While somewhat new parents Kendra (Caldwell) Duggar and husband Joe were busy enjoying their first baby son Garrett , Kendra’s mom Christina Caldwell was having a difficult time with her own pregnancy. Her eighth pregnancy, mind you. In Monday night’s episode of Counting On , Kendra revealed to fans that her mother has always struggled with pregnancies ever since she was in a car accident that caused internal damage when she was pregnant with Kendra 19 years prior. The family began to notice the complications after Christina looked to be in serious pain walking to the beach on their family vacation, Kendra explained. “My mom is 28 weeks along, and she has always struggled with each pregnancy after having me because she was in a car accident when she was 36 weeks along with me.” “It caused a lot of damage, and so, every other pregnancy since then, she has had problems with having contractions prematurely,” she added. Christina and Kendra were pregnant together, which may definitely seem weird for a mom to be pregnant at the same time as her 20-year-old daughter, but Christina was reportedly born in 1980, making her just 39-years-old. A 39-year-old grandmother may also seem very strange. However, please remember who we are talking about here! Kendra and Joe came from a very similar background. Both have similar Baptist beliefs and came from an extremely large family, well not as big as Michelle and Jim Bob’s 19 children , but Kendra’s seven siblings would still shock most people within normal society. Christina opened up about the scary night where she had experienced four contractions in just 25 minutes, allowing Kendra to reflect on her own experience of giving birth for the first time . “It wasn’t that long ago I had him in my tummy,” she said of baby Garrett. “That was a hard couple days.” Her mom comforted her saying, “You did so good though.” “I know you were not sure if you could make it through it, but you did amazing.” Kendra responded, “You just never know your first time what it’s going to be like, so after getting past your first time, it’s like, ‘Ok, I know what it’s going to be the next time.'” She confided in her mother, explaining that she was definitely not in a rush to get pregnant again for a while, saying she needs a break to recover. But Kendra also added that being able to connect with her mom on this subject matter was priceless, according to Pop Culture. Clearly, being pregnant at the same time brought Kendra closer to her mother. “Since I’ve had Garrett, my mom and I have a lot more that we can just talk about now,” Kendra told the camera. “I love asking her questions… and other times, I’ll just tell her, ‘Wow I can’t believe you’ve done this seven times, and you’re about to do it an eighth time!'” “It gives me a greater appreciation for everything she’s done for me,” she concluded. Christina and her husband Paul successfully welcomed their eighth child, son Jesiah Mathew, back in January of 2018. She revealed to Instagram that the complications she was experiencing extended to a knot in Jesiah’s umbilical cord. “He was a miracle from the beginning due to health complications on my part, and then upon delivery the [doctor] told us it was a miracle he made it [with] the knot in his cord,” Christina shared at the time. “Praising the Lord!!” she added. Kendra’s new sibling and her own son will get to grow up together, which will be so sweet and so unusual all at the same time. Counting On airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
