Celebrities to Spurn Twitter, Facebook For Charity

Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher are going dark. All in the name of charity. The aforementioned foursome and others are signing off Twitter and Facebook Tuesday until they raise $1 million for World AIDS Day. Keys’ charity, Keep A Child Alive, is staging a campaign that will have celebs such as Lady GaGa, Justin Timberlake, and Usher signing off of all social media. PEACE OUT : Donate money or Usher won’t be back on Twitter! The “Digital Life Sacrifice” will feature the stars’ filming “last tweet and testament” videos which will show them lying coffins to represent their “digital death.” “It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said . “It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up.” “It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that. This is direct, instantly emotional way, a little sarcastic too, as a way to get people to pay attention.” Leigh Blake, President and co-founder of Keep A Child Alive, says: “We’re trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we’re all from? It’s about love and respect and human dignity.” She also added that ” Lady Gaga is going to raise it all by herself.” “She’s got a very, very mobilized fan base and that’s beautiful to watch I think … she’s able to draw their attention to these issues that are very important, you know, so that people follow it and act,” she says of the Little Monsters. We wouldn’t doubt it.

Taylor Swift Sings To Kanye West, Maybe, At VMAs

Swift debuts ballad about someone who lost his path in life. By James Dinh Taylor Swift performs at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images A year after Kanye west interrupted her Best Female Artist acceptance speech, Taylor Swift took the stage for a surprise performance without any interference at the 2010 Video Music Awards . But while the rapper didn’t appear onstage during her set, he might have been the subject of her new song, off her upcoming album, Speak Now. In a simple white dress, the singer kept her performance of the new song inside the theater, as opposed to last year’s New York subway production . Moments from last year’s Kanye fiasco flashed on an old television screen before the camera panned to a darkly lit Swift. As the songstress played her steel guitar, she sang the story of an individual who has lost their path. “I guess you really did it this time/ Left yourself in your war path/ Lost your balance on a tight rope/ Lost your mind trying to get it back,” she sang. Swift slowly began to walk away from her old country house set and toward the center main stage as song lyrics began to flash on the background screens. A bright sunset emerged behind her, possibly revealing that the 20-year-old has put such events behind her. While there’s no confirmation as to whether the song is about West, phrases like “32 and still growing up now” seem to indicate as much. It’s no surprise that Swift’s personal life seems to be the center of her new material. Earlier this year, she explained to fans that she was going to infuse her life experiences into her music, saying, “I’ve experienced a lot of things that I’ve been dying to write about and a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment that I didn’t,” she told fans during a live chat about her album. Rumors of a Swift performance have been circulating the Internet for days. Some reports even indicated that the singer was to be joined onstage by West, who recently apologized for last year’s fiasco (again) and revealed that he’s written a song for the pop star. Swift was nominated for Best Female Video for her fairytale high school walkthrough clip “15,” but lost the Moonman to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” What did you think of Taylor’s new song? Saints’ Defensive Mantra: Get the Ball

Filed under: Colts, Saints, Super Bowl, NFL AnalysisMIAMI — An incomplete pass is a dead ball, end of play. Everybody knows this. It is a football rule that applies everywhere — except on the New Orleans Saints’ practice field. There, Saints defensive players have been so conditioned to seek and obtain the ball that every incomplete pass is scooped up by a defender and run back for a “touchdown.” It may look silly. It may even be silly. But it fits with the Saints’ core defensive plan, which is all about taking the ball away from the offense. “We have a philosophy on this defense,” linebacker Scott Fujita said. “And that is, whether the ball is in the air or on the ground or whatever, it’s ours. That’s our ball.” It’s a high-risk, high-intensity way to play defense, but it works for the Saints, who ranked 25th in the NFL this year in yards allowed but second in the league with 39 forced turnovers.
