British Woman Had Her Tongue Pierced, Died Two Days After

gizmodiva A 34-year old British woman Amanda Taylor died from blood poisoning just two days after her tounge pierced.She got her piercing as a birthday gift for herself. Two days after the piercing, Taylor noticed the swelling of her tongue and she immediately sought for medical help.  She was prescribed antibiotic by her doctor but was found dead by her mother just hours later. “Her friend was having it done too so I said to Amanda: ´You´re going to be 34. I´ll give you my blessing, but I´m still not 100 percent happy.´ .. If I´d said no she wouldn´t have done it. I wish I said no that day instead of yes,” said her mother. Dancing With The Stars: Nicole Scherzinger Rocks The Show

Only eight couples are left on Dancing with the Stars. On Monday night, the couples were ready for their close-ups. The duos performed variety of dances to songs from films. Derek Hough and Nicole Scherzinger’s Pretty Woman tango inspired has rock the show and received a standing ovation and positive feedbacks from the judges. The couple earned 29 points out of 30. Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya fall to second place this week. They danced a sophisticated and elegant rumba to the Aerosmith power ballad which was the soundtrack of the movie Armageddon. They garnered 27 points. Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower’s Risky Business themed cha-cha has pleased the audience. They earned 23 points. Sportscaster Erin Andrews and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy performed the Pulp Fiction-inspired jive. They got 22 points. Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood took on characters for their routine. The Bombshell portrayed Dolly Parton. The couple received 21 points. Niecy Nash and Louis van Amstel jive to the theme of La Bamba. They received 18 points. Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke were in tiger-print costumes. The danced a quickstep to The Jungle Book’s “The Bare Necessities”. They earned 18 points. Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani landed at the bottom again with just 15 points. The Breakfast Club theme has fall flat for the judges. Guru of Gang Starr Dies of Cancer at Age 43: Guru Death

As per media, the legendary member of iconic hip hop group Gang Starr with DJ Premier dies after a health battle surrounded by chaotic publicity and rumors. Guru of Gang Starr fame has died of cancer at age 43. Rumors around many websites that are reporting about Guru Death, many citing cancer and pointing to a final note left to fans. Guru whose given name is Keith Elam, passed away yesterday (April 19) after a year-and-a-half long battle. Boxing: Valero Committed Suicide

The venezuelan world lightweight boxing champion Edwin Valero committed suicide in his prison after being arrested for the murder of his wife. The 28-year-old boxer had confessed that he stabbed his wife Jennifer Carolina Viera de Valero inside a hotel in the city of Valencia on Sunday before he took his own life. It was confirmed by the police officials. Valero’s body was found in his cell hanged using his own clothes and although he showed some vital signs, he soon died, it was stated by the chief police Wilmer Flores Trosel at a state television. The World Boxing Council said that Valero is the only fighter in 30 years of the sport who can be proud of a hundred percent knock out rate from all of his 27 fights. He had gone recently into alcohol rehabilitation and he was detained in March for abusing his wife. Facebook “like” Button Getting Prevalent

The Facebook “like” button is getting prevalent on the Web. The Financial Times and the New York Times reported that the social networking giant with more than 400 million users worldwide will push through its “like” button features onto the Web sites, thus, enabling users to share preferences for news stories, Web sites and products more conveniently. On the recent update, Facebook users click the “like” button on Facebook.com to inform their online friends that they are interested in the statuses they update, videos upload, photos, events, invitations or other Facebook items. This change would put that functionality and convenience on many other Web sites by linking a person’s preferences for all kinds of things into Facebook social network. Another similar branch-out feature called Facebook Connect, which allows people to sign into other Web sites by using their Facebook account. The announcement is expected to come at Facebook’s annual developer conference, called f8, which will be held in San Franscisco on Wednesday. Mexico’s Debate Over 10-year-old’s Pregnancy

In Mexico, a 10-year-old pregnant, allegedly raped by her stepfather, has become a bigger issue in the country’s heated abortion debate. The girl’s stepfather has been arrested but there are advocates between the issue say that their war is just starting. Adriana Ortiz-Ortega, a researcher at Mexico’s National Autonomous University says “This girl is much more than an isolated case.” she also added that there is much more influence now from conservative groups that are trying to prevent the legalization of abortion.” In the capital city of Mexico, abortion is legal. But it is prohibited in most of the country’s states. The girl’s home state of Quintana Roo, on the Yucatan peninsula, only allows abortion in cases of rape during the first 980 days of pregnancy. The issues in that the 10-year-old girl is at 17½ weeks, nearly a month away from that limit. There are advocacies that are calling the attention fro federal officials and the United Nations to investigate Quintana Roo’s handling of the cases, acclaiming that the officials did not inform her of her abortion rights. A Surgeon Accidentally Cut Off Patient’s Testicle

Dr. Sulieman Al Hourani was supposed to cut out a cyst but instead, he had accidentally removed the whole right testicle of a patient. Dr. Al Hourani was just a locum surgeon at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, Greater Manchester, during the time of the surgery in September 2007. The surgeon is accused of misconduct over the error he committed and faces further charges of injecting himself with a drug which is supposedly meant for a patient and also stealing medications. According to Sarah Prichard, counsel for the GMC opening the hearing, said that a man, only known as patient A, had gone into the hospital for an operation where a cyst has to be removed on September 05, 2007. Patient A was the first patient of the day and in his medical notes, it was perfectly clear that the procedure was to be “excision of right cyst.” In addition, Ms. Prichard said that the theatre staff will reveal to the panel their impression of what happened during the surgery. Dr. Al Hourani had mistakenly removed the testicle rather than the cyst. During the operation, staff had no discussion raised by Dr. Al Hourani in the procedure as to why he was changing from excision of a cyst to removal of a testicle. Ms. Prichard stated that the mistake was committed when one nurse who was helping the surgeon turned her back to get a transfixion stitch and when she turned around the testicle was removed.
