but we didn’t think we could go any farther because we didn’t want to get in trouble. But then, a little girl comes around the corner (which we were standing next to her until we ran) says that Justin gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Right then I thought, that was my chance to meet him and it was gone because he wasn’t coming back out until Christmas and Washington was over which wasn’t until 7:30 or 8:00pm. We didn’t think that our friend’s mom was going to let us stay until then because it was 6-7 hours away. She said no at first, but then she finally said yes and let’s find something to do until then. We walked around and went to Burger King to get warm and get some food. Then we met these girls and snuck in the gate, we were talking and then all of a sudden a black car pulls up, and the back door opens and it’s Pattie Mallette! Justin’s mom!  I couldn’t believe it, I was so excited to see her.  We asked her if we could take pictures with us, and she said yeah, sure! She was so sweet and gorgeous, she gave us all individual hugs and we told her to tell Justin we said hi and she said ”Okay! I will.” Later that night, we met up with these two girls and they were so nice to us, we walked around with them for a while and we got information about Justin that we didn’t know. We kept asking the  security   guards  and the cops what time Justin was coming back out, and they all gave us different times so we were really confused. At this point, I was thinking “I’m never going to meet him” I was freezing cold, and I was getting exhausted. We went to the museum around 7:30 when the president left, and we waited out by the gates where they would walk out. We were standing there for about a half hour and I was thinking, “When Justin comes out he’s not going to take pictures with us.. he’ll be too tired and he’ll be rushing trying to get to the airport.” First to come out, was Cee Lo Green and then a couple minutes after came out Justin in his black and white suit and Selena right next to him. I was so excited, my heart was pounding with joy. We didn’t scream because we didn’t want to cause a scene and get Justin scared, we asked “Justin can we please get a picture?!” I was thinking, “Is he going to get in his car with Selena, (because she had already gotten in the car) or is he going to take pictures with the 15 fans he had left.” We were the only girls out still waiting for him at 8:00 at night, he went out the gate and said yeah, we can take pictures. MY HEART WAS POUNDING BY NOW AND I WAS SHAKING because he was like 3 feet away from me and he was walking closer. He took pictures with the other girls we were with, and then my friends. I found an opening and I went through it, and before I knew it I was standing right next to Justin, like less than a foot away. I asked him “Can we take a picture?” he said “Of course!” and smiled. He put his arm around me and I put my arm around him for the picture, after my friend took the picture he rubbed my back and tensed up on my shoulder, I said “Thank you so much Justin!” he looked at me, smiled and said, “Your welcome, your welcome!” I was still standing next to him after we took the picture then one of the body gaurds pulled him back and said, “Come on we got to go” he said “I’m sorry, I have to go!” I was the happiest girl in the world at that moment, being face to face with Justin Bieber. The one who, I have been trying to meet for 3 years, the one who’s music I listen to whenever I’m upset or mad. I would always tell my parents “I’m going to meet him this year” then they would always say “no your not” or ”yeah, right” but I proved them wrong. After Justin left, his crew started coming out, Alfredo, Dan, Scrappy, and even his mom came back out again. I said hi to her, and she smiled and said hi again! She remembered me! Dan came out, I asked him for a picture. He was so nice, he was talking to us and was telling us that they were on their way to L.A. to be on the X-Factor. We were exchanging laughs, and he was just so nice to us. Scrappy, came out and I asked him for a picture and he said “Yeah, sure real quick thought cause I gotta leave” we took the picture and then after Dan said to me, “Did you see that?! I photo-bombed that!” and started laughing. I felt like I knew them, they were all such nice people and I loved them! That day was the best day of my life. If anyone tells you, you can’t. YOU CAN, just believe in yourself. Dreams really do come true, and never say never. I love you Justin!
