John Cena’s family comedy Playing With Fire hits theaters this weekend. The movie is funny and filled with a lot of slapstick comedy your children will love. The film starts off by showcasing a straight-laced fire superintendent named Jake “Supe” Carson and his elite team of firefighters fighting a blaze and perfectly saving the day. Once the group of Smoke Jumpers are back at the base they watch a news report of Commander Richards played by 24 star Dennis Haysbert basking in their glory and saying he will be looking to name a successor to take his place. This news gets ‘Supe’ excited as his firefighting brothers tell him he’s a shoo-in for that promotion. This has been Supe’s life long dream, but that’s when things start to fall apart as half of his team quits, right before a fire breaks out in the middle of the forest. The remaining crew takes this time to prove their worth by going out and putting out the fire by themselves. During this firefight, they end up saving a group of children whose parents are away for the weekend forcing these kids to have to stay at the fire department, but that’ when the hijinks begin. I thought this film was straight fire and laugh out loud funny. It’s ridiculous for sure and John Cena knows it telling me, during our interview on this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine, that he appreciated my favorable review, “but I would be ignorant to think that were wouldn’t be an antagonist opinion to this movie.” John has faced a lot of criticism from this film already because while filming Playing With Fire he went back to the job that made him famous, Professional Wrestling for a match with The Undertaker and got ripped a new one for having a “stupid haircut.” John opens up about how he handled that experience, “I think step one is being comfortable in your own skin,” adding. “Give all you have, know who you are and honestly evaluate the criticism.” Solid advice. The Dreamville honcho was one of the closing headliners for the three-day Day N Vegas festival this past weekend and delivered another one of his crowd-pleasing sets. During one portion of his show, J. Cole rolled out a promotional video styled similarly to a presidential campaign spot. If the speculation surrounding the clip is true, this would serve as the first official announcement of an upcoming LP titled The Fall Off . Today is National Sandwich Day and all across the country, people are having moments of joy because the now-beloved Popeyes Chicken Sandwich has made a glorious return after three months off the menu. But, if you don’t want to have to wait in line for hours at the counter or drive-thru, we have a bit of a life hack for you. Here’s how you can make your own copycat Popeyes Chicken Sandwich via Gimmie Delicious. INGREDIENTS: For the chicken marinade 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon EACH paprika garlic powder, black pepper, salt For Breading 1 cup flour ½ cup corn starch 1 tablespoon EACH paprika garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (for spicy) 1 teaspoon EACH salt & pepper Spicy mayo ½ cup mayo 1 teaspoon hot sauce 1 teaspoon paprika or cajun or taco seasoning 1/2 tsp garlic powder To Assemble: 4 medium-sized brioche buns Mayonnaise Sliced pickles 3-4 cups canola oil for frying DIRECTIONS: To Marinate chicken Pound chicken breasts in between two pieces of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Cut each chicken breast in half crosswise to make 2 small pieces of chicken about the same size as the bun (see video below). In a large bowl, buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, salt & black pepper. Add the chicken to the mix and place in the fridge to marinate up to 24 hours or use right away. To Cook Chicken Heat oil in a large heavy-duty skillet or pot on medium temperature or until the temperature reaches 350F. In a medium shallow bowl, whisk the flour, cornstarch, and spices. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of the buttermilk batter into the flour mixture and mix it through with a fork. Working with 1 piece at a time, dredge chicken the flour mixture and press flour on the top chicken to form a thick crust. Transfer chicken to hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes per side or until the outside is crispy and golden and the internal temperature reaches 165F. To Assemble Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large saucepan and toast buns face down until golden and crisp. Whisk all the ingredients for the mayo in a small bowl and spread a generous layer of mayo on each bun. Top with pickles and chicken. Enjoy hot! Brian Chesky, the company’s CEO, announced on Saturday that Airbnb is “redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties,” which includes expanded manual screening for reservations that are deemed “high-risk.” Starting today, we are banning “party houses” and we are redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties and get rid of abusive host and guest conduct, including conduct that leads to the terrible events we saw in Orinda. Ben Breit told The LA Times that the rental listing where the shooting occurred had rules that barred parties, also adding that the listing and the person who rented it have both been removed from the site. According to police , over 100 people from surrounding areas visited the home in the East Bay suburb of Orinda on Thursday night. The gathering was heavily advertised on social media and officers ended up responding to a noise complaint at the residence, but when they arrived, they found a “highly chaotic scene” with multiple gunshot victims. The Times also reports that Airbnb has reached an agreement with the city of Los Angeles to create a system that will streamline enforcement of the city’s new regulations on their site. Under the system–which has yet to be created–new hosts won’t be able to publish listings without final approval from the city. On top of that, existing listings without the city’s required registration number will be removed.
We all know O.J. Simpson is almost definitely guilty of murdering two innocent people back in June of 1994. But is the former running back also guilty of a lesser unethical act? These are really the only two facts that support this ongoing rumor of O.J. being Khloe’s dad — but the speculation has run so rampant that Kris addressed such talk on Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. “June’s always depressing. It always reminds me of the anniversary of Nicole’s death,” Jenner told with mother, MJ Shannon, on air. “And it’s like, year after year, it becomes a little more faded.” Brown Simpson was killed — alongside Ron Goldman — on June 12, 1994. This summer marked the 25th anniversary of the tragedy; and Jenner explained last night that she was asked to sit down for an interview to mark the awful milestone. She turned it down, however. “The last thing we want to do is keep talking about that side of it again,” Jenner said. “Just with [what] the public wants to know, and what they’re interested in, is not the same thing as what our memories are and where our hearts are.” Makes sense to us. Kris then delved into chatter of her having slept with O.J. and expressed total disdain over their existence. “It’s really kind of pathetic that when rumors get started the media gives it life and breath,” she lamented. “And on the anniversary of Nicole’s death, it’s so tasteless and disgusting.” Jenner could have ignored the unfounded gossip, of course, but chose to be proactive on the episode instead. Yup, she confirmed plans to sue the unnamed publication that printed the O.J. Simpson affair story. “It’s just lie after lie after lie after lie and there’s only so much that one human being can take,” Jenner said to Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. Couldn’t Kris just focus on “the good,” as suggested by Khloe and not waste any time or energy on this nonsense? No way, that would not make for a good episode storyline, Kris replied. Just kidding. She said this instead: “I think it’s just really unfair to Nicole’s family, my family for these stupid rumors to be flying around out there. Under the guidance of his school’s chess coach Shawn Martinez , he learned how to play chess within a year and began participating in competitive matches. While in the spotlight for excelling at chess, a focus was put on Adewumi and his family’s living situation. His family fled from Africa to the U.S. to escape the Boko Haram extremist group two years ago and had been living in a homeless shelter. After their story received national attention, a GoFundMe page was created in an effort to help his family afford a permanent home. The Adewumi’s received over $200,000 from their fundraising campaign and moved into an apartment near Tani’s school. They also utilized the money to launch the Tanitoluwa Adewumi Foundation to help African immigrants in the U.S. who are facing financial hardships. “Anybody who is coming from Africa who is in the position we were in, we will help them. I want to release my blessing to others,” Adewumi’s father Kayode said in a statement . The film will be based on three books about the family that will be released under the W Publishing group in 2020. Noah will produce the project alongside Bob Teitel , George Tillman Jr. , Norman Aladjem , and Haroon Saleem . Paramount has acquired the project. Jeremy Roloff has shared some surprising news with fans. And also some concerning news. The former Little People, Big World star took to Instagram late this week and informed followers of the following piece of information: He very recently underwent surgery. On Saturday, the 29-year old explained what happened, why it happened — and how he’s making changes to ensure it never happens again. “Yesterday I had my first surgery. Inguinal hernia surgery. “I’ve had a hernia for the past few years, but thought I could live with it in order to avoid surgery, so I ignored it.” Yiikes, huh? We don’t recall Jeremy having ever touched on such an issue before. He continued with his update by providing a lot more information. To wit: “Over the last several months I’ve been having some increasing health concerns, specifically severe lower back pain and chronic shoulder pain. “I’ve come to realize that I’ve been subconsciously protecting my hernia with poor posture and lack of core strength.” The host of a podcast and the author of a memoir, Jeremy went on to say that he isn’t in peak physical condition. This has a lot to do with how he’s been feeling, too. “I’ve pretty much eliminated all physical exercise too which has increased the problem because of muscle loss which has me walking weird as well,” he wrote online, adding: I’ve been ignoring my health and it all came to a head when just a few days ago I threw out my back after sneezing. Embarrassing, right? Roloff is expecting his second child with wife Audrey in January. So it’s imperative that he gets back on his feet in order to help with his growing family, especially once the newborn arrives. “All said, I’m considering this a turn in my health journey,” Roloff concluded. “I have a goal to be in the best shape of my life by 32. Health is something that needs continual attention or else it unnoticeably fades – like most things in life. Time to put some attention back on personal health!” For those interested, a hernia occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place, per the Cleveland Clinic. For men, the inguinal canal is a passageway for the spermatic cord and blood vessels leading to the testicles. The injury can be very painful if left untreated, as Jeremy just found out. We’re glad he’ll soon be back on his feet, though, and ready to help with precious baby number-two. Jeremy and Audrey announced that they are expanding their family in July … and revealed it would be a baby boy in August. ”We’re so excited!” Roloff wrote on Instagram for the gender reveal, which featured footage of the former reality stars finding out it was a boy via blue-colored smoke. “We are surprised and can’t wait to be a family of four,” Audrey captioned her own video.
