‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’: Everything You Need To Know

We’ve been following the penultimate ‘Twilight’ entry for years … and now it’s finally here! By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Well over three years after “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer exclusively told MTV News that “Breaking Dawn” should be split into two films, the first part of the vampire epic rolled into theaters Friday (November 18). In the time since that interview, we’ve covered the two films exhaustively. The sheer amount of content is staggering — hours and hours of interviews, exclusive reveals of footage and photos, analysis of casting news and conversations with fans. And right here on this page you can find it all. Right here, you can find out everything there is to know about “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1”: The Split The official announcement that “Breaking Dawn” would be split into two movies came in June 2010, shortly before “Eclipse” opened to a $64 million weekend. By then, “Dreamgirls” director Bill Condon had already bested Gus Van Sant and Sofia Coppola for the right to helm the films. “I definitely think it was the right thing to do, for the movie and for the book,” Taylor Lautner told MTV News of the split. “It’s hard enough to condense 500 pages into a script, but to condense 800 and everything that’s going on in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ it would have been impossible.” Soon, casting for the new vamps had begun, with folks like Maggie Grace, Lee Pace and Noel Fisher signing on to play bloodsuckers. Young Mackenzie Foy was picked to be Bella and Edward’s daughter. Filming kicked off in Rio de Janeiro in November 2010. The First Looks The first peek at the movie arrived shortly thereafter — a simple shot of Kristen Stewart clutching feathers in her hand during her honeymoon. Months would go by until we actually got a look at Stewart and Pattinson in the flesh. To start the new year, Summit released a photo of the two lovebirds in bed . “It’s always awkward in a way if you’re doing it with anybody,” RPattz told us of the sex scene. “It really depends on how it’s staged and stuff. It’s like doing Twister.” During an “MTV First” with Pattinson tied to “Water for Elephants,” the Brit ended up spilling tons of dirt on “Breaking Dawn” — sex scenes, musical performances and his thoughts on his movie daughter. Lautner sat down for his own “MTV First” shortly thereafter, an effort to promote “Abduction,” but obviously the talk turned early and often to “Twilight.” In June came the MTV Movie Awards, and, as usual, we delivered a “Twilight” first look: this time, an exclusive trailer for “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” complete with evidence of Bella Swan’s wedded bliss and baby bump. Fans were blown away , and so was Stewart, as she told us later at San Diego Comic-Con. “I think the most surreal experience was getting married,” she said. “It was right at the bitter end. I was amping up to it the entire time. They left me on my toes for six months. And then it was just sort of very cathartic to see the entire cast in the pews and everyone excited to see how it was all going to go down.” The Arrival More footage , more posters and more photos continued to arrive. The soundtrack lineup hit the Web in September — including names like Bruno Mars, Christina Perri and Theophilus London — and the cavalcade of premieres began in October. Before their U.S. press duties truly kicked off, we sat down with Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner for yet another “MTV First.” There was talk of sex, abs and G-strings, as well as the debut of an exclusive clip . We also sat down for extended one-on-one interviews with the three actors: Pattinson discussed fulfilling sexual fantasies, Stewart confessed that the sex scene was “all close-ups,” and Lautner revealed that he fought against taking his shirt off in the movie. With just days to go until opening, we hit the “Breaking Dawn” black carpet in Los Angeles. Though all the Twi-craziness has been part of his life for years, Pattinson admitted he still can’t comprehend it all. “It’s like an alternate reality,” he told us. “My everyday life is so boring, and then you go to these things and everyone thinks something cool is happening.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Taylor Lautner On Honeymoon Scene: ‘It’s About Time’

‘I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,’ Lautner tells MTV News. By Tiffany Miles, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Of all the buzz surrounding this week’s hugely anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” the vast majority of fan rumblings and excitement have been about and for one scene and one scene only: the “honeymoon scene,” a.k.a. Bella and Edward’s sex scene. It’s a different story for the actors involved, specifically for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart , who have talked at length about how awkward filming the scene was. Their co-stars seem to be onboard with their enthusiasm for the “action,” however. When MTV News caught up with Taylor Lautner recently, he said he was ready for it. “I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,” Lautner said. “I think everybody will feel the same way. We’ve seen Edward and Bella in their relationship grow so much that it’s about time.” “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer told us at the “Breaking Dawn” premiere that the scene in the movie gives fans a lot more to see and think about than she did in the book. “I think it’s romantic, and it does give you more than the book does,” Meyer said. “I know some of the sites call it, instead of ‘fade to black,’ ‘fade to sad.’ They’d love to see more. I think this gives them that,” she said. “It gives them a romantic peek into the honeymoon. We don’t want to see too much.” Although everyone seems to be excited to see the honeymoon scene, Lautner still isn’t sure that Bella made the right decision when she chose Edward over his character, Jacob Black. When asked if he thought Bella made the wrong call, he jokingly said, “You know, I go back and forth with that one [question] still.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Kate Middleton Pregnant, Tabloid Swears!

Kate Middleton is around six weeks pregnant with their first child, according to celebrity gossip magazine In Touch , citing a royal source that’s allegedly well connected. Is it true? We’ve heard it all before – quite recently in fact – so we say no. Especially since the palace specifically promised to break any such news first, with no leaks . But hey, she sure is glowing and holding her belly a lot , so there’s that: According to the insider (who has correctly revealed other “secrets,” including their honeymoon location and the queen’s wedding gift), she is “definitely” pregnant. That settles it then. “Since before they even got married, it’s been made clear to William and Kate that having children should be their number-one priority,” the royal source reveals . Queen Elizabeth II, in particular, has supposedly been dropping hints about wanting a great-grandchild – and an heir to the throne. Now she’s supposedly “elated.” Even with Kate early in the first trimester, they’re said to have already started planning with nurseries in each of their three residences, and by picking names. Now that their first born child will inherit the throne regardless of gender, Prince William, who was famously close to his mother, is said to be hoping for a girl. Don’t expect a baby at all in nine months, but that’s a cute made-up anecdote. Nice to see fabricated Kate Middleton pregnancy stories are getting sappier.

Where Will Bruno Mars’ ‘Rain’ Fall In ‘Breaking Dawn’?

MTV News takes a closer listen to ‘It Will Rain’ for lyrical clues about its placement in the film. By Jocelyn Vena and Amy Wilkinson Bruno Mars Photo: Jemal Countess/Getty Images On Tuesday (September 27), Bruno Mars dropped the sweeping, heartbreaking “It Will Rain,” the lead single from the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” soundtrack , which drops November 8. The Smeezingtons-produced song is all about the pain someone feels when they are deeply in love. On it, Mars croons tortured lines like “There’s no religion that could save me/ No matter how long my knees are on the floor/ So keep in mind all the sacrifices I’m making/ To keep you by my side/ And keep you from walking out the door.” While Twilighters will have to wait until November 18 to find out where the song will be featured in the flick, there are several lyrical cues that offer hints. Hit play on the embedded video as we talk through the song, then read on for a deeper exploration. The Wedding Of course it won’t appear in the actual wedding scene, like when Bella walks down the aisle, but lines like “I’ll never be your mother’s favorite/ Your daddy can’t even look me in the eye/ If I was in their shoes I’d be doing the same/ Say, ‘There goes my little girl/ Walking with that troublesome guy’ ” certainly mirror Charlie’s feelings about the nuptials. Jacob’s Goodbye When Mars sings, “Don’t you say goodbye/ Don’t you say goodbye/ I’ll pick up these broken pieces till I’m bleeding/ If that’ll make it right,” it seems to mimic the heartbreak Jacob feels as he sees Bella marry another man and says goodbye to her once more. The Honeymoon Sure, the song is about heartbreak and pain, but the sexy, sultry nature of the track could make for the right kind of mood-setter as Bella and Edward finally get it on. The Pregnancy As Mars cries, ” ‘Cause there’ll be no sunlight/If I lose you, baby/ There’ll be no clear skies/ If I lose you, baby/ And just like the clouds, my eyes will do the same/ If you walk away, every day it’ll rain,” it mirrors Edward’s angst as he thinks he might lose Bella if she has their child, a vampire/human hybrid. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer: A Closer Look

We break down the key scenes in the latest ‘Twilight Saga’ sneak peek. By Jocelyn Vena and Josh Wigler Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” trailer Photo: Summit Entertainment Lots of romance, a touch of action and even a vampire/human birthing scene are all included in the latest “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” trailer . After dropping a trailer during June’s MTV Movie Awards, the newest teaser fleshes out the moments that fans will salivate over most when the Bill Condon-directed film opens in November. Check out our five favorite moments in the new “Breaking Dawn” trailer. Hit play on the embedded video as we walk through some of the key moments in the trailer, then read on for a deeper exploration of what’s going on in the “Breaking Dawn” footage. The Wedding The trailer opens with the ethereal wedding, as Bella and her father come to terms with her decision to marry her vampire lover, Edward. Dad is reserved but offers his assurance that he’ll never let Bella fall, serving as a sort of theme for the trailer: Everyone seems to be resigned to the Edward/Bella marriage. Jacob’s Goodbye “You think I’d be used to telling you goodbye by now,” Jacob says as he embraces his unrequited love. It seems, much like Bella’s father, that while Jacob may not be completely onboard, all he wants is for Bella to be happy. The Honeymoon Sweeping and romantic, the honeymoon has everything Twilighters have been waiting for, including boat rides, skinny dipping and that already teased bed-breaking love scene. “Last night was the best night of my existence,” Edward says — and fans will no doubt agree with that sentiment. Labor Pains As shocked as Bella is by her pregnancy, everyone’s reactions are just as dramatic. With one warning from her new father-in-law, Carlisle Cullen — “Your heart will give out before you can deliver” — a chain of events is set into motion. Edward worries his bride won’t survive, and the wolves warn, “We don’t know what they bred. We have to protect the tribe before it’s too late.” Special Delivery With fans clamoring over any footage of the much-discussed labor scene, now they finally get a taste of the pain and turmoil Bella will face as she tries to bring her baby into the world. While it answers that question, it raised another: Just how will “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” end and where will “Part 2” pick up? What’s your favorite part of the trailer? Tell us in the comments! Brad Pitt Relates To ‘David Vs. Goliath’ Story In ‘Moneyball’

‘I certainly feel injustice,’ he tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in “Moneyball” Photo: Columbia Pictures You’d think it’s been a while since Brad Pitt felt anything like an underdog, since those days in the late ’80s when he was pumped just to get a few lines in a TV show like “21 Jump Street” or had to console himself with work as an extra next to then-hot shots like Andrew McCarthy and Jami Gertz. These days, he’s Brad Pitt: Oscar nominee, beloved of Angelina Jolie and … freaking Brad Pitt. But as the actor admitted to MTV News at the Toronto International Film Festival, there are still times when he feels like the world is against him, when he finds himself in a similar situation to the 2002 Oakland Athletics, the small-market Major League Baseball club at the center of his new movie, “Moneyball.” “I certainly feel injustice,” he said. “I’m no foreigner to that, whether it’s real or perceived.” Unjust is certainly the situation the A’s find themselves in the film, which is based on the best-selling nonfiction title by Michael Lewis and which hits theaters September 23. The team had a vastly smaller payroll than other teams but nonetheless was able to rise to the top when general manager Billy Beane (Pitt) employed a newfangled, statistics-based approach to building his roster of players. “These are guys that are working in an unfair game,” Pitt explained. “They are a team with no money trying to fight — it’s David vs. Goliath. How are they going to be competitive? How are they going to stand a chance? They can’t fight the other guys’ fight; they’re going to lose every time. These guys had to rethink it and rethink what they were doing. “They’re Galileo, in a sense, going up against an institution that is not going to be very happy about them questioning their norms,” he added. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer: Experts Pick Favorite Scenes

Honeymoon aftermath, Bella and Jacob’s dance and Bella giving birth all get shout-outs from our superfans. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Now that we’ve finally seen the latest trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” and picked our favorite moments , it’s time that we turn the continued swooning and sighing over to our trusted panel of “Twilight” experts to learn what they loved most about the new sneak peek. “My favorite scene … was the feathers in the bed,” TwilightLexicon.com owner Laura Byrne-Cristiano said of the honeymoon aftermath, featuring a sleepy and happy-looking Bella surrounded by feathers from a torn pillow. “That was a moment I think every fan wanted to be there. I was so happy that it was in the trailer, and we know it’s going to be in the movie. It could have been cheesy, and it looks like it’s going to be fun.” “My favorite scene was the dancing scene with Bella and Jacob,” Kara Hassell of TwilightersAnonymous.com said. “I liked it because we [usually] see a lot of action, especially with Jacob and the wolf pack, so it was nice to see a really serious moment between them. I think that their chemistry is great and they do really well.” Kallie Matthews from TwilightSeriesTheories.com went for the more uncomfortable moment. “There were a lot of favorite moments. This is slightly morbid, but [I liked] actually getting to see parts of the birth scene,” she admitted. “I’ve been so curious about how it’s going to play out. The books are just glimpses, and it seems like the movie is going to be that way too, so I’m really glad that Bill Condon is staying true to that,” she explained. “Like I said, morbid.” What was your favorite scene in the trailer?
