February marks the start of Black History Month. In recognition of this occasion, Donald Trump offered a take on a few famous African-Americans this morning, from Rosa Parks to Martin Luther King Jr. to Frederick Douglass. And this is what he said about Douglass, a former slave who became an abolitionist… a diplomat… an author… a statesman… and early adopter of fight for women’s suffrage. And who died in 1895. “Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who has done an amazing job that is being recognized more and more, I noticed.” It's unclear just where Trump noticed this. Although it's very clear that Trump has no idea who Frederick Douglass is. Asked to clarify his boss's comments about the African-American icon, Sean Spicer took to the White House podium this afternoon… and made things worse. “Well, I think there’s contribution,” Spicer stammered when asked about Douglass. “I think [Trump] wants to highlight the contributions that he has made, and I think through a lot of the actions and statements that he’s gonna make, the contributions of Frederick Douglass will become more and more.” Makes perfect sense, right? Mischa Barton has confirmed that she voluntarily sought professional help after some frightening events at her West Hollywood apartment. We reported just yesterday that The O.C. alum was taken to hospital for a mental evaluation after some erratic behavior. Now, the star has released a statement to People, claiming that someone spiked her drink with GHB on her birthday, “On the evening of the 25th, I went out with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. While having drinks, I realized that something was not right as my behavior was becoming erratic and continued to intensify over the next several hours,” Barton said in the statement. “I voluntarily went to get professional help, and I was informed by their staff that I had been given GHB. After an overnight stay, I am home and doing well,” the statement continued. “I would like to extend a big thanks of gratitude to the professionals at Cedars-Sinai for their great care and professionalism. This is a lesson to all young women out there, be aware of your surroundings.” The behavior was certainly scary. Apparently, she was saying something about her mother being a witch and even went as far as falling backward off her fence and shouting. “Oh my God, it’s over! I feel it, and it’s angry!” Considering other people who attended the party were saying the star seemed fine and was having a great time at first, it would make sense that the change in mood could stem from her drink being spiked. These things do happen a lot, but Mischa does have a point when she states that people need to keep an eye on their surroundings. The latest news of Mischa attending Cedars-Sinai Medical Center certainly made it seem like the star was suffering from another breakdown. Hey, did you want to roll your eyes so hard they pop out of your head, rendering you incapable of ever seeing Donald Trump and his croonies and their awful, scary faces every again? If so, then our brand new first lady has you covered. Melania Trump has been a bit of a wild card lately: is she just as terrible as her terrible husband ? Or do we need to free Melania, as the Twitter hashtag insists? It’s hard to say. But you know what’s not hard to say? Melania’s latest move is just plain absurd. Somehow, someway, this woman found herself on the cover of the February issue of Vanity Fair. But not just any Vanity Fair — Vanity Fair Mexico. This is her cover, and just in case you were confused, yes, she is eating a bowl of diamonds with a fork and spoon. It doesn’t make sense at all, but what makes even less sense is why she’s on the cover in the first place. Did the magazine somehow miss Trump’s feelings about Mexico ? Because he’s made them pretty clear. Coincidentally, this cover has been released just a couple of days after Trump signed an executive order pertaining to the construction of that infernal wall all along the Mexican border. And if all that wasn’t ridiculous enough, if you take a peek at that cover, they’re actually calling her “the new Jackie Kennedy.” As if . It should come as a surprise to absolutely one that a lot of people are upset about this cover which, as many people are pointing out on social media, came out at an awkward time. As one Twitter user phrased it, “The wife of a man that calls Mexicans ‘rapists’ is on the cover of Vanity Fair Mexico.” Another wrote “We demand Vanity Fair Mexico not to distribute their magazine with Melania Trump on the cover; it’s a mockery and humiliation for Mexico.” Others suggested that Melania appearing in this magazine — seriously, it’s entirely too bizarre — might be a “cry for help.” Whatever the reason may be behind this decision, it was clearly a terrible one for all involved. According to the version of events that has people all pissed off, Bella was dating Tyler Posey , and the Teen Wolf actor was under the impression that things were getting serious. Little did he know, she was hooking up with Puth, and not really making much of an effort to keep it on the down-low. The situation blew up in Bella’s face when Puth called her out for cheating and publicly ended their affair on Twitter. The #BellaThorneIsOverParty hashtag quickly started trending, and Bella has getting roasted on social media ever since. Nudity is a good way to earn forgiveness, and the Internet usually has a short memory when it comes to celebrity misconduct, but folks just aren’t letting Bella off the hook. Selena Gomez would like you to stop focusing on her personal life for a moment. Yes, she's dating The Weeknd . And, yes, she's sort of taunting Justin Bieber . But Selena is also producing a new show coming to Netflix, and she just dropped the trailer for it. With Pretty Little Liars wrapping up its beloved run this spring, Gomez is hoping that 13 Reasons Why is coming along at the perfect time for those seeking a melodrama centered around teens and mysterious messages. Based on a 2007 novel by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why chronicles the story of a young woman played by Katherine Langford. She commits suicide, but not before leaving behind 13 cassette tapes for those she blames for her depression and this subsequent decision. “A peek at a passion project I’ve been working on with @Netflix. @13ReasonsWhy arrives 3/31,” Gomez captioned the trailer on Instagram yesterday. The 13 Reasons Why teaser introduces a handful of the show’s cast, which includes familiar names and faces such as Miles Heizer (Parenthood), Kate Walsh (Private Practice) and Brian d’Arcy James (Smash). It opens with Langford’s Hannah saying: “I’m about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended.” We're intrigued! We're in! Check out the preview now:
If you watch Teen Mom 2 online you know that its different from other reality shows, in that the behinds-the-scenes crew regularly gets involved in the drama. With the exception of Teen Mom: OG, we don’t know of another reality series in which producers double as characters and regularly interact with the cast on camera. Obviously, this can lead to problems, in the form of both conflict (such as when Farrah Abraham assaulted a producer last year) and accusations of inappropriate friendliness… It’s been over a year since Kailyn Lowry first separated from Javi Marroquin , so it’s not surprising that the 24-year-old is mother of two is ready to move on with a new love interest. And with the amount of time that Kailyn puts into filming, it stands to reason that she would hit it off with one of her on-set co-workers. And since she seems to have a particularly close relationship with one member of the TM2 crew, we suppose it was only a matter of time before fans began to spread the rumor that their relationship is more than just professional. J.C. Cueva is new to the TM2 game, but he and Kailyn reportedly hit it off from their first day of filming together. “I think I have a really good relationship with Kail,” Cueva said in aninterview last month. “I was a new person coming in; her previous field producer had been with her for years and years. I had big shoes to fill, but I think I did a good job. I joke around with her a lot.” He added: “She likes me as a person, but she hates that I have to be a producer sometimes. We get along really great, and I think she respects me.” It’s not hard to see how fans got the impression that there’s something extracurricular going on between Kailyn and J.C. But Kailyn maintains that she and J.C. are friendly co-workers, and nothing more. Another day, another instance of Jeremy Calvert biting the hand that feeds him. Yep, don’t look now, but Jeremy Calvert is real upset and hurt and angry that MTV edited hours upon hours of footage into a 40 minute show people would want to watch. At this point, Jeremy is turning his Instagram rant sessions into a weekly affair, updating his followers with each and every grievance he has with the show as soon as the new episode airs. “I don’t give a damn,” he’s said about his anti-Teen Mom agenda . “I’m going to do it every Monday.” But he wanted to make sure everyone knew that “I’m not just trying to create drama. If they show something positive on an episode, I’ll say it was positive.” Still, “If there’s something that they air that makes me look like an a–hole, I’ll say that. I’m not going to hide behind a cell phone to protect my ass.” It’s obvious that Jeremy feels very strongly about how he’s being portrayed on the show, which is fair. “I’m not trying to [have people] look past anything I do wrong,” he insisted, “I just want to put the real story out there.” The issue, according to him, is that “When you’re married to [one of the Teen Moms], they make you look good. As soon as you get divorced, MTV makes you look like an a–hole.” And boy, on this week’s episode of Teen Mom 2 , he looked like the biggest a–hole. On the show, Leah told Jeremy that she planned on taking her daughters, including the one she shares with Jeremy, on a vacation to Mexico. Then Jeremy spoke with Corey Simms, Leah’s first ex-husband and the father of her twins, and had some words with him about the trip, which he seemed to be totally unaware of. “Leah is planning on taking the kids to Mexico,” Jeremy told him. “Not New Mexico, motherf-cking Mexico.” He added, “I ain’t really too thrilled about that. I just don’t like Mexico.” So that sounds pretty racist, right? Jeremy straight up said that he dislikes an entire country, and there’s not many possible explanations for why that is. You know, besides racism. And so the Mexico issue is the subject of Jeremy’s latest Instagram rant , which he’s since deleted. His first piece of evidence in his favor is that the timeline is all screwed up, because Corey already knew about the trip. “As already informed a week and a half prior to us filming that scene that he was aware of the whole Mexico trip,” he revealed. “Clearly when I called on camera he was completely caught off guard by the Mexico trip. You can figure that out!” We actually can’t figure that out, these words seem kind of jumbled and placed together in a way that almost makes sense, but not quite. Jeremy Calvert Goes OFF on Teen Mom 2 Editors But we’re pretty sure he’s saying that something’s not right, and he used that to jump to his next point. “MTV did not show the part of the rest of the conversation in regards to the Mexico trip and the reason why I don’t want my child to go there,” he said. “I’m not racist. MTV does some good editing.” So this would be a perfect time to explain why he didn’t want his daughter to go to Mexico, right? He could just clear things right up. But, according to Jeremy, he doesn’t owe anyone any explanations when it comes to how he chooses to raise his daughter. … Except wasn’t this whole pitiful rant an explanation? He couldn’t go for a few extra seconds to explain his “I just don’t like Mexico” statement? Sounds good, bud. See you next week.
