A Lil Positivity: J. Cole’s Dreamville Nonprofit Just Launched A Hurricane Florence Relief Fund

Photo by Tabatha Fireman/Getty Images J. Cole Starts Hurricane Relief Fund Following record-breaking rainfall, flooding rivers, and mass power outages wrought by Hurricane Florence–which made landfall in North Carolina last Friday, September 14– J. Cole  has just launched a storm relief fund through his nonprofit, Dreamville Foundation. The foundation is currently soliciting donations on its website and is set to target its relief efforts in Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville, N.C. Mandatory evacuations have impacted thousands of households, who were ordered along the Cape Fear River, which runs through the city and remains in major flood status, according to the National Weather Service. The  Fayetteville Observer  has reported that three deaths in the city’s surrounding Cumberland County may be attributed to Florence. “The Dreamville Foundation is looking to lend a helping hand to the community, children, and families affected by Hurricane Florence,” reads the announcement from the fund. “There will be hot food stations placed throughout the city, temporary housing options for families, and stocking of food pantries/shelters, as well as supporting other local non profits who help provide services for the people in Fayetteville.” The rapper is currently traveling through North America on his K.O.D. Tour. His first ever Dreamville Festival was scheduled to take place in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina earlier this month, but was cancelled due to safety concerns related to the storm. Before the event was forced to be cancelled, a portion of proceeds from the festival were intended to benefit Cole’s nonprofit. Those who want to contribute to the cause can donate to J. Cole’s Hurricane Florence relief fund on the Dreamville Foundation website, here .

Big Boi Talks Wearing Tank Tops To Show Off His Tattoos With GQ [Video]

Big Boi Takes Us On A Tattoo Tour With GQ Big Boi is a legend not only in Atlanta or in hip hop, but in the world of music as a whole. He’s had his share of classics both with Andre 3000 and their collective Outkast, and  throughout his own successful career thereafter. It’s impossible to deny the rapper’s impression on our world of music, but he’s got more than just beats going on–the ATLien also has a dope collection of tattoos ready to show off. Sir Lucious L. Leftfoot sat down with the good people over at GQ to take us all on a tour of his most impressive, most important tattoos. The legendary rapper, actor, and producer starts off by talking about the two places he never wants tattoos: his back and his “Johnson,” the first because you would never be able to see it, the latter because it would hurt like hell. The first tat he talks about is his name “Twan” with a heart around it, because it’s the “name [his] mama gave him. The second tattoo he got was a lion on his forearm, saying that when he started rapping everything was always about “king s**t.” Big Boi then talks about some of his lines on Goodie Mob’s “Git Up, Git Out,” because it’s pretty perfect for this exact occasion. He raps, “I wore with tank tops to show off my tattoo, thought I was cool” which channels the affinity he had for his tattoos when he first got them, thinking they were the most cool accessories in the world. He also says that’s why he got the lion tattoo lower on his arm, so everybody could see it. The next tattoo he mentions is important to him and his Southern heritage, which drove him to get “DIRTY SOUTH” embossed across both of his arms. It’s clear that Big gets the most important things tattooed on his body, and this is most definitely one of them. Check out the entire episode below:

SMH: Shots Fired In The Parking Lot Of Nipsey Hussle’s Crenshaw Clothing Store

Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for BET Shots Fire Outside Of Nipsey Hussle’s Clothing Store Nipsey Hussle is reportedly in New York City to attend the Diamond Ball. But while the rapper is on the East Coast, a serious situation went down at his Crenshaw clothing establishment. A fight reportedly almost turned deadly as shots were fired in the parking lot of Hussle’s The Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles, California on Friday (September 14). Witnesses tell  TMZ  that a huge fight broke out in the parking lot of the store. During the alleged brawl, one of the people involved pulled out a gun and fired a couple shots into the air in an attempt to stop the melee. Those involved then proceeded to disperse from the scene before police finally arrived. Authorities showed up a short time later and discovered blood in the parking lot. According to the report, they questioned employees inside the store who did not offer any information that would assist in solving the crime. Police are hoping to review security footage in an effort to pinpoint a suspect. The rapper’s clothing store is only one of his attempts at making sure to bring business to his beloved hometown. Back in February, he partnered with Vector90 and the District 8 Los Angeles City Council to launch a coworking space in South Los Angeles. Only a month later, he was part of an investment team that put in a bid to purchase a historic Los Angeles hotel. As of now, no one has been arrested in the shooting at The Marathon Clothing.

Does Hov Know?! Twitter Imploded Over Kanye Announcing ‘Watch The Throne 2’ Is “Coming Soon”

Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images For Roc Nation Is A Watch The Throne Sequel Seriously In The Works? Kanye West is slowly making his way back into the hearts of some people that had hopped off the Ye train over his recent outbursts. While he’s on a mission to repair his relationship with Drake before the week’s end, everything about Kanye’s relationship with Jay Z is still pretty much up in the air–at least as far as the public is concerned. On Saturday, Kanye tweeted that a follow-up to Watch The Throne –his 2011 collaboration album with Jay Z–is “coming soon,” and the reactions were all over the place. Some people were excited, a lot of people were confused, and most were just wondering if Hov knows about this project at all. Could the former brotherly pair be back in one another’s good graces? Would Kanye dare make a Throne 2 with someone other than Jay? Check out some of the best replies below that sum up how the internet is feeling about the possibility of Watch The Throne 2 .   Throne 2 will come right after Detox by Dre — Stephan (@slcrudu1906) September 9, 2018   pic.twitter.com/Zus67MTghi — TBD (@geish_) September 9, 2018 If “Throne2” is ten tracks of Jay Z frantically shaking Kanye in the studio yelling “what the fuck is wrong with you,” then I'd love to write a review about it — Trey Alston (@treyals) September 9, 2018 “throne2 coming soon” pic.twitter.com/9s9MAKS4ba — jaytranada (@_jaytrent) September 8, 2018

Rita Ora Face Tuned Tits of the Day

Yo’ Rita Ora’s face is the baddest TING…that’s hip hop urban speak that RITA Ora understands as she manipulates the black people in the music industry with some UK Caribbean twang…to help convince them that she’s the next Rihanna…something she’s been aspiring to be for a long time…since Rihanna basically found her, got her signed to her label and realized bitch was stepping on some toes… Baddest ting, when said by white people, which happens is hilarious to me…but it usually means the girl is hot…and that dude spends too much time listening to rap music targeted to white people to realize it’s not right to speak like that…no matter how many black friends they may have at the barber shop they go do… When I reference Rita Ora’s face being the baddest ting, I mean it’s just bad…because I guess she’s found facetune and fucking violated the shit like she was filming her first sex tape all those years ago when she was first starting out. She does have great tits though, and no one can take that away from her…except cancer. JOIN THE NEWSLETTER YOU ASSHOLES! Choreographer ‘Hollywood’ Talks Working With Diddy, Artistry & His Thoughts On Dance Challenges

The rest is here:

Source: Queen Yan / Hollywood Hollywood is making calculated steps. The 31-year-old choreographer has already built a career for himself, arranging moves for artists like Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj . But in the world of social media and dance challenges, he still works to stay focused on his craft in a way that’s authentic to him.   Growing up in uptown New York, Dyckman to be specific, Hollywood started dancing at the age of seven with hip hop as his main focus. He eventually got his big break around the age of 21 when he choreographed Lil Mama ‘s “G-Slide (Tour Bus)” music video . Ever since then, the gigs have been rolling in, but not without a few surprises and obstacles. Peep our quick chat below, where Hollywood explains how a personal tragedy and a Black excellence pioneer helped him become the dancer he is today. 1. You’ve worked with a lot of major music artists. What were some of the ways you were able to get these gigs? By promoting my work and creating visuals for artists with my specific vision. I also came up with social media around the same time everybody else was coming up with it. Some of my routines went viral and they got into the right hands, which is how I got the Diddy job, the Nicki Minaj and how I got Beyoncé. 2. Was there a particular quirk or something that surprised you when working with an artist? When I worked with Diddy, it wasn’t that I was surprised, but it was more of a confirmation of how hard this man really works and how there’s not a “no.” If you want something done, it’s going to be done, but it’s because it requires greatness from everybody that is around. If you’re not putting out great things, people don’t think they’re great. And if you’re putting out okay things, then people are going to attach that okay-ness to your brand. So it’s just about being very good at what you do, and working hard and being the best.   3. What would you say are the pros and cons of social media as a dancer, especially in light of recent dance challenges /crazes? The pros are how quick you can be discovered , how the masses can see your work, and how you can influence and become a huge brand with endorsements. The cons are how everyone wants everything quick and the over-saturation. Quantity does not necessarily mean quality, so a lot of people are just putting work out just to put work out and not a lot of us are really getting that quality. As for the dance challenges, I think they are very inclusive to people that aren’t dancers and so it’s a good thing. On the other side, sometimes a lot of the inclusion separates the seriousness from people taking dance as an art and not just as a gimmick. So it’s like a balance. It’s good and bad sometimes. 4. Were there any obstacles in your personal life that heavily influenced your dancing? The passing of my mother made me realize how short life is and how truly dance is my all. It has saved me from a lot of things and has refocused my mind to express myself and emotions through my passion.

Still In The Studio: Cardi B Announces New Project For The Fall, Music Video For “Ring” Featuring Kehlani

Paras Griffin/Getty Images Cardi B Announces Upcoming Projects For Fans On IG Live Fresh off the news of Cardi B cancelling her scheduled appearances on Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic Tour to stay home with baby Kulture, Belcalis is making even more promises to her fans. The rapper and new mommy hopped on Instagram live to update fans on her life, also assuring everyone that her tour cancellation didn’t mean she wouldn’t be working all together. Cardi revealed that she has a project coming out in the fall, though she didn’t provide any other details. She also announced that her music video for “Ring” featuring Kehlani will be out at the beginning of August. This is all great news for fans, if, of course, everything actually goes as plans. Cardi B and her label Atlantic Records have been known to have some differences in the past regarding release dates–if you’ll recall, her debut album Invasion of Privacy was released several months after she initially promised. The same goes for some of her previous singles. The news that is concrete, though, is the fact that Cardi is still working despite cancelling her tour appearances–so we can expect at least some music sometime soon, if not a full project. Take a look at Bardi’s IG live below, where she talks to her fans about upcoming projects and plans for the future.
