‘Harry Potter’ Fans Weigh In On Harry And Hermione Topless Kiss

‘They’re totally topless and it’s really creepy,’ one uncomfortable fan says after midnight ‘Deathly Hallows’ screening. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Evan Leong “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” fans at a midnight screening in New York City on Thursday Photo: John Lamparski/ Getty Images “Awkward,” “creepy,” “disturbing.” Those were among the words “Harry Potter” fans used to describe the rather unexpected and altogether hallucinatory kiss between Harry and Hermione in “Deathly Hallows.” Streaming out of a midnight screening with lightning-bolt scars drawn on their foreheads and clutching wands, “Potter”-ites were still reeling from that onscreen smooch. “They’re totally topless and it’s really creepy,” Emma Larson told MTV News. That sentiment is not far from how Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger, was feeling when she found out exactly what was in store for her scripted kiss. “It was only the day before that they said, ‘Oh, by the way, we hope it’s all right, but we want you to be topless , and we’re going to cover you in silver paint,’ ” the actress told us earlier this week. “It was awkward enough as it was without the silver paint and the strapless bra, but whatever. It works.” Others also agreed that it works. Itamar Lilienthal certainly did, calling the lip-locking “very erotic.” Admitted Dustin Atlas, “I was a little jealous.” Some, however, were not digging the twist, which had Harry and Hermione swapping spit as part of their friend’s jealous hallucination. “It was a little awkward,” Jane Howe said. “It was not a natural kiss, and they were naked, which added a whole other aspect to it.” “It actually made me more uncomfortable,” Chris McMahon said. Many fans were simply unprepared to see Hermione showing affection to anyone other than Ron. But for some, the kiss was a chance to see, at long last, Harry and Hermione together, at least for a few seconds. “That was pretty intense,” said Hillary Brens. “I think a lot of fans wanting that relationship to happen — they finally got it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . The Mad Science of Fringe: A Study in Excessive Facial Expressions

After last week’s surprisingly boring mythology-development episode of Fringe, “The Abducted” at least tried to liven things up with some sad alt-Broyles backstory. Too bad underneath all those revelatory, family-building moments, the episode made about a lick of sense. Read on for the breakdown!

Daniel Radcliffe Felt ‘Great Responsibility’ During ‘Deathly Hallows’

‘We’re not in school … so we automatically feel more adult,’ he tells MTV News of the three leads. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News Remember those long-ago days in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” when the young boy wizard first entered the hallowed halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? The time Harry and Ron became best buds on the train out of King’s Cross? How Harry and Hermione first clashed as Gryffindor housemates before eventually bonding? What a difference a decade makes. The first part of “Deathly Hallows,” based on J.K. Rowling’s seventh book in the series, finds the three friends far from the safety and supervision of Hogwarts, fitfully bidding goodbye to their adolescent lives and embracing adulthood. Portraying that tricky transition, Daniel Radcliffe told MTV News, is exactly what makes this film “very special,” setting it apart from previous installments.

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’: 10 Best Cast Quotes

From Daniel Radcliffe on being short to Rupert Grint talking about his ice cream truck, these are our favorite quotes from the ‘Harry Potter’ cast. By Eric Ditzian Emma Watson and Josh Horowitz Photo: MTV News We’re gonna miss these kids. Yes, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.” doesn’t come out for another day, and “Part 2” will be coming down the line next year. But we’re already starting to get nostalgic about those wizards and witches — folks we’ve come to know well over the past decade and who entertain us on and off the big screen. At least we’ve been able to spend a lot of time with Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and their pals over the last year as they finished off the “Deathly Hallows” shoot and embarked on an international media tour. They’ve joked and laughed with us. They’ve opened up about the prospects of leaving behind a franchise that has been all-consuming for the last 10 years. They’ve even practiced their American accents with us. Of all our chats with the actors, though, a few lines were especially memorable. Check out our 10 favorite quotes from the “Deathly Hallows” cast. 10. “They came up and said, ‘How are you feeling? How are you doing?’ And I couldn’t find any words, and I just said, ‘I just want you to know, I’ve had a really nice time.’ And it was such a young, quite innocent, sweet thing to say, that I kind of caught myself off-guard. That was the moment when I suddenly had a lump in my throat and was like, ‘OK, I’m really going to have to struggle to keep it together on the last shot,’ which was a stunt, very simple, just jumping and rolling onto a map.” — Daniel Radcliffe on his final day of shooting on the franchise 9. “I like my teeth. I had fake teeth. It’s a beauty tip: Use fake teeth. The [teeth] plumped up my upper lip, which makes you look younger. It’s like having collagen without having collagen because it makes the lip fuller. Always get false teeth.” — Helena Bonham Carter on her character’s makeup effects 8. “I drove it down on the last day and served ice cream to everyone. I haven’t quite perfected the technique. It kind of came out in a jet.” — Rupert Grint on the ice cream truck he rented to serve the cast and crew on the final day of production 7. “For nearly two months, we’ve all been doing prosthetic tests and all sorts of preparation for the epilogue. I’ve been having some aging training. You’ve got to walk differently. There’s a slump in your walk. … It’s bizarre. We have a lovely guy who comes in. It was a little weird the first time — imagine you’ve got weights on your arms! There have been a number of times where I nearly laughed and I had to hold it in.” — Tom Felton on preparing for the “Deathly Hallows” epilogue scene 6. “I was worried on a personal level because I wanted to be slightly taller than I am, ideally. But I’ve now accepted it. Basically, I came to the conclusion a while ago that you can either be really bitter about it or you can make loads of funny jokes.” — Daniel Radcliffe on accepting the fact that he’s short 5. “You have to embrace the totality of his evilness. He’s like the devil.” — Ralph Fiennes on playing Voldemort 4. “Basically, it amounted to the fact that she felt I had been very good in this ‘Harry Potter’ film, and as a reward for that, she wasn’t going to make any more ‘Harry Potter’ [books].” — Daniel Radcliffe on a text message he received from J.K. Rowling 3. “I would have been public enemy #1, I think, if I hadn’t continued. I did think about that.” — Emma Watson on once considering quitting the franchise 2. “You know why I retweeted it, because you know that’s the only list you’ll ever see where I’m ahead of Robert Pattinson for something to do with sexiness, which is completely untrue and unfathomable, but I will take it in great stead.” — Tom Felton on winning Hollywood Crush’s Top 10 “Harry Potter” Hotties competition 1. “I don’t know, take it off?” — Emma Watson on how she can convince 100 percent of fans to approve of her red carpet dress Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Daniel Radcliffe Was Elated For ‘Time Off’ After ‘Deathly Hallows’

‘One side of us was very sad to finish it all but on the other hand we had been filming for a long time,’ ‘Harry Potter’ star admits to MTV News. By Kara Warner Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News There have been lots of stories about the sadness and tears shed in the final days of filming on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” and “Part 2.” But castmembers also felt a bit of relief at having capped off a decade of “Potter” with an intense shoot on the final two films. “Whenever people say, ‘Oh, you must have been really sad on that last day,’ I think, ‘Well yeah. We were all knackered,’ ” Daniel Radcliffe recently told MTV News . “We were also quite happy to have some time off.” (In fact, Radcliffe had little if any time off as he had to fly straight to New York to present at the Tony Awards with Katie Holmes after shooting wrapped.)

Emma Watson Says Style-Icon Label ‘Makes Me Nervous’

‘Deathly Hallows’ star tells MTV News she’s flattered but ‘suddenly aware that every outfit I wear is being analyzed.’ By Kara Warner Emma Watson Photo: MTV News When audiences first laid eyes on 11-year-old Emma Watson in 2001’s “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” it’s doubtful many predicted the young star would become one of the most successful and highly paid actresses of her generation. Not only that, but the British ingenue has also become a budding style icon, nabbing ad campaigns for Burberry and getting involved with the fair-trade fashion brand People Tree. When MTV News caught up with the 20-year-old, we asked how she felt about the “fashion icon” label and whether having her face plastered all over magazines and blogs creates added pressure when she’s deciding what to wear. “I keep hearing that fashion icon thing and it makes me nervous, please don’t say that,” Watson pleaded. “It’s obviously a huge compliment but I’m suddenly aware that every outfit I wear is being analyzed.” Apart from her fancy red-carpet ensembles, Watson said she often dresses down. “I do when I’m at college. I don’t put in half as much effort as I probably should,” Watson said of her casual Brown University wardrobe. “I get very lazy. But I still try to have fun with it and try not to pay too much attention and kind of enjoy it,” she said. Speaking of having fun, Watson threw us for a loop at the U.S. premiere of “Deathly Hallows – Part 1” on Monday, when we told her that her Calvin Klein dress had gotten a 90 percent approval rating from our viewers. “Awww, really? Wow, that’s such a high percentage!” she exclaimed. “Wow, I aced it, obviously. That’s great.” Asked what might she do to get the full 100 percent rating, Watson had a surprising suggestion. “I don’t know, take it off?” she quipped.
