If you’re a fan of Tekashi69 — assuming there are any of you left out there — it may be time to start worrying for your boy’s safety. As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Tekashi offered testimony against two of his former Nine Trey Bloods gang-mates last month. And we probably don’t need to tell you that snitching is not looked kindly upon in the world of organized crime. When Tekashi first took the stand, it was widely assumed that he would enter witness protection upon his release from prison. Now, however, it seems the 23-year-old is planning to carry on with his rap career as though nothing happened. In fact, insiders are claiming that Tekashi recently sold the movie rights for his story to 50 Cent. This may create a problem, of course, as Mr. 69 is likely to be a marked man once he’s set free from federal custody. And there’s a good chance the price on his head just increased exponentially, due to the fact that the two men he testified against — Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack have both been found guilty. The two defendants have yet to be sentenced, but both are likely to be locked up for at least the next decade. One of the many crimes Ellison was convicted of was kidnapping Tekashi , so that’s a nice little victory for the embattled rapper. But it comes at a very steep price. In addition to snitching on Ellison and Mack, Tekashi identified Cardi B as a member of the Nine Treys and claimed that rapper Jim Jones put out hits on his rivals on more than one occasion. Tekashi is convinced that the media fascination with his case will prove beneficial to his career — and the crazy part is, he might be right. Whatever the case, there’s no denying that he’s more famous now than when he was first locked up. For better or worse, public interest in the rainbow-haired emcee is at an all-time high. “Y’all could call 69 a rat but all y’all really some bandwagons cuz y’all was snitching too, PERIODTTT Idc I said what I said,” one Twitter user remarked on Thursday. “Tekashi gonna sell even more records after this is done ’ and one other commenter posted this: ‘Y’all can pretend but check this out I’m NOT sitting behind bars after you tried to harm and kidnap me,” another fan tweeted. It remains to be seen whether 69’s new status as a media darling will help him move records. But one thing’s for certain — turning against his former partners in crime will lead to a much lighter sentence. Tekashi is scheduled to be sentenced on January 24, 2020, at 10 a.m. There was a time when it looked as though he might remain behind bars for the rest of his life.’ Thanks to the deal he struck with prosecutors, he’ll likely be released sometime in 2020. We just hope he’s invested in a top-notch security detail.
