However, today, TMZ is reporting something we can actually celebrate them for… The NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays and the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning have all come together to help fund the removal of a confederate monument that stands before the city’s courthouse. Recently, there was a vote held to remove that racist statue, but only if private donors paid for it, not the city. The cost of removal was estimated at $150,000. The pro squads released a joint statement of unity in the wake of the violence that took place in Charlottesville: “Recognizing that this monument does not reflect the values of our community, in collaboration with the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, our organizations have dedicated funds to assist in moving the statue from the public space in front of the courthouse.” “Now more than ever before, we must stand united and committed to diversity and inclusion as we all attempt to heal from the tragedy in Charlottesville.” Good on them. Way to do something good for once in your lives, Florida!

In random ridiculousness news… Man Arrested For Assaulting Mom With Pork Chop An Athens, Georgia man is making national headlines for his bizarre behavior. According to OnlineAthens Tery Bernard Ball Jr. became so upset that his 60-year-old mother didn’t get him cigarettes that he threw a pork chop at her before assaulting her further. Police were called to his home Monday after his mom called the police to report that her son not only assaulted her with swine, but pushed her and head-butted her. Luckily for the mom, Ball’s father was on hand to de-escalate the situation and he jumped on his son and held him down on the kitchen floor until the police arrived, according to OnlineAthens. This is far from crusty Terry’s first run-in with the law, he’s currently on 12 months on probation and has more than a dozen State and Superior Court cases dating to 2008.
