13 Reality TV Hoaxes You Totally Fell For

Admit it: you've been had at some point in the past, haven't you? You thought what you were watching on reality television was 100% real, only to later learn the devastating truth. We've all been there. And now we can all be here: relive the most shocking reality TV show hoaxes in history below… 1. Dance Moms We’ll just let Maddie Ziegler, arguably the show’s top performer, lay it right out for you, courtesy of an interview with USA Today: “The producers set it up to make us all yell at each other. You know how I said that moms do fight? The moms have a fake fight sometimes. Afterward they just start talking and laugh about it.” Host Abby Lee Miller really does suck, however. that’s not fake. 2. House Hunters Bobi Jensen blogged in 2012, on a site titled “Hooked on Houses,” that her experience on House Hunter was totally contrived. Turns out, the couple had selected its home prior to appearing on the show and producers even changed Jensen’s story over why she was moving. 3. Breaking Amish Can we change the title of this TLC series to “Having Already Broken Amish?” After the very first episode aired, it came out that most participants had already left their Amish family for the bright lights of the big city. 4. Storage Wars Dave Hester, a prominent presence on A&E’s Storage Wars, left production and sued the network over the phony aspects of the show. He said producers loaded units up with items to give each episode an artificial angle and that they even funneled money to teams to keep each episode’s bidding competitive. 5. Ghost Adventures Ghost Adventures star Aaron Goodwin was fired in 2014 after he stopped by the podcast Are We Alone and explained how the network staged reactions, sound effects and other aspects of the program. He said it was “sickening” that he was part of such a “fraud.” 6. The Hills Lauren Conrad, Brody Jenner and other cast members have come out and said pretty much everything you saw on this MTV reality show as scripted. Shocking, we know! View Slideshow

Woman Tries to Pet Tiger at Zoo, Loses Part of Hand

Jacqueline Eide wanted to pet a tiger.  So the 33-year-old reach her left hand into the tiger’s cage at Henry Doorly Zoo.  And just as you suspect, the tiger ripped half of her hand off. After Eide was rushed to Creighton University Medical Center, police were made aware of the incident. Eide was behaving belligerently and showing signs of intoxication, so police were asked to assist. The result of the injury is so severe that she may lose part of her hand . But she has more to worry about than just her injury.  According to the Omaha Police Department, Eide has been cited for criminal trespass. “The safety and security of our guests and animals are always a priority at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium,” Dennis Pate, the zoo’s executive director and CEO, said. Pate continued, “Emergency phone numbers are printed on maps for guests to call in case of an emergency and security staff keep watch on grounds around the clock. We have added security cameras, new path lighting and computer-controlled locks to track exit and entry.” “Additional path lighting is planned for the new African Grasslands exhibit and more cameras will be installed to monitor the grounds and gates. We will continue to keep security a top priority for Zoo guests and animals.” Because of people like Eide, the zoo plans to include more cameras in the future. Orlando Bloom: Talks Justin Bieber Fight, Kendall Jenner Dating Rumors

Last year, Orlando Bloom went from decently well-liked B-list celeb to full-blown Internet idol when footage of the actor taking a swing at Justin Bieber leaked online.  Now, Bloom is finally opening up about the incident and confirming what the footage seemed to show: he never actually made contact with the Biebs. “I wanted the opportunity to clear this up, I actually did not ‘connect’ with Justin Bieber,” Bloom said while accepting the Britannia Humanitarian Award in LA over the weekend. It was an odd time to open up about the fight, as Orlando refused to talk about it in the past, even after Bieber claimed to have slept with Miranda Kerr while she was still married to Bloom. Bloom also took the opportunity to acknowledge rumors that he’s dating Kendall Jenner , saying: “And I don’t know Kendall Jenner, but if anyone has her number I would love it.” Again, something of an odd comment at a ceremony honoring Bloom for his humanitarian work with UNICEF, but we’re sure Orly was just joshing. At least we hope so. Dude is literally twice Kendall’s age. Anyway, good for Orlando for being able to laugh at himself, but as he creeps up on middle age, we hope he won’t continue finding himself attempting to lay hands on teenagers – for any reason. Nicki Minaj Mocks Disabled Woman in Wheelchair, Pisses Off Fans

Nicki Minaj may not have had the year's best celebrity Halloween costume (that title goes to LeBron James as Prince ), but she's attracting plenty of attention for her fairy godmother get-up. Sadly, it's for all the wrong reasons. In a video clip that's going viral today, a visibly intoxicated Nicki points her “magic wand” at a woman in a wheelchair and roars, “I command you to walk.” Needless to say, a lot of folks didn't find the remark as funny as Nicki and her friends seemed to. Nicki has been running damage control today by tweeting at Perez Hilton (one of the first to post the footage) that the woman sitting in the wheelchair was actually a makeup artist friend of hers. “That's NOT a disabled person and u know that. Are u that desperate for attention?” Nicki tweeted. “Bitch, u knew. That's my friend in a scooter.” Some fans have countered that even if Nicki is telling the truth (a big “if,” as based on the video, it doesn't seem the woman was in on the joke), the clip is still offensive to people with physical disabilities. Before she even “casts her spell,” Nicki can be heard to remark, “Now, if only I could find Handi Man,” a reference to the disabled superhero character played by Damon Wayans on the '90s sketch show In Living Color. So regardless of whether the woman was someone that Nicki knew, Ms. Minaj was clearly having a laugh at the plight of people with disabilities, and she should probably be apologizing instead of justifying. Also, Nicki, instead of being the 4 millionth celeb to indulge Perez Hilton's trolling, maybe just take Taylor Swift's advice from last night and let it go.

Fred Thompson Dies; Law & Order Actor and Former Senator Was 73

Former US senator and prolific actor Fred Thompson has passed away at the age of 73. His family broke the news in a statement issued to several media outlets earlier today: “It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, father and grandfather who died peacefully Nashville surrounded by his family,” said the statement. “Fred was the same man on the floor of the Senate, the movie studio, or the town square of his home.” According to the statement, Thompson died following a recurrence of lymphoma. After beginning his career as an attorney, Thompson alternated between politics and acting for much of his adult life. Thompson served as a Republican senator for eight years. Once considered a rising star of the Senate, Thompson retired after his term expired in 2003, stating that he “didn’t have the heart” for another term. Thompson launched a campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, but dropped out after attracting little support in early primaries. As an actor, Thompson is perhaps best known for his role as District Attorney Arthur Branch on Law & Order and its spinoff series SVU, Trial By Jury and Criminal Intent. In addition to portraying Branch from 2002 to 2007, Thompson starred in dozens of feature films, including Cape Fear, In the Line of Fire and Die Hard 2. Heidi Klum Halloween Costume: What Did She Go as Now?

Heidi Klum has done it once again. The super model, who hosts a super Halloween party every year and who comes up with super creative costume ideas, left the jaws of every warm-blooded male hanging out on Saturday night. Because she dressed as Jessica Rabbit. The Project Runway host made a dramatic entrance into her own shindig over the weekend, emerging into a spotlight from the dark to reveal her incredible outfit, one complete with crazy prosthetic breasts… a giant butt … and amazing fake eyelids. Earlier in the week, Klum had teased that she would get into costume as the “ultimate male fantasy.” And transforming into the luscious cartoon vixen from  Who Framed Rodger Rabbit? certainly fits that description. The Trainwreck star accepted the Charlie Chaplin Brittania Award for Excellence in Comedy at the BAFTA Britannia Awards on Friday and made X-rated remarks about her dating life in the process. Asked if she’s seeing anyone, for example, Schumer replied as follows: “No. My vagina remains vacant.” She then said the entrance fee is “at least five dollars,” which is a pretty outstanding deal, really. Schumer has sort of made it her thing to say outlandish things while accepting trophies. At the Glamour UK Women of the Year ceremony this summer, she joked that she may weigh 160 pounds, but she can still ” catch a dick ” any time she wants. Then again, we doubt she was really joking. At the Peabody Awards in late May, meanwhile, Schumer made out with Tina Fey in stage. It was hot! In this case, Schumer went on to joke about the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, telling the audience: “Watching the movie inspired my boyfriend at the time to take a trip up my chocolate river.” This was followed by a long pause and then the quip: “You guys don’t have anal over the pond?” Man. But now Kim Kardashian is here to offer advice on how to come up with the most important Halloween costume of all… Kim Kardashian herself! In a blog post on her official website, Kim goes into detail on how to nail her “signature look,” in case anyone wants to trick or treat this year as a woman who let Ray J bang her on video . “My signature look has become so recognizable, that it could easily work as a last-minute Halloween costume!” Kardashian wrote, in what may be her most self-involved and pompous entry to date. Seriously, who doles out advice on how to dress like themselves ?!? Kim Kardashian, that’s who. And here’s what she had to say about it: “Mixing bodycon pieces with a long coat, strappy heels and dark sunglasses is the perfect combination for a cool Kim-inspired look!” But… wait! Just when you thought Kardashian couldn’t get more obnoxious about this, she went ahead and got all obnoxious about it. Kardashian went ahead provided website subscribers with a shopping guide, offering up suggestions that: Cost far more than the average person wants to pay. Come from her catalog of sponsorships. So, sure, you can follow Kim’s advice and go buy some Too Glam Sunglasses for $60 in order to look like her. But just know that Kardashian gets paid to make that recommendation. And also know that, we mean this as respectfully as possible, but: You would be a huge loser if you dressed, in any non-tongue-in-cheek fashion, as Kim Kardashian for Halloween.
