Which comes first, fasting or feasting? The disciples of John the Baptist were upset with Jesus’ disciples because they did not fast. Fasting was one of the three most important religious duties, along with prayer and almsgiving. Jesus gave a simple explanation. There’s a time for fasting and a time for feasting (or celebrating). (Matthew 21:21-33) Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: “Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey. When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned. Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way. Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.’ They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?” They answered him, “He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times.” Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes? Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you There also comes a time when the Lord’s disciples must bear the cross of affliction and purification. For the disciple there is both a time for rejoicing in the Lord’s presence and celebrating his goodness and a time for seeking the Lord with humility and fasting and for mourning over sin. Do you take joy in the Lord’s presence with you and do you express sorrow and contrition for your sins? Jesus goes on to warn his disciples about the problem of the “closed mind” that refuses to learn new things. Jesus used an image familiar to his audience – new and old wineskins. In Jesus’ times, wine was stored in wineskins, not bottles. New wine poured into skins was still fermenting. The gases exerted gave pressure. New wine skins were elastic enough to take the pressure, but old wine skins easily burst because they were hard. What did Jesus mean by this comparison? Affirmation Of The Day:Live In The Present Moment. Are we to reject the old in place of the new? Just as there is a right place and a right time for fasting and for feasting, so there is a right place for the old as well as the new.  Jesus says the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old (Matthew 13:52). How impoverished we would be if we only had the Old Testament or the New Testament, rather than both. The Lord gives us wisdom so we can make the best use of both the old and the new. He doesn’t want us to hold rigidly to the past and to be resistant to the new work of his Holy Spirit in our lives. He wants our minds and hearts to be like the new wine skins – open and ready to receive the new wine of the Holy Spirit . On September 29, rapper T.I. is being released from a halfway house where he’s spending his last days after serving a year sentence for violating his probation last year. When he gets out he’s going to do it BIG! He’s inviting exclusive VIP guests to his welcome home party on Sunday October 2nd at an undisclosed location. Talks are that the party’s already estimated at $100,000! Here’s what TMZ is reporting: “T.I. is re-writing the book when it comes to welcome home parties — because the recently-released rapper isn’t throwing himself a nightclub bash … he’s having a brunch in Atlanta! But don’t expect tea and crumpets — we’re told good pal Diddy is personally shipping in 150 bottles of Ciroc, one for each person in attendance. We’re told the whole bash will cost around $100K, with $20K just on food and additional $8K on dessert. The big surprise of the night — reps from AKOO Clothing, T.I.’s clothing line, will measure the VIP guests for custom-made clothing gifts. It’s set to go down on October 2, two days after T.I. gets released from the halfway house”. T.I. Spotted Out Of The Halfway House [PHOTO] T.I. T.I. Released From Prison, Sent Back To Halfway House

More here:

T.I. has finally returned to a halfway house to complete his prison sentence. The ATL rapper was originally yanked out of the halfway house last week and returned to prison for allegedly engaging in talks with producers for his reality show on his tour bus. T.I.’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, told TMZ, “We have good reason to believe that this favorable result was reached because of the proactive and assertive approach taken to protect T.I.’s rights by providing B.O.P. officials and the media with reliable and accurate information and that T.I. did not intend to violate his transfer furlough or any other B.O.P. rules en route from the prison facility in Arkansas to the halfway house in Atlanta.” The lawyer also added that, “T.I. will be released from custody on Sept. 29, and then will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for a period of 1 year.” SOURCE: Hip Hop Wired RELATED POSTS: 2 Unauthorized People On T.I.’s Luxury Bus [REPORT] Tiny On T.I. Down For Her Man: Tiny Talks That Isht About The Prison Officials “Personal Vendetta” Against The Kang

Don’t mess with her man, or she’ll be the one to break it to ya… According to TMZ reports : T.I.’s wife tells TMZ, prison officials are trying to make an example out of her husband by dragging him back to prison — targeting him simply because he’s a famous rapper. Tameka “Tiny” Cottle tells us, “It’s important that the world know how unfair he’s being treated on such minor charges … all because he’s T.I.” According to Tiny, T.I.’s the victim of a vicious double standard — “There are way more dangerous and carefree [celebrities] that get slapped on the wrist and sent on their way.” Tiny adds, “Our family needs [him] … and because of someone’s personal vendetta against him, we have to watch our kids’ sad faces everyday when he still doesn’t show up at home.” T.I. — who was hauled back to prison last week on his way to a halfway house — is scheduled for release in a few weeks. It’s definitely shady the way they’re doing lil T.I., let the Kang be great!!

Tiny On T.I. Being In Federal Custody: “This Is A Bunch Of Bulls**t”

As we reported earlier, the Federal Bureau of Prisons moved T.I. from the Atlanta halfway house he had arrived at yesterday to the Atlanta Federal Prison. Well needless to say, Tip’s wife Tiny is not happy. Tip’s lawyer said the rapper was back in federal custody due to a flap over his use of a luxury bus to report to a halfway house. Tiny is furious and told TMZ that prison officials “walked him over, took pics and told him ‘good luck in life’ and said nothing about the ‘inappropriate’ transportation.’” She added: “This is a bunch of bulls**t … they should have said something before he got on the bus … T.I. would have politely gotten into a van. T.I. is one of the strongest individuals I know … and they just trying to break him in more ways than one and it’s not gonna work! ‘Cause what God got for him, can’t no man take that away … period!” Spotted @ TMZ.com T.I.
