Crazy White Folks Buying More Glock Pistols After Arizona Shooting Spree

SMH: After a Glock-wielding gunman killed six people at a Tucson shopping center on Jan. 8, Greg Wolff, the owner of two Arizona gun shops, told his manager to get ready for a stampede of new customers. Wolff was right. Instead of hurting sales, the massacre had the $499 semi-automatic pistols — popular with police, sport shooters and gangsters — flying out the doors of his Glockmeister stores in Mesa and Phoenix. “We’re at double our volume over what we usually do,” Wolff said two days after the shooting spree that also left 14 wounded, including Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who remains in critical condition. A national debate over weaknesses in state and federal gun laws stirred by the shooting has stoked fears among gun buyers that stiffer restrictions may be coming from Congress, gun dealers say. The result is that a deadly demonstration of the weapon’s effectiveness has also fired up sales of handguns in Arizona and other states, according to federal law enforcement data. “When something like this happens people get worried that the government is going to ban stuff,” Wolff said. Arizona gun dealers say that among the biggest sellers over the past two days is the Glock 19 made by privately held Glock GmbH, based in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, the model used in the shooting. Sales Jump One-day sales of handguns in Arizona jumped 60 percent to 263 on Jan. 10 compared with 164 the corresponding Monday a year ago, the second-biggest increase of any state in the country, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation data. Handgun sales rose 65 percent to 395 in Ohio; 16 percent to 672 in California; 38 percent to 348 in Illinois; and 33 percent to 206 in New York, the FBI data show. Sales increased nationally about 5 percent, to 7,906 guns. Federally tracked gun sales, which are drawn from sales in gun stores that require a federal background check, also jumped following the 2007 massacre at Virginia Tech, in which 32 people were killed. “Whenever there is a huge event, especially when it’s close to home, people do tend to run out and buy something to protect their family,” said Don Gallardo, a manager at Arizona Shooter’s World in Phoenix, who said that the number of people signing up for the store’s concealed weapons class doubled over the weekend. Gallardo said he expects handgun sales to climb steadily throughout the week. Permissive Laws Jared Loughner, the 22-year-old accused in the shooting, has a petty criminal record, yet so far there’s no evidence that his background contained anything that would have prevented him from buying a handgun in Arizona, where limits on owning and carrying a gun are among the most permissive in the country, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, a gun- control advocacy group. Critics have focused on the extended magazine used in the shooting. It was illegal until 2004 under the expired federal ban on assault weapons. The clip — still banned in some states and popular in Arizona, gun dealers say — allegedly allowed Loughner to fire 33 rounds without reloading. Democratic Representative Carolyn McCarthy of New York said this week that she plans to introduce legislation that would ban the high-capacity magazine. McCarthy’s husband was one of six people shot to death in 1993 by a lone gunman on a Long Island railroad train. Her son was among the 19 people wounded. “The fact that the guy had a magazine that could carry 33 rounds, he was not out to just kill. He was there to do a mass killing,” said Dr. Lawrence Kobilinsky, a forensics expert at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Virginia Tech Light and easy to use, a Glock 9 mm was also wielded by the Virginia Tech killer, Seung-Hui Cho, in a spree that left 32 people dead. The gun is among the most popular sidearms for U.S. police departments. A negative for law enforcement is that the rifling of the barrel makes it almost impossible to match a bullet to an individual weapon with ballistic tests, Kobilinsky said. “It’s one of the greatest guns made in the history of the world,” said Wolff, whose two stores sell Glock-made weapons almost exclusively. When Loughner allegedly walked into Tucson’s Sportsman’s Warehouse last November to buy a Glock 19 — favored as a concealed weapon because it is slightly smaller and lighter than similar caliber handguns — federal law would have required a background check via the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, a telephone-based check administered by the FBI. Background Check Loughner would have had to present his driver’s license and answer several questions, including queries on past drug use, domestic violence or felony convictions. Wolff said in most cases the check takes less than five minutes and the number of denials he receives is a tiny fraction of the total. Wolff called the shooting “horrible.” Nonetheless, it has created a surge of publicity for the gun, he said. “It’s in the news now. I’m sure the Green Bay Packers are selling all kinds of jerseys today as well,” he said. “I just think our state embraces guns.” Arizona law allows anyone to carry a gun in public if it’s in full view, making it what’s known as an open-carry state. Until recently, gun store owners say, it was common to see people carrying weapons in grocery stores or coffee shops. That’s less true today, because last year that state passed a law allowing individuals to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. Gun Law Rating Daniel Vise, senior attorney with the Brady Campaign, said Arizona received a score of two out of 100 on the organization’s rating of state gun laws, and that the rate of gun deaths in the state is one and a half times the national average. Brady Campaign spokeswoman Caroline Brewer said that some states require local law enforcement agencies to approve gun permits, a system that would have given authorities a chance to further assess Loughner, whose behavior acquaintances have described as erratic. Loughner tried to buy ammunition the morning of the shooting at a local Wal-Mart Stores Inc. outlet, then left during the sale process, according to a statement by the company. “If a clerk at Wal-Mart picked something up and refused to sell this guy some ammunition, we can certainly imagine that law enforcement would have picked that up as well,” Brewer said. The Many Faces of Cameron Diaz of the Day

a href=”/cms/u.php?u=67791″> Cameron Diaz brought her long, lean, fit, old lady body I’d fuck, even if it’s not quite what it once was, because it’s better than most old lady bodies I see, maybe because she decided to be vain and not have kids, you know spending her millions on herself, living the good life traveling and partying and fucking various men, while all the other girls she went to high school with live the suburban hell life….but a face can’t always hide the hard living, the thousands of loads it has had dripping off its chin, botched botox, sun damage and a 40th birthday…Not that that doesn’t make her just as erotic as she once was, if anything the experiences that have tainted her ass, make her far more appealing, like choosing the veteran hooker over the fresh faced teenage runaway, only the masturbation version, that is if you can jerk off to a bitch in a red dress, which you can, cuz you grew up on comic books and Green Horney Hornet is all the porn you need….before realizing Seth Rogan is in it….cuz he fucking sucks…

Cameron Diaz Almost Flashes Some Sideboob

Here’s Cameron Diaz at the premiere of The Green Hornet the other night showing off her muscular super fit old chick arms. Alright she’s not that old, but the definition in her arms is freaking me out a little bit. How come my blogging arms aren’t this cut? I use them practically every day to get out of bed, to lift my laptop and to apply moisturizer to various parts of my body so you’d think they have some sort of muscularity. Strange. Anyhow, Cameron looks good for a woman her age. Enjoy.

Gwyneth Paltrow To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

‘Country Strong’ star and musical guest Cee Lo will appear on January 15 episode. By Eric Ditzian Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic After Jim Carrey opens up the 2011 run of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, Gwyneth Paltrow will take over hosting duties on January 15, NBC announced on Tuesday (January 4). The appearance will mark the Oscar-winning actress’ third time hosting “SNL” and comes as she’s promoting her musical drama, “Country Strong,” which expands into a wide release this Friday. Paltrow will be joined by musical guest Cee Lo , whose hit single, “F— You,” she covered to wide acclaim on “Glee” last year. “I really am just flattered … that not only ‘Glee’ [covered it], but it was Gwyneth [singing],” Cee Lo told MTV News last November. “I didn’t realize when we first did the clearances for it. I just thought that maybe it would be sung by the cast, but [it] turns out to be her. I’m like, ‘That’s just, that’s too awesome.’ ” Paltrow has put her musical talents front and center in recent months. In addition to “Country Strong” and her turn on “Glee” (where she also performed a mash-up of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and “Singin’ in the Rain”), the actress performed at the Country Music Awards in November and has already booked a return trip to “Glee.” She’s even discussed the possibility of making an entire country album. “I think if I was going to make a country record, it would be like a super-bare, kind of stripped-back kind of country,” Paltrow told MTV News. “Like a little bit of bluegrass-influenced kind of thing.” Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: ‘Country Strong’ MTV News Extended Play: Cee Lo Related Photos The Evolution Of: Gwyneth Paltrow Related Artists Gwyneth Paltrow Cee Lo Green

Green Day To Drop Awesome Live Album/DVD In March

While a track list isn’t available, band has hinted that ‘Cigarettes and Valentines’ could make the cut. By James Montgomery Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News For years now, Green Day have made a point of turning their live shows into all-out arena-rock events, complete with gratuitous pyro, even more gratuitous stage props (T-shirt launchers, toilet-paper guns, water cannons, etc.), and, of course, some good-old-fashioned crowd participation . And now, they’re packaging all that madness for the masses, with the appropriately titled Awesome as F—, a live CD/DVD set to hit stores March 15. That’s according to a spokesperson for their label, Reprise Records, though eagle-eyed fans probably could have guessed something was in the works as far back as August, when the band took to their Twitter account to announce, “We’ve been recording our live shows since the beginning of tour. Possible live album coming. A ton of songs!” In other tweets , they encouraged fans to bring “Awesome as F—” signs to shows and even hinted that a version of “Cigarettes and Valentines” — a song from their now-legendary scrapped album that pre-dated American Idiot, which they performed live for the first time during an August show in Denver — would appear on the album . Awesome as F— is already listed on Amazon.com as a two-disc set. At press time, a track list for the album was not available. Green Day’s last live album was 2005’s Bullet in a Bible, recorded at the Milton Keynes National Bowl in England. Last year, they also released a mini live set, Last Night on Earth, taken from a performance in Tokyo. Are you excited for the Green Day live album? Let us know in the comments! Kings Of Leon Tour Bus Fire Postpones London Show

Fire began on one bus, spread to another in O2 arena’s loading area. By James Dinh Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images Kings of Leon scorched the charts with their hit song “Sex on Fire,” but on Tuesday morning (December 21) it was their tour bus that caught fire, forcing the rock band to postpone their sold-out O2 arena show in London. According to BBC News , the fire began on one coach in the venue’s loading area before spreading to another bus; eventually, the buses were completely burned out. Sixty firefighters and ambulance crews were on-site, and six people were treated for excessive smoke inhalation. There were no serious injuries reported. While the fire didn’t impact the seating or stage areas of the O2 arena, the entire venue had to be evacuated. A spokesperson for the O2 addressed the incident: “Unfortunately due to this morning’s fire on board one of the tour buses at the O2, tonight’s Kings of Leon concert will now be postponed,” said a statement on the O2 website. “Whilst there is no damage to the O2 there is now insufficient time to rig the arena for tonight’s performance.” The spokesperson emphasized that the crew had worked hard to follow protocol and made every attempt to go on with the show, but found there simply wasn’t enough time to set up for the evening performance. A rep for Kings of Leon said that Tuesday’s concert in London had sold out “months ago,” and a new date would be announced shortly. Related Artists Kings Of Leon
