Seeing Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters play searing rock ‘n’ roll with onetime teen idol Rick Springfield wasn’t exactly on my bucket list prior to Friday night’s epic Sound City Players concert, but I will die a happier man now that I’ve witnessed such an unexpected — and unexpectedly thrilling — team up. Springfield’s set with Grohl and the Foos was the high point of a marathon concert that featured performances by a slew of musical artists who appear in Sound City because of their connection to the now-defunct studio. Among them were Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, Fear leader Lee Ving , Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Alain Johannes, Slip Knot’s Corey Taylor, Masters of Reality’s Chris Goss and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic , who got a hug from Grohl when he took the stage. Check out Movieline’s Photo Gallery of Grohl and The Foo Fighters’ Sundance show. “It’s going to be a long fuckin’ night — you know that,” Grohl told the audience with a big grin as he and the band took the stage just after 9:30 and invited the first of the night’s guests, Johannes, to strap on his guitar. Instead of a tightly curated series of group singalongs, the show became a sprawling series of mini-concerts that focused on the work of the artists who were on stage at that time. For instance, Nielsen’s time on stage saw the band — with Grohl on drums, Novoselic on bass and Slipknot’s Taylor on vocals — do spirited versions of Cheap Trick’s “Ain’t That A Shame” and “Surrender,” the latter with the participation of the well-lubricated crowd , which offered up the “Mommy’s all right, Daddy’s all right, they just seem a little weird,” portion of the chorus. Springfield’s set resonated even more with Sundancers judging from how violently their dancing and jumping shook the club’s floor. It was an extended moment of pure rock bliss in which all the labels that get applied to music in terms of what’s cool (Foo Fighters) and what’s not (Rick Springfield) fell away and infectious, enduring pop music was celebrated for its essence. Grohl introduced the former General Hospital actor as “the one, the only, fucking Rick Springfield,” and the band played together on a number of the former pop star’s 1980s radio hits, “I’ve Done Everything For You,” “Love Is Alright Tonite” and “Jessie’s Girl.” And watching the beatific look on punk pioneer-turned-Foo-Fighter Pat Smear’s face as he played along to these Top 40 hits was indisputable proof that a good song is a good song. As Grohl said archly between songs: “You’ve cracked the code, Rick Springfield. You’ve figured out how to write the perfect song. Goddamn you.” Meanwhile, Springfield rose to the occasion of playing with one of the most balls-out rock bands in show business. In Sound City , he reveals somewhat sheepishly that Pat Benatar’s husband Neil Giraldo was pulled into the recording studio to lay down the famous guitar riff to “Jessie’s Girl” because the song’s producer didn’t think Springfield’s playing was up to snuff.” But that humiliation was very much in the past at Friday’s concert. Onstage at Park City Live, Springfield behaved like a bona fide guitar god as he traded licks with Grohl. The Foo Fighters and their enthusiastic leader would play on long after Springfield left the stage — and a remark by one of the evening’s grizzled rock veterans put the concert and the movie that spawned it in perspective. John Fogerty was the next-to-last guest star on stage, and during a set that included CCR’s “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising” and “Fortunate Son,” he told the crowd that the Sound City documentary and concert had come together because of Grohl’s “almost child-like love of music.” May he stay forever young. Justin Bieber pot controversy? What Justin Bieber pot controversy?!? The singer focused on what really matters yesterday prior to a concert in Salt Lake City, spending time with Millie Flamm, a seven-year old cancer patient at Primary Children’s Medical Center. “Look at this bundle of joy,” Justin wrote as a caption to the following Instagram photo. “I love her.” Millie’s mother told The Deseret News that Bieber was “so sweet” to the child. “He walked in and her whole face just lit up.” Bieber also sang a song to Millie and gave her both a kiss on the cheek and his guitar pick before leaving. This is not the first time Bieber has visited a cancer patient in the hospital. He made the dreams of a four-year old named Hailey Roser come true in October; and also grew famously close to Avalanna Routh , a six-year old dubbed “Mrs. Bieber” who passed away in September.

I met Justin for the first time on October 26, 2012. Back in May I purchased tickets for me and a friend to the concert with plans to turn it in to a girls weekend. I had been waiting years just to see Justin live, I never dreamt I would have the opportunity to meet him as well! A few days before the concert, my friend ended up having a huge event at work and could not get off in time for the meet & greet. It was disappointing, but I was still going to meet Justin and she would still be able to make in time for the concert. On the day of the concert, I was a ball of nerves. I made the trip from Iowa to Kansas City with plenty of time to spare and I couldn’t believe how crazy the venue was! People were everywhere. I followed the crowds and made my way toward where all of the buses were parked. We saw Carly and her bus, but no sign of Justin. While I was waiting I came up with a BRILLIANT plan of bringing someone into the meet & greet with me. I figured I had 2 paid M&G’s, I might as well use them! Security, however, did not like my plan. They got all worked up and told me there was no way unless they were going to use the concert ticket as well. Fail. Shortly after, we got ushered into a single file line to wait for the meet & greet. Everyone, including myself, was so nervous and anxious, it was all we could talk about! Kenny came out while we were waiting in line and shook hands and said hi, but he seemed busy trying to figure something out and didn’t hang around. Pretty soon the line began to move and it was my turn to meet Justin! Everyone was going in with their groups of 2 (or 4), but I was solo! When I stepped up, part of his security team said, ‘We have a solo!’ so I turned to him and said, ‘You make that sound so bad, I promise I have friends!’ We were all laughing when they pulled back the curtain, and Justin looked over and said, ‘Something funny?’. I couldn’t believe it. It was all so surreal and went by in a blur. I walked up to him and he put his arm around my waist and Mike snapped the picture. I remember seeing Alfredo right next to Mike and couldn’t help but stare – his smile is so amazing! Justin rubbed my back and said “Thank you, sweetie,” gave me a hug and I wished him good luck. Walking out, I couldn’t believe what just happened and had this permanent smile plastered to my face. Soon it was time for the concert and we made our way to our front row seats. It was unbelievable! The best seats I could have asked for. Cody and Carly both put on great shows, so much energy! Justin came out during Cody’s performance, which was hilarious and surprised everyone. Justin was incredible, there really is no other words to describe him or the show. I didn’t watch any videos from previous shows (talk about self-control), so I really didn’t know what to fully expect. He blew all of my expectations out of the water. In the midst of the show, I looked down our row and saw Bruce (Justin’s Grandpa) enjoying the show. I don’t think a smile left his face either, you could tell how proud he was. Once the concert ended, we had to wait to be ushered out of the venue. We saw that Dan was still on stage so we tried getting his attention before we had to leave our seats. He ended up coming over to the edge of the stage, talked for a few minutes and tossed us his guitar picks. Walking out of the venue, I tweeted our picture with the guitar picks & thanked Dan, which he then re-tweeted! It was such an incredible night and one that I will never forget. A big thank you to Justin and the entire team for making it such a memorable experience! -Kristin (@KNDempsey) More: I met Justin for the first time on October 26, 2012. Back in May…
My name is Sophie, I’m 18 and I have been supporting Justin for 3-4 years now. I seriously don’t know what I would be doing with my life right now if it wasn’t for Justin. I always knew that in my mind I would meet Justin, even if it took 10 years, I would. I always got bullied for supporting him and always got told: “you’re never going to meet him Sophie” or “he will never know you exist so just stop!” or “step into reality and stop telling everyone your going to meet him because your not!” But the thing is, I always used to laugh and say, “You watch I’ll prove you wrong one day!” and guess what…I DID, TWICE. I met Justin at his hotel the day before, and at a meet & greet the day after. I live in Australia and I travelled 25 hours halfway across the world JUST to see Justin perform at the Believe Tour. It wasn’t just to see him because I ended up with MEET & GREET tickets at the Barclays Centre on the 12th November 2012. We got to New York and it’s beautiful. We woke up on the 12 th November and that was the day of Justin’s concert. We were sitting in the lobby stealing the wifi and my e-mails went off and I had about 20 e-mails, so I just flicked through and deleted all of them until I realized when I clicked delete, I saw “Congratulations Sophie!” and it was from Bieberfever! I went into deleted items and brought the e-mail back into my inbox to read that I WON TWO MEET & GREET PASSES TO JUSTIN’S CONCERT THAT NIGHT. I cried and my heart was beating so fast, even though we already had meet & greets. I was thinking…what am I going to do with them. While I was lining up for the M&G I told my dad to find two girls so he went up to 2 young girls and said, “Have you got tickets to the show?” and confused they were like “Yes, yes we do! Why?” He said, “My daughter won 2 M&G passes for Justin Bieber and she already has meet & greet tickets, would you like them?” It was honestly the most amazing thing I have ever heard. (I was on the phone with my dad at the time) . One of the girls started to cry while the other one screamed “ARE YOU LYING? OH MY GOD PLEASE DONT LIE!” When it was true, they just kept saying, “OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH, THIS MEANS SO MUCH FOR MY GIRLS” and they walked into the entry to go meet Justin. Justin is so nice, and so amazing. I walked in and he said, “Hello ladies” and I felt so faint! I said “HI JUSTIN!”, he hugged me and we got a photo! I said, “We came from Australia, just for you!” and it was the best moment of my life . He is just flawless and I love him. After the show, Lauren and I got interviewed by some documentary people outside. We got filmed for about 10 minutes, they were asking us questions about how long it took to get to NY, how much we love Justin, why we love him etc. It was a great way to end an AMAZING night. -@SimplyBieberr View post: My name is Sophie, I’m 18 and I have been supporting Justin for…
This video is a play by play of My Bieber Experience. December 1st, 2012 was the best day of my life. I’m a 21 year old Belieber and I was extremely excited when my dad told my sisters and I that we got amazing seats plus meet and greets for the Toronto show. Finally the day came and we were on our way. We were running late and the Toronto traffic was super bad. We had planned on checking into our hotel, getting ready and then head over to stadium, but at 4 p.m. we were driving by the Rogers Center and that’s when we found out the meet and greet was at 4:30. We pulled in, got changed and ready in the parking garage then zoomed to the gate to pick up our tickets and wristbands. After we got them, we were beyond excited when we walked into the stadium with our orange wristbands. Since we were late we were near the end and there were hundreds of people in front of us. We were told we had to take the picture with a group of 6 so my two sisters and I joined up with a girl (@thebieberbarbie) and then two others. There were SO many people and we waited for a while. While waiting we saw Pattie, Diane, Bruce, Alfredo, Kenny etc. The wait didn’t seem too long but once I turned the corner, saw the black curtain and knew Justin was behind it, I was in shock. They told us it was our turn to go in. I remember I made myself lean over and look Justin in the eyes. He said, “Hey” then double looked at me and then said, “How are you” and then we took the picture. I was holding his arm which was behind the girl beside me (@thebieberbarbie). After the picture was taken and we were ushered out, it was pretty quick. I have some regrets about not saying anything because I was in shock but it was still amazing. I remember looking at his flawless face not believing I was seeing it in real life. I honestly didn’t even know he was wearing a hat until our meet & greet was posted online. Alfredo was at the exit of the meet & greet and was filming everyone’s reactions which was cool. After the meet & greet we went outside, found our gate and headed to our seats. We were shocked to see how amazing they were. We were right beside the catwalk. We got wristbands that allowed us to stand right next to it during the concert. When Justin came down in those wings I almost lost it, we were so close we could see his eyes under the sunglasses and literally count the sweat drops on his forehead. After Justin sang ‘Be Alright’ and ‘Fall,’ he tossed the guitar pick he was using into the crowd. I remember thinking, there’s no way I’ll get it because I can’t lose my spot along this fence. I turned to look at the lucky person who caught it and that’s when I saw my dad bent over and to my surprise he stood up with the pick in his hand! ! My sisters and I freaked out. We have his guitar pick! (6:24 in the video) During ‘One Less Lonely Girl’ Justin touched my hand and I got video footage of it (9:13 in the video). He also touched it again during another song but I didn’t get it on video. We got to go backstage and meet up with Pattie and Diane during The Wanted,’s performance and we actually saw them coming off stage on the way back to our seats and took a picture with them. Overall it was an amazing experience. I still can’t believe I can say “I met Justin Bieber”. I tried to get tickets for the 2013 Summer Toronto shows but was unsuccessful. I’m still hopeful because of what Justin has taught us – Never Say Never right, and you’ve gotta believe. -@nicholedouble Visit link: This video is a play by play of My Bieber Experience. December…
Justin Bieber went to sing Die In Your Arms in Detroit while on his Believe tour, got up in the air and then realized his guitar was out of tune. In the process of tuning it, his guitar string broke!
