Bachelor in Paradise Premiere: Blake Hooks Up! With Two Women!

Bachelor in Paradise did not save the drama for its mama on Monday night’s Season 6 premiere. Instead, it saved the drama almost entirely for Blake Horstmann, the runner-up on Becca Kufrin’s edition of The Bachelorette , and the two women with whom he hooked up last night. Before we delve into that drunken chaos, a quick refresher: This summer’s crop of horny contestants includes: Colton Underwood’s finalists Tayshia and Hannah G. A villain from Hannah Brown’s very recent season, Cam. Her former suitor John Paul Jones. Veteran franchise member Chris Bukowski. And other Paradise veterans such Bibiana, Wills, Annaliese and Derek, who’d gotten engaged on Bachelor in Paradise season 4. While they were hoping to start something brand new and exciting in Vallarta, Nayarit, one participant said she needed to figure out the feelings she had in an existing relationship. That would be Demi, also from Colton’s season, who revealed in a pre-beach talk with Hannah B. that she had “kind of been seeing someone.” “Plot twist, it happens to be a woman,” Demi said on air, adding: “It’s not something that I need to label, so I feel like I don’t have to proclaim that I am gay, I am straight, I am bisexual, I am this. I just like who I like. It doesn’t matter who or what you are, it’s the person.” Demi added that this woman was “amazing,” but that she is not in an exclusive relationship. So bring on the hook-ups, people! Men and women! Once she hit that warm and inviting sand, Demi found a connection with 32-year-old Derek — and they ended up kissing in the hot tub, which we’re pretty sure it mandated in the show’s by-laws. “I’m ready to find someone that’s ready to have a relationship, and I’m having fun exploring,” she explained in an on-camera interview. “I’ve had some fun with Derek tonight. He’s a sweet, sweet man and I feel good whenever I’m around him. Derek is a good kisser and I love it. “I do think that Derek’s sexy. I’m having a lot of fun but I’m definitely trying to take it one day at a time right now.” As for Blake? He was trying to take it one woman at a time… … and not always succeeding. “Blake and I talked for a few months and it was really great, but he played me and that sucked,” Caelynn, 23, told host Chris Harrison of her ex, adding: “It wasn’t fun. I really did struggle and he hurt me. So if he is here, I just want to clear it up and I’m hopeful that Blake will man up.” Horstmann immediately ran away once he saw Caelynn descend the stairs. “Blake sucks,” she continued, as many of the other female contestant expressed interest in going on a date with the handsome 30-year-old. “All of the girls are saying what a great guy he is, and I’m sitting there like, you guys don’t even know who this guy is. We were seeing each other, I was pretty sure it was exclusive. “He’s done some really horrible things to me. So now I’m not interested in him. He’s made it clear he’s not interested in me. I’m a mistake. He’s never apologized, and that’s hurtful.” Naturally, Blake received the first date card, promptly asking out Tayshia. As they went off for their evening together, Caelynn opened up to bartender and former Bachelorette contestant Wells. “I thought he was a great guy and then we really had something,” she told Wells of Blake. “We talked about skipping Paradise and coming out with us, and then he ghosted me. Just like fully stopped communication and now I’m here. F-cking first date. And then we saw each other at a music festival. “He ended up sweet-talking me and we spent the night together. And we wake up and I’m in his bed and he’s DMing Hannah G. I’m still in his bed, he’s talking about how hot Tayshia is. “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Like no dude, that’s not okay. And then he was like, ‘I just want to let you know I hooked up with Kristina [Schulman, from Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor] the night before.’” She went on to say that Blake told her the two of them had to keep their old romance a secret in Mexico. Watch Bachelor in Paradise Season 6 Episode 1 Online Wells encouraged Caelynn to spread the truth about Blake, so precisely that and let Onyeka from Colton’s season be the first to know about her bad experience with Paradise‘s most in-demand hottie. “We were like FaceTiming three times a day, texting every day,” Caelynn told Onyeka, explaining: “I really liked him. Like I was like, I actually see something with this guy. And everyone last night is like, he’s the king of Paradise. Everyone wants to date him. I was like, guys, he’s so good at twisting things. Very smooth… “He treats girls like scum.” Kristina then arrived… with a date card of her own. And she asked out Blake! “Me and Kristina were hanging out maybe like six or seven months ago,” Blake told the other men. “It started as a friendship and then it moved into something more. But whether it was the timing or whatnot, but we decided to stay friends and we have been. We’ve still like honestly, we talk. “We’re still there for each other for certain things. Honestly, we’ve been very open with each other. It ended very mutually.” Kristina didn’t see it the same way, however. “I know what happened with him and Caelynn. I honestly thought he would have a little more respect for me, so knowing that he spent the night with her kinda hurt my feelings,” she said. “That’s a slap in the face to me, and I will not let myself be f–ked over again. So today, I’m going to make Blake my bitch.” Cue an evil laugh… and the conclusion of the episode… and the start of yet another season of this franchise where the ladies are here to hold men accountable for bad behavior. We hope that’s the case, at least.

Toni Morrison Dies; Beloved Poet Laureate Was 88

Toni Morrison, the first African-American woman to win the Nobel Prize in literature, died last night in a New York hospital. She was 88 years old. Knopf spokesman Paul Bogaards confirmed the author’s death, but didn’t announce an immediate cause or provide any further details. Morrison was born on February 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio. She was the second oldest of four children born to George and Ramah Wofford, sharecroppers who had migrated north from Alabama. The couple raised their kids in an integrated, working-class neighborhood, an experience Morrison would later explain as follows to The New York Times: “When I was in first grade, nobody thought I was inferior. I was the only black in the class and the only child who could read.” Morrison graduated with honors from Lorain High School in 1949 and went on to Howard University, where she majored in English and minored in the classics. Morrison’s best known book is likely “Beloved,” which centered on a mother making the tragic choice to murder her baby to save the girl from slavery; it won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1988. Five years later, she awarded the 1993 Nobel Prize for Literature, as judges hailed her as one “who in novels characterized by visionary force and poetic import, gives life to an essential aspect of American reality. Morrison was also bestowed America’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2012. You can see President Barack Obama hang the prize around her neck in the memorable photo above. Overall, Morrison was a renowned figure in literature, with multiple novels under her belt that spoke to the African-American experience. Along with “Beloved,” you may be familiar with “Jazz” and “Paradise,” the three of which comprised a loose trilogy — with the first book being adapted into the 1998 film starring Oprah and Danny Glover. Other notable works include “Song of Solomon,” “The Bluest Eye” and “Sula.” Throughout her unparalleled career, Morrison wrote 11 novels in her life, many non-fiction books, five children’s books, two plays, two short fiction stories and one libretto. She also wrote numerous essays and university papers. Morrison is also sort of relevant right now for a very unfortunate reason. On politics, she penned an essay shortly after the election of Donald Trump for the New Yorker titled “Mourning for Whiteness,” calling out white supremacy. A documentary about Toni’s life was made also earlier this year called “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am.” In a statement released by Princeton University, where she taught, the author’s family called her “our adored mother and grandmother.” “She was an extremely devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt who reveled in being with her family and friends,” the statement said, concluding as follows: “The consummate writer who treasured the written word, whether her own, her students or others, she read voraciously and was most at home when writing. “Although her passing represents a tremendous loss, we are grateful she had a long, well lived life.” She leaves behind two children — her sons, Slade and Harold — and an endless array of citizens around the world who have been influenced by her works and her words. Hannah Brown: Here’s How I REALLY Feel About Tyler Cameron …

Last week, Hannah Brown and Tyler Cameron spent the night together . The hunky model was spotted leaving her home the next morning. Now, after Tyler's date with Gigi Hadid , Hannah is addressing that sleepover and comparing it to the fantasy suites. She's also weighing in on Tyler's chances as the next Bachelor. Take a look: Hannah is not denying that she and Tyler spent some quality time together. “We definitely hung out and talked about everything and…” Hannah acknowledges in an interview with Entertainment Tonight . But she wants to clearify that her visit with Tyler was not at all like her windmill time earlier this year. “I know nobody will believe me [about] just hanging out and actually talking,” she admits. “But it was good to be able to catch up,” Hannah says. “We had a lot to talk about.” She also admits that it's totally weird to talk about any of this. “We are trying to figure out how we feel,” Hannah admits. “I have feelings,” she clarifies. “But I’m also single.” “And he’s single,” Hannah notes. “And I wanna keep my options open.” She of course makes it very clear: “and he can keep his options open.” “I don’t know where he’s at with wanting to be the Bachelor,” Hannah admits. She speculates: “I think he has his options open as well,” “And if the Bachelor is one of those options,” Hannah says. “Then I guess I'll support him.” She says that she'll do so “if that’s what he wants to do.” If she doesn't sound terribly enthusiastic on that subject, consider that she's also thinking of dating him. “I am single,” Hannah reminds the world. “And people slide into my DMs if they want to.” “But,” she notes. “I just got out of an engagement and dating 30 men.” Both of those sound exhausting under the best of circumstances. Considering the drama involved, Hannah's circumstances were less than best. “[Dating] is not really not my sole focus right now,” Hannah emphasizes. That's no real surprise. Sometimes, you need to take a step back after a serious relationship. “I'm working on Hannah and loving Hannah,” Hannah says. Good for her! That's totally the right thing to do. “And so you know,” she tells the world. “If that means going to have a drink again with somebody else, then I'm all for it.” In other words, the Bachelor Nation should not be too surprised if Hannah is spotted drinking or dining with another man. It doesn't mean that she's boning him. It means that she's talking to him. Is Tyler really going to be the next Bachelor? He's certainly a fan-favorite for the role. But fans don't get to make these decisions, or Peter Kraus would have been the leading man years ago. And Chris Harrison says that Tyler won't be the Bachelor because, get this, he's going on dates . Most people would see Tyler spending time with Hannah and then dating Gigi Hadid as part of his ongoing quest for love — what the franchise is all about. But apparently Chris and some others on the show view it as a sign of Tyler's “insincerety,” valuing the perks of fame over love. Anybody involved with Arie Luyendyk Jr. being the Bachelor has a whole lot of nerve calling any candidate “insincere.”

Amber Portwood: Look! My Daughter Still Loves Me!

Amber Portwood is one-for-two at the moment. She has two kids, and she’s allowed to spend time with one of them without a court-mandated supervisor hanging around to make sure the child is safe. That’s better than being zero-for-two in this department, we suppose. The embattled Teen Mom OG star was arrested over a month ago and charged with three felonies. She’s accused of attacking boyfriend Andrew Glennon on the morning of July 5; first by hurling a shoe at his head and then, according to the police report, of using a machete to try and break into the couple’s bathroom. Glennon was hiding behind the door of this bathroom with the pair’s infant son, James, at the time. Andrew quickly filed for full custody of the 14-month old. At a subsequent hearing, a judge dismissed a no-contact order against Portwood that had been filed by his dad on behalf of James and said she was permitted to see her son… not not by herself. Amber is allowed, however, to spend unsupervised time with her 10-year old daughter, Leah.   And that’s where the two above photos come in, along with the following caption, written by Amber this past Saturday: “Just missing one beautiful man. However this beauty put a smile on my face as always.” It’s unclear just when Amber will get to see James next. Leah, though, lives with Portwood’s ex, Gary Shirley, and his wife. Despite a very contentious history between Amber and Gary (she was arrested of assaulting him as well, back in 2010), these two are now on such solid terms that Shirley recently Tweeted his support for Portwood . “All I could ask is for is @AmberLPortwood to be happy & healthy,” Shirley wrote late last month, prior to using this arrest scandal to promote a new episode of Teen Mom OG. He received some flak for doing so. The veteran MTV personality welcomed Leah in 2008. James then arrived in May of 2018, after which Portwood suffered from such a serious bout of postpartum depression that she says she once considered hanging herself. In the several months since, Portwood has been open about her mental health struggles — and Glennon has stood by his girlfriend the entire time. She has even credited him with saving her life on more than one occasion. So… what prompted this recent (alleged) attack? We can’t say for certain. And the answer may simply be that Amber is admittedly unstable. However, she has also implied in recent days that Glennon is a drunk driver who was also cheating on her . Would this excuse or justify her attack? No, of course not. But it  would give us at least some insight into what she may have been thinking at the time of the incident. Back in June, Jim Bob Duggar’s beloved mother, Mary Duggar, passed away at the age of 78. Due to her advanced age, it was initially assumed that Mary had died of natural causes. But that later proved not to be the case. Fans were shocked to learn that Mary had drowned under mysterious circumstances. While several members of the Duggar family paid tribute to Mary in heartfelt social media posts, none of them offered any details with regard to the circumstances under which she drowned. And that’s certainly their right. But considering the family’s close relationship with fans, it’s not surprising that overzealous Duggar obsessives were quick to accuse Jim Bob and company of dodging questions about Mary’s death . Now, in an exclusive interview, a source close to the family tells The Hollywood Gossip  that the Duggars may have had good reason to keep the details of Mary’s passing under wraps. Earlier this week, the insider — a former employee of the Duggars who developed close friendships with several members of the family — informed us that in recent months,  Josiah Duggar has been clashing with Jim Bob like never before. Asked about the exact nature of their conflict, the source informed us that Mary was a confidant to both men — and their secrets may have been buried alongside her. “I think the only one who knew took it to her grave when she drowned,” said the tipster. “I still have my doubts on that death theory,” he added turning his attention to Mary’s drowning. “Her daughter is a dollar chasing piece of work who Jim Bob keeps at arm’s length.” He was referring to Deanna Jordan, Jim Bob’s sister and only sibling. Deanna and Jim Bob have been never been particularly close, and they appear to have cut ties entirely in the weeks since Mary’s passing. We have no way of knowing why that might be, but since Deanna was Mary’s primary caretaker in her final years, fans have speculated that Jim Bob feels her negligence was the true cause of his mother’s passing. Citing the version of events that the Duggars have shared with close family and friends, our source told us: “They said she tripped and fell in the pool and drowned, and her daughter found her.” However, the insider has doubts about that claim.  Deanna was the only person present when her mother’s body was found, and the informant told us she doesn’t have the greatest reputation in terms of honesty and transparency. “Never liked gold diggers or people that have to be the center of attraction,” he said, dismissing Deanna as a money-hungry social climber. The source added that Deanna no longer sees Jim Bob as her path to fame and fortune, however. Instead, she now believes her daughter, Amy Duggar, will be the one to put her on the path toward Easy Street. “Her daughter Amy is a chip of the old block,” the source said. He added that Amy briefly attempted to make it as a country singer, but quickly abandoned those plans: “Went to Nashville and a friend of mine up there said she couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket,” he told us. “Just trying to live off the Duggàr name.” Of course, even if it’s true that Mary tripped and fell into a pool while under her daughter’s care, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Deanna is at fault. Some sleuths online seemingly managed to figure out that Nicki Minaj will appear on the track, and the week-long delay of its release seems to confirm that. The Minaj Society Twitter account posted a tweet Sunday (August 4) that showed a Shazam result for “Hot Girl Summer” with Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign as the featured guests on the track. The pair sparked rumors last month after appearing on each other’s Instagram Live feeds, and Megan herself told her adoring fans that the song would be delayed a week for a rather special reason. Source: Leon Bennett / Getty We’re used to seeing Angela Bassett in more dramatic roles, but she’s flexing her funny bone in Netflix’s new comedy Otherhood . Bassett turns on the charm as Carol, one third of a trio of “empty nesters,” who find themselves on a mission to reconnect with their sons after they forget to call them on Mother’s Day. The journey, in turn, becomes a mission to self-discovery. MUST SEE:  Angela Bassett, Patricia Arquette & Felicity Huffman Star In Netflix’s ‘Otherhood’ All of which drew Bassett to the production. “It starts with the script,” she said in a candid chat. “That was one of the things that attracted me to this movie. The chance to go a different way. My friends tell me I’m funny.” Basset chose to work Netflix, not because she needed an opportunity of course, but because they tell everyday stories when Hollywood can be so limited. “Our director and producer, they’ve been trying to get this done for 10 years. What stories are being told on the big screen goes through cycles. ‘We’re not doing biographies right now, or made for television movies right now. It’s great to have a place like Netflix where there’s such an array and something for everyone. We shot in New York City. It’s a love letter to the city. It was a wonderful experience.” Basset revealed she ultimately could relate to her character, which also influenced her decision to join the cast. “It had a comedic tone but was based in reality and I could relate being a mother. I relate being a girlfriend. I relate being a wife. I could relate on so many levels,” she said. “I thought this is something we don’t generally see but this is so real — the whole empty nest thing and who are you after the husband is gone and the children are gone. Depression is real after that for a lot of women. In families, sometimes the children are holding it together and everyone is focused on them. They’re fighting for their autonomy, and go off to college, who are you?” Bassett’s character and her Black son add some much-needed melanin to the Otherhood screen, which is important to Bassett who constantly reaffirms her children that they’re skin is beautiful. “It’s very important because the power of imagery and the history of this country and we know the scales have not been evenly placed and it’s very important, having a son and a daughter, that they understand who they are. That they are comfortable in their in skin that they’re skin is beautiful. For any woman, whatever skin you live in is beautiful but especially because it’s a life they have to live where they may not get a lot of affirmation in different rooms that they enter. They have to go in with confidence and come out with confidence. I just gave my daughter, I was leaving early this morning, a paper. I said ‘This is a little present for you because this is who you are little queen.’ It was an image of Nefertiti. So she should could always be proud of who she is and know that she is beautiful.” As for keeping herself grounded and motivated, Bassett offered the advice she gives her son, “When he goes off to the summer camp where he is a counselor at an autistic camp there are some days it’s a challenge. But that’s what it’s about, rising to the challenge and I tell him, ‘Yeah it’s tough, but find the good and praise it. It’s about your attitude and how you look t the situation. You won’t like it all but there’s a lesson in it.” Otherhood is streaming NOW on Netflix. ‘LHHHS6’ Recap: Apryl Has A Love Jones For Fizzle Pop

Source: Leon Bennett / Getty Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood brings season six back by leading with the Apryl and Fizz drama. As we know, they’ve announced that they’re an official couple since #TheBlogs outed them because it was obvious that something was going on. Obviously, the road to their relationship wasn’t without mess. Moniece hates it and Apryl, and we don’t quite know where Omarion stands. So, we begin the episode four months before all that drama started, and before Fizz and Apryl stopped fronting about their feelings. J-Boog, and Fizz come together at the gym to prepare for the millennium tour. They also meet up with Spectacular from Pretty Ricky, who also was also on the tour. The thing is, Fizz and Omarian had a falling out probably about five or six years ago and haven’t really spoken since. Omarion has been quiet about Apryl and Fizz but he’s supposed to be on the millennium tour (and we know by now that he was), so the behind the scenes of this is going to be interesting, especially because Fizz said the only person he’s ever been friends with, in B2K is J-Boog. The rest is just business.  Speaking of Apryl, she’s back too, obvi. She says Omarian left her two months after she had their second baby and she doesn’t know why, and they’re currently in the middle of custody drama. But she’s glad to be back. She’s also filming around the time she was filling in for Melyssa Ford on Hollywood Unlocked so we’ll probably get to see some of her interactions with Jason Lee, who is also back as the mess bearer.  Princess and Ray J are back with their daughter Melody in tow. They’re still struggling to juggle couple time with parent time. Speaking of parent time, A1 and Ray J are friends again. A1 forgave Ray for spreading rumors that Lyrica slept with Safaree. Plus, they have new fatherhood in common and lean on each other for support. They meet up with their babies, and this is where A1 tells Ray J that he and Lyrica are not on good terms. Actually, Lyrica picked up and left him a couple of weeks ago and he doesn’t know if or when she’s coming back. She has been gone for 10 days thus far. Hold that thought because we’ll get her side of the story soon.  K. Michelle is back. She’s looking for a new house and working on her music. She has plans to make it big in the country music world. She also hired a surrogate because she wants to have twin girls.  Then we meet Brittany B a Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter with a long list of impressive credits on her resume. She’s also one of the youngest African-American women at Warner Music Group. Black Chyna stops by her office to let her know that she wants her music career to jump off and Brittany plans to help.  Back to A1. A1 and Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked are allegedly friends. So, Jason hits up A1 because someone sent him a video of A1 video chatting and flirting with Summer Bunni, an IG baddie. This video is supposed to be proof of A1 cheating on Lyrica with this woman, who was one of the women in question when Lyrica was pregnant. A1 says Lyrica knows about this (but she probably really doesn’t). However, he would rather this not be posted given how he and Lyrica aren’t cool right since this could make things worse. Jason Lee is in an interesting situation. If they’re truly friends then he wouldn’t release it, right? At the same time, there are no friends in Hollywood. Jason chases exclusives so of course, he’s going to post it. He tells A1 that he’ll give him some time to warn Lyrica first. None of this is going to go well.  When Lyrica gets back to LA she explains her side of things to her mom, who has been helping with watching her baby. Basically, she left because she felt like she was dealing with a lot. She was tired of the rumors about her and Safaree and over A1 cheating on her. Apparently, A1 has been flewing (yes, flewing) chicks out, paying for boob jobs and all kinds of stuff. When they see each other face to face, this just turns into another argument that goes so left that A1 decides not to tell her about the video because she’s already super pissed.  So, because we know what show this is, then you can already assume that Jason Lee ends up releasing the video. Let’s fast forward a bit to yet another conversation gone wrong with Lyrica and A1. This one happens over the phone because A1 decides to go on tour with T-Pain without telling Lyrica. That pisses her off. So, she questions why he didn’t tell her he left. He just turns things around on her and asks why she left him for two weeks and didn’t say anything. Then she asks why he didn’t say anything about the video. And he tries to turn things around on her again, asking her why she has been reading #TheBlogs.  Finally, the episode winds down with Apryl and Moniece coming face to face, again, to chat about whatever it is they’re not feeling about each other. Basically,. This is fall out from their social media war. Apryl feels like Moniece lashed out at her first. Moniece feels differently and says she’s not the aggressor, and she’s tired of people looking at her as this bitter baby mama. Then she declares, “NO ONE’S GOING TO SIT IN MY FACE EVER AGAIN AND TELL ME ABOUT THE FATHER OF MY CHILD!”  Annnnnnd scene.  You know they had to leave us hanging for drama’s sake.
