Rihanna Shows Her True Colors In ‘Rude Boy’ Video

Video is a colorful romp in the world of pop art and Caribbean style by ‘Hard’ director Melina Matsoukas. By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna in “Rude Boy” Photo: Def Jam Rihanna ‘s new video for “Rude Boy” is a colorful departure from the dark fare previously released from her Rated R album, like “Russian Roulette” and “Hard.” In it, Rihanna writhes around in a kaleidoscope of prints and colors, embracing her Caribbean roots in Jamaican-inspired costumes. The singer told Carson Daly on his Amp Radio show that the pop-art-inspired video was shot by Melina Matsoukas, who also worked with the pop star on her equally sexy “Hard” music video . In it she goofs around and gets sexy with a male extra, a zebra, a motorcycle and a stuffed lion in between whaling away on a drum kit. The video, which premiered on PerezHilton.com on Wednesday night, appears aristically influenced Andy Warhol’s pop art vibe as well as Keith Haring, thanks to its funky graffiti room. Rihanna once again shows off her fashion sense in the video, with lots of tight-fitting hot pants, a gold catsuit paired with a long wig and another catsuit inspired by the print in the Haringesque room. While Rihanna keeps the sexy factor up in the video, she also manages to throw in a little humor when she sings the line “Babe, if I don’t feel it, I ain’t faking,” giving an all-telling wink to the camera about the song’s tongue-in-cheek lyrics. “[It’s] completely different from any other video I’ve shot before,” she told Daly, describing it as “pretty freakin’ cool.” “A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. ‘Rude Boy’ is more playing along the lines from my roots. We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall-queen type,” the singer said. Have you seen Rihanna’s video for “Rude Boy”? What do you think of it? Lionel Richie explains the need for ‘current’ stars in song’s re-recording. By Eric Ditzian Justin Bieber Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage In 1985, it was Michael Jackson , Bruce Springsteen and Tina Turner leading the “We Are the World” charge to ease a devastating famine in Africa. Twenty-five years later, as the recording industry once again mobilizes to face an unspeakable crisis — the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti — a new generation of artists has risen up for a fresh spin on the iconic song. Lionel Richie, an original co-writer of the tune and organizer of the remake, says solving a 2010 crisis requires singers relevant to the 2010 public. “[I]t was time for a group of faces that this world knows now,” he said in a recent interview. “We have the standard group. I call them the Marines, the ones who went in first and charted the course. But for it to be current, you have to make it current.” Newly release footage from the recording session in early February, prominently shows those new faces, including Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne , Wyclef Jean, Miley Cyrus, Drake, T-Pain, Kanye West and Keri Hilson. They joined veterans such as Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand in the studio, singing as photos of the Haitian devastation played on oversize screens behind them. Quincy Jones, a producer on the original song as well as the new one, stood in front of the group, listening to the proceedings via headphones. The video also gives us glimpses of some solo recording sessions by Bieber , Pink, Josh Groban, Mary J. Blige, Akon and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. “You couldn’t get one person to recognize Haiti three months ago,” Richie said. “It was just business as usual before, and if you died on the street, you died on the street. Now, the whole world is forced on Haiti. We had to lose 250,000 people to do it. But now we can’t walk away from it. Now we have to pay attention to it.” All proceeds from sales of the “We Are the World” will go toward Haitian relief efforts . “Donate,” Jones urged viewers. “Give it up, whatever you got, to help people who cannot help themselves at this point and to rebuild the country.” Learn more about what you can do to help with earthquake-relief efforts in Haiti , and for more information, see Think MTV . Will a New Baby Save Brangelina?

Just when you think you’ve heard everything, Life & Style sets another low (high?) in celebrity gossip reporting. Kudos to that fine supermarket publication. Apparently, the rough patch encountered by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is about to come to an end, for one very cute, cuddly reason: Brangelina Baby #7! That’s right! “Brad confirms” (no he doesn’t) that “another kid” is on the way (likely for his barber and his wife) in the new issue of this reputable tabloid. To think that just weeks ago, he was in love with Jennifer Aniston again. This guy makes some quick turnarounds regarding relationships and parenting. A baby will bring them closer together … the first six didn’t? Things like this particular story may be harmless enough, but do make you wonder how people buy these magazines or at least take them seriously in any way. Some of the more serious, slanderous allegations made over Brad and Angelina’s love life in recent weeks have actually resulted in a lawsuit by the hot couple. In news about them that’s actually true, Angelina Jolie is awesome . She’s visiting Haiti and donating obscene sums of money to their earthquake relief efforts. Bravo, Angie.

Angelina Jolie Visits Haiti, Is Awesome

Yesterday, we showered Angelina Jolie with praise due to her personal involvement in so many charitable causes, the latest of which being the earthquake in Haiti. For irrational, jealous reasons, however, many haters commented that Jolie only pretends to care about the less fortunate because it helps her image. There’s no proof of this, merely the assumption that someone who once acted strangely (i.e. wore a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s blood around her neck) couldn’t possibly have a selfless bone in her body. We find this narrow-minded and absurd. But even if we were to grant the premise that Jolie has ulterior motives for her actions, we ask readers: SO WHAT? Does that make her money any less helpful to the charities it is given to? Does this make her presence any less inspiring to the Haitians she visited this week? Instead of taking wild guesses about what’s going on inside Angelina’s mind and heart, why not look at the actions themselves: She and Brad Pitt have donated $1 million to relief efforts in Haiti. She visited the SOS NGO Village for children in Port-au-Prince yesterday, along with the Doctors Without Borders hospital in the region. You want to believe this is all some calculated PR move? Go right ahead, even though we pity you for taking such a cynical, negative stance. But in an era where Kim Kardashian is admired by millions for posing on the red carpet, isn’t it refreshing to see Jolie on the front lines of poverty, regardless of her internal motivations for being there? The people of Haiti sure think so. Watch their reaction to Angelina in the video below. In Haiti

Angelina Spreads Her Goodwill

After spending some quality time with Brad Pitt and son Maddox at the Super Bowl , Angelina Jolie hopped on a plane and headed to the Dominican Republic. As part of her humanitarian duties, she met with President Lionel Fernandez to discuss the relief efforts in neighboring Hait i. Jolie and Pitt have been apart of Haitian relief efforts since 2006 and after the devastating 7.0 earthquake hit, the couple have donated more than $1 million to help out. Jolie also toured a trauma hospital to visit survivors of the worst quake in history. She is expected to make her way to Haiti later today to meet with those who were affected.

Angelina Jolie is Better Than Most Celebrities

You may dislike her because she stole Jennifer Aniston’s man, but we have a message for all the haters: Get over it! That was five years ago! At this point, especially when compared to other stars in her industry, there should be nothing but positive things to say about Angelina Jolie. She donates millions to charity every year, she doesn’t seek out the paparazzi and she actually gets involved in important causes. The latest case in point: Jolie spent time in the Dominican Republic yesterday, visiting hospitalized survivors of the Haitian earthquake. She even met with Dominican President Leonel Fernandez. Today, meanwhile, the UN goodwill ambassador is off to Haiti itself, actually immersing herself in the destruction down there. Jolie doesn’t whine about the tabloid coverage of her relationship. She doesn’t Tweet about mundane happenings in her life. She even bypassed the Hope for Haiti Now telethon because she wasn’t interested in getting her face on TV. She simply wants to help. Anyone that takes issue with this actress should look in the mirror to see where the real problem lies.
