Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi recently welcomed her first child, son Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. Now you can meet him on the cover of People ! After more than 24 hours of labor, Snooki gave birth to Lorenzo August 26. Fortunately, she and fiance Jionni LaValle say that choosing a name was easier. “We were going back and forth, and I just happened to think of Lorenzo,” says Jionni, inspired by a child he knew from his hometown. “She loved it.” The little guy’s middle name, Dominic, is in memory of Polizzi’s uncle (her father’s brother), who passed away. “I did it for my dad,” 24-year-old Snooki says. Through it all, the future Mr. and Mrs. Jionni LaValle seem elated and content. The couple can’t say enough about their new baby, and their new life. With Jersey Shore canceled after this coming season, she’ll have plenty of time for it. “It’s a different kind of love that I never felt before,” she says. “When I got pregnant, everything changed. The partying is long gone. I’m a new person.” Pick up a copy of People today for more pics and Snooki’s full interview!

With Britney Spears already on board , might Simon Cowell be giving up all notions of The X Factor as a singing competition? It’s hard not to think the producer is simply aiming to rake in the ratings, considering the latest name reportedly on the table to join season two as a judge: Miley Cyrus. Simply put, “there have been talks with Miley,” an X Factor insider tells Celebuzz, a rumor backed up by E! News. Both outlets also report that Fergie, Avril Lavigne and Demi Lovato are in the running to join Cowell, Spears and L.A. Reid on the panel. A decision will need to come within a month or so, in order for auditions to begin and The X Factor to premiere season two in September. What do you think of Miley Cyrus as a judge? Would she be a good choice? UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter now claims Lovato is the one to beat and is in “final negotiations” for the gig.
ABC has released, in the form of a season overview, more details of Emily Maynard ‘s search for love, commencing Monday, May 14 on The Bachelorette . While kicking things off in her hometown of Charlotte, Emily will travel to Dubrovnik, Croatia; Prague, Czech Republic; and London, England this summer. Read The Bachelorette spoilers we’ve pulled together so far regarding which men make it to the hometown dates and more, then read ABC’s rundown: The 26-year-old former Bachelor winner first meets her 25 suitors at a southern mansion for a cocktail party after putting six-year-old daughter Ricki to bed. Several of Maynard’s bachelors will attempt to make memorable first impressions during their arrivals as always … that’s par for the course on this show. Think actual glass slippers being presented, dudes riding in on skateboards, a party MC who breaks down into dance, and a gesture from a true southern gentleman who gives Emily something to symbolize how he’d protect her and Ricki. In addition, Maynard will also encounter one suitor who makes a grand entrance in a helicopter … is it Brad Womack? Is it Bentley Williams? No and no. The promos always mislead you that way … The Bachelorette Promo Anyway, once the cocktail party begins, the competition to impress Maynard only intensifies, as a “confident” charmer gets upstaged by a single dad of six. A “handsome” man gives her a pair of custom bobblehead dolls, a bachelor is nervous to explain his career because it may remind her of her late fiance, and another single father brings her a heartfelt letter from his 11-year-old son to read. The mood then turns serious when host Chris Harrison arrives and reveals it’s time for Maynard to present one of the men with a first impression rose. The men will become increasingly competitive, as Emily decides to award the special rose to one “charming” bachelor … a decision surprising nobody. The Bachelorette season premiere will conclude with Maynard whittling her 25 bachelors down to 19. But she’s just getting started at that juncture. Emily Maynard’s around-the-world dates will include: Traveling to Bermuda where she must eliminate three bachelors before leaving. Visiting London for a week where she’ll receive a double-decker bus tour of Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park along with a solo dinner in the Tower of London and watching a group of suitors perform scenes from “Romeo and Juliet” in Stratford-on-Avon. Traveling to Dubrovnik where she’lll watch Pixar’s upocoming Brave movie and a group of bachelors will compete in a round of Highland games to win extra time with her. Going to Prague where Maynard and her remaining bachelors will enjoy a private dinner cruise down the Vltava River, explore a medieval castle, and check out the Lennon Wall of Love and a spooky dungeon. After four hometown dates, the final three men will then have “exotic” overnight dates with Maynard in an undisclosed location. According to ABC, obviously “there are surprises in store for Emily that will shake her world.” Color us shocked and in utter disbelief.
Remaining seven get current Wednesday night, taking on hits from this decade with surprisingly great results. By James Montgomery Joshua Ledet Photo: Getty Images On Wednesday’s “American Idol,” the crowd was crazy (except for poor Hollie Cavanagh), the judges slightly cracked (comparing Phillip Phillips to the lovechild of Steve McQueen and Johnny Cash) and the music actually current. Shoot, for a second there, you probably thought you were watching “The Voice” or something. Yes, it was a big night in “Idol” land, as the top seven took on songs from this decade with surprisingly good results. Most soared and scored, and though we can’t believe no one did an Adele tune, we’ve gotta say, the remaining contestants definitely brought the goods. Perhaps they should just sing contemporary songs every week? But whose performances earned the highest marks? Who fell to the back of the class? And what the heck was going on with the crowd after Hollie’s performance? For answers to all of those questions and more, here’s our “American Idol” report card: Jessica Sanchez: Her family is officially my favorite ever. Her decision to do Jazmine Sullivan’s “Stuttering” may have mystified Jimmy Iovine, but it was clearly the right call. She split the difference between previous big-voiced stunners and all that Bebe Chez stuff, threw in some stank (and some scatting) and delivered a performance that, quoth Randy Jackson, “Slayed the biggest fish of the night.” So much voice, so emotionally over-the-top, and so diva-riffic — and all seemingly so effortless, Sanchez flexed her talents and fired back after a few weeks in the wilderness. “Every time I hear you sing, I forget where I am,” Steven Tyler said. So, he hears her sing in grocery stores and behind the wheel? A- Joshua Ledet: He acted adorably upon getting a birthday message from Fantasia. He’s clearly found his lane over the past few weeks, and his confidence seems to grow with each subsequent performance. This week, he did Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby,” which started vampy, campy and maybe even a tad bit old fashioned (even for a retroist like Mars), but it really picked up speed in the second half, building to a big note and a fiery finish, earning Ledet the night’s first standing ovation. He’s certainly a dynamic performer, but is he also a current one? That might be the only thing standing between him and the title. Oh, and Colton Dixon’s female fanbase. Grade: B+ Hollie Cavanagh: Man, even her hometown visit was boring. Chose to sing Pink’s “Perfect” (or, as she put it, “Pay-feckt”) and, clearly rattled by repeat visits to the bottom three, had the thousand-yard stare going from her intro package onward. But, she delivered the goods onstage, with a performance that was both confident and restrained. And that last note! Apparently, however, my opinion was in the minority, as the judges did everything short of zipping up her suitcases and booking her a window seat. J.Lo gave her the “You look beautiful” and the “We’ll see how it all pans out” (double kiss of death). Steven mumbled something about it “Not being perfect,” and Randy, addressing the odd vacuum of tension in the room, only added, “It’s all of a sudden very quiet in here.” Jeez, this is getting difficult to watch. End it now. B Skylar Laine: Producers introduced us to her new Twitter tag — #skoutlaws — which, upon first glance, looks like “Skoal” (oddly fitting). She played it safe by choosing Kellie Pickler’s “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You,” which showed off her vocal range by … uh, displaying how adept she was at playing rhythm guitar. Her performance was proficient, professional and pretty much perfect, but still felt like a step back from last week’s breakout “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Loved the hobo trashcan fires though. B- Elise Testone: She decided to tackle Lady Gaga’s “You and I” ( told you she would ) and was sadly talked out of playing drums by Jimmy Iovine, which probably would’ve been the unintentional comedy highlight of 2012. The performance was passionate, if not particularly polished, but that’s been par for the course with her in recent weeks. She can bring it, for sure, though if (when) she survives, perhaps it’s time to soften things up just a tad? “Elise is back!” Randy enthused. Until next week, of course. B- Colton Dixon: The most famous alumnus of the Middle Tennessee Christian School (go Cougars!) went Apex Predator this week, throwing shade at fellow fella Phillip Phillips and swinging for the fences with Skylar Grey’s “Love the Way You Lie.” With a string section, some smoke and a soaring-for-the-sake-of-soaring bridge, Dixon was clearly in it to win it, though thanks to the arrangement’s languid pacing and CDix’s longing stares into the camera, this one very nearly veered into self-parody. The girls loved it, of course. Oh, and any time Steven and Randy compliment your choice of jacket, well, perhaps it’s time to fire your stylist. C+ Phillip Phillips: “Idol” producers played up his rural roots and pawn-shop past by piping the theme from “Sanford and Sons” into his hometown package. Classy. Phillip refused to take part in Iovine’s Machiavellian scheme to pit him against Colton, which automatically makes me like him 10x more than CDix. His version of Maroon 5’s “Give a Little More” featured all the usual Phillips’ trademarks (grouting, foot shuffling, forehead-veining) though, credit where credit is due: Thanks to the addition of a sax player, he basically turned this into a Dave Matthews Band performance. “I think we’ve seen that a couple times,” Randy said. Yeah, dawg, like on Under the Table and Dreaming. C Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Courtney Robertson isn’t exactly known for subtlety. Or class. Or sanity. Still, The Bachelor bad girl ups the ante even more than usual on next week’s hometown date with Ben Flajnik, planning a “big surprise” for the hunk. “I’m going to tell him I love him, and doing it in a very special way,” Courtney Robertson teases in a sneak peek from Monday night’s crucial episode. “We’re at this place where I’ve always wanted to get married and I’ve got a little wedding planned … This is the best way I can think of to show Ben how I feel about him.” Courtney/The Bachelor producers really know how to pick ’em: The Bachelor Sneak Peek: Courtney Robertson Hometown Date Armed with two notepads, Court suggest they “could write some vows” for one another. “Do you have rings, too?” Ben Flajnik asks, likely only half-kidding. “Maybe I do,” Robertson teases. “Maybe I do.” Girl is full-on crazy. Ben Flajnik goes on his hometown dates next week on The Bachelor. Kacie Boguskie, Nicki Sterling, Lindzi Cox and black widow Courtney Robertson have won the chance to bring a smiling Ben back to their hometowns. For hometown dates! The show uses that word almost as much as the inaccurate “Ben and I’s relationship.” Why? We have no idea, but that’s what they’re called, all the time, and Flajnik is going to be put through the ringer by the ladies’ respective parents. Whose folks have reservations? Whose are most receptive? Who will advance to the final three? Watch the promo (around the 7:00 mark) in the clip below: The Bachelor Hometown Dates Promo
