The-Dream Says He Attempted Suicide When Marriage Unraveled

‘I am human, and people fall in and out of love all the time,’ singer/songwriter says. By Jocelyn Vena The-Dream and Christina Milian in 2009 Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images After announcing their split earlier this week, The-Dream wrote an open letter to his fans about his separation from wife Christina Milian . The pair, who were just married in September , reportedly parted ways late last year but didn’t formally announce it until long after the birth of their daughter, Violet, in March . In the statement titled “In My Own Words,” posted on his website , he wrote, “First I want to thank God for the trials of life, without them we can’t know purpose!” While the letter is long, The-Dream said he wouldn’t address the reasons for the split in the statement. “It’s easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT,” said the singer/songwriter, who is rumored to have been unfaithful to Milian. “I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for misleading everyone into thinking everything was fine and okay when we knew problems existed for awhile! I wanted to speak up but we decided it wasn’t for anyone to know. I would NEVER intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that!” he continued. “There was so much going on in me and Christina’s personal world that I tried to deal with it as delicately as I could and tried to regain my footing. Instead of being direct in order not to cause even more hurt or hurt someone’s feelings, I carried the weight in secret!” The-Dream says in the statement that he even attempted suicide over the breakup of his marriage. “This is not to justify anything, it’s true emotion! It’s a real thing that involves real people!” he wrote. “I’ve cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I’ve tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming.” He goes on to defend himself, writing, “I am human, and people fall in and out of love all the time. … This is Life. Nothing’s promised or perfect, neither am I. … I’m sorry for the embarrassment to everyone involved!” He finishes the by quoting his mother and signing his given name, Terius Nash. “But I was reminded by my MOTHER that I am not ‘Superman’ and it’s okay to lose sometimes,” he wrote. “This too shall pass! And everything will be fine!” What do you think of The-Dream’s letter? Tell us in the comments! According to Gossip Cop , the acrobatic enthusiast fell from the harness directly onto a steel barricade; the show ended immediately. I’m in ambulance now but I will b fine.” While exact details regarding what song she was performing at the time have not been released, it is likely she was performing her trapeze/ aerial-silk routine to “Glitter in the Air,” a show-stopping number for which she received a standing ovation at this year’s Grammy Awards. James Franco’s Mom Says the Darndest Things on General Hospital

It finally happened: James Franco found a way to weave his real-life mother, author Betsy Franco , into the weird meta-arc that he has been crafting on General Hospital over the past few months. The sub-arc began yesterday when two of Port Charles’ detectives who were hot on Franco’s trail ventured out to Woodstock, New York to question Karen Anderson, whom they believed birthed the murder artist who has been terrorizing their town. But what they discovered inside Karen’s cozy, statue-cluttered home turned out to be much, much worse.

A Gillette child mutilation case resurfaces after 20 years – Mom charged in kids’ mutilation may get freedom

Wyoming State Hospital officials have asked a judge to transfer a Gillette woman who beheaded and mutilated her young children to a supervised residential program. Laura Lee Rice has spent the past 20 years at a mental institution in Evanston after being found criminally insane. Prosecutors say Rice, a 58-year-old schizophrenic, killed her daughters because she believed they were clones of her real children. In 1989, the decapitated bodies of 15-month-old Danielle and 4-month-old JoAnn were found in Rice’s home at the Hitching Post Trailer Court south of Gillette. She had stuffed the children’s bodies in plastic bags. Later that year, Rice was found not guilty by reason of mental illness of two counts of first-degree murder. She was sent to the state hospital and has remained there ever since. Last month, the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office filed a motion on the state hospital’s behalf for Rice’s conditional discharge. In a letter filed in District Court, hospital officials urged Judge John R. Perry to place Rice in a less restrictive setting like a group home or an apartment on the hospital’s campus. Hospital superintendant Robert Stahl and psychiatric nurse practitioner Jamie Bennett wrote that Rice would have to check in with staff throughout the day to make sure she is taking her medications. She would be allowed to attend therapy groups and work in the hospital’s library, but “there is no intention for Ms. Rice to have unsupervised access into the community,” Stahl and Bennett wrote. They note that Rice has not shown any sign of violent behavior since being institutionalized and say she has a low risk of re-offending. “Ms. Rice has been engaged in her recovery process and deemed ready to progress to the next level of privileges,” Stahl and Bennett wrote. They point out that Rice at one time lived in an on-campus apartment but was moved to an in-patient facility because of a policy change requiring patients to get court approval before moving into supervised housing. A motion hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 21 in District Court. It is not the first time that Rice has petitioned the court for her release. Court records show she filed a motion for discharge in 1998. District Judge Dan R. Price II denied her request after ruling that she “has not recovered from her mental illness and that she continues to be a substantial risk to others and cannot be adequately controlled if released on supervision.” Rice suffers from Capgras syndrome, a schizophrenic condition where one believes close relatives have been replaced by evil clones. Doctors who examined Rice said she complained of chronic pain in her neck, chest and stomach, which she said was caused by the clones “taking bites out of her body with their eyes.” Rice asked for the results of a CAT scan and chest X-rays taken after she was arrested to see if parts of her were missing. She also wanted to know if pieces of her were found in her daughters’ stomachs. Rice’s older daughter had small cuts around her legs, hands and eyes — all made after she had been beheaded. The other daughter was scalped and her ears were cut off. Her right little toe had been severed a few days before she was murdered. At trial, a psychiatrist testified that the post-death cutting was an attempt by Rice to see if the children were clones. When she took the stand, Rice said a dark-haired woman wearing glasses knocked on her door the morning of the murders. The woman was with two children who looked like Rice’s daughters. She claims the woman told her she had to get rid of them. After the woman left, Rice and the girls laid down for a nap. When she got up to check on her daughters, Rice said “it had already been done. Their throat(s) had already been cut.” Prosecutors have said she had a history of drug abuse and occasionally drifted into different personalities such as “Cindy,” “Sherry” and “Patty.” A few days before the murders, she told the girls’ father that she felt like her head was splitting — that she had no brain. She asked him to take her to the hospital but he didn’t. http://www.gillettenewsrecord.com/articles/2010/07/05/news/yesterday/news03.txt added by: MotherForTruth

‘Inception’: The Early Reviews Are In!

‘Leonardo DiCaprio finds the tortured center of his character,’ one reviewer writes. By Eric Ditzian Leonardo DiCaprio in “Inception” Photo: Warner Bros. Almost one year ago, the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” hit the web. It featured acrobatic fight sequences, hallucinatory imagery, and left us with far more questions than answers. Just what the heck was this movie really about, anyway? In the months that followed, Nolan slowly peeled back the curtain to reveal peeks at his top-secret follow-up to 2008’s “The Dark Knight.” Now, with the movie’s July 16 release date approaching, “Inception” has been fully unveiled to industry insiders, and the first reviews are beginning to pop up online. Here’s what folks are saying about the flick. The Story “Leonardo DiCaprio plays Cobb, an expert in what the film calls extraction, the theft of secrets or information from the subconscious mind,” Todd Gilchrist wrote in Cinematical.com . After botching a job thanks to the intrusion of his wife Mal (Marion Cotillard), Cobb finds an unlikely opportunity for redemption from one of his former victims: Saito (Ken Watanabe), CEO of a flourishing multinational, offers him amnesty in exchange for planting an idea — known as inception — within the mind of Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy), one of Saito’s competitors. Enlisting the help of teammates Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Ariadne (Ellen Page), Eames (Tom Hardy), and Yusuf (Dileep Rao), Cobb reluctantly agrees to the mission, only to discover that the mind’s defenses are more formidable than any physical threat he could face. Heist-movie plot details notwithstanding, the above description scarcely scratches at the surface of what’s in the film, and certainly reveals nothing of the deeper conceptual and thematic dimensions of its story.” The Look “Shot across four continents by Nolan’s regular d.p., Wally Pfister, and outfitted by production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas, ‘Inception’ is easily the director’s most visually unbridled work,” Justin Chang wrote in Variety. “Its canvas stretches from the skyscrapers of Tokyo to the bazaars of Tangiers, from an amber-lit hotel corridor to a snowy mountain compound (a setpiece that plays like an homage to ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’). Pic has arresting effects and images to spare, such as the sight of Paris folding in on itself like a book or Gordon-Levitt’s Arthur performing a fight scene in zero gravity (the explanation for which is even more dazzling).” The Performances “DiCaprio finds the tortured center of his character, a man who is part thief and part spy and whose own guilt-ridden subconscious stands to destroy his chances of succeeding at the proverbial one last job,” Jim Vejvoda wrote in IGN.com . ” ‘Inception’ is sort of a companion piece in a way to ‘Shutter Island,’ the year’s other mind-bender DiCaprio thriller. Gordon-Levitt — who, like DiCaprio, was a child sitcom actor — continues to prove he’s one of the brightest up-and-coming dramatic actors with his turn here. And although she has less screen time than the rest of the cast, Cotillard shines as the film’s closest thing to a femme fatale.” The “Matrix” Comparison “[T]here’s a sort of ‘Matrix’ action movie vibe about the [marketing] campaign, and despite some wild visual moments in the film, I wouldn’t describe this as an action film at all,” Drew McWeeny wrote in HitFix.com . “There are action beats in it, but all of them are ultimately in service of the emotional journey that Dom takes in the film, and as a result, the stakes seem so much higher than they would if it was just another movie where people were chasing around some empty Macguffin. Everything in this film … cities folding in on themselves, buildings filling with sudden floods of water, gravity that stops working, reality fraying at the edges … ties back in to whatever happened between Dom and his wife Mal years ago.” The Bottom Line “Following up on such ingenious and intriguing films as ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Memento,’ Nolan has outdone himself,” Kirk Honeycutt wrote in The Hollywood Reporter. ” ‘Inception’ puts him not only at the top of the heap of sci-fi all-stars, but it also should put this Warner Bros. release near or at the top of the summer movies. It’s very hard to see how a film that plays so winningly to so many demographics would not be a worldwide hit.” Are you excited to see “Inception”? Sound off in the comments below! Madina Lake Bassist Released From Hospital, Still Faces Brain Surgery

‘So we’d finally convinced the doctors to let me take Matthew home,’ brother and bandmate Nathan Leone posted on the band’s blog. By James Montgomery Matthew Leone of Medina Lake Photo: Jay West/ WireImage Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone — who was beaten and left unconscious last week after attempting to intervene in a domestic dispute — has been sent home from the hospital in Chicago, but still faces an uphill battle (including a second round of brain surgery) before he’ll be in the clear. That’s according to his twin brother and Madina Lake frontman, Nathan Leone, who took to the band’s blog on Monday to update fans on Matthew’s condition. “So we’d finally convinced the doctors to let me take Matthew home. He was going nuts in the hospital and they agreed that he would benefit from a more comfortable environment,” Nathan wrote. “The only goal at this point is [to] get him strong enough for his second brain surgery, which is scheduled for the 16th. “It’s going to be a tenuous couple of weeks, we’ll watch him 24 hours a day, make sure he sits still, rests and heals to the fullest extent possible,” the post continued. “We know from the doctors that his future prognosis remains guarded, since the permanency of the physical and neuropsychological damage is yet unknown.” As Nathan Leone told MTV News last week, his brother suffered a broken jaw and nose and a fractured skull after he attempted to break up a fight between a man and a woman on the streets of Chicago. As Leone called police, he was jumped from behind and left bleeding and unconscious. The beating was so severe, Nathan said, that doctors were forced to remove one-third of his brother’s skull to alleviate swelling on the brain. Chicago police have subsequently arrested 33-year-old Justin Pivec in connection with the attack, charging him with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to Leone and battery for the attack on his wife. And while Matthew Leone slowly recovers from the beating, his medical bills continue to pile up. According to Nathan Leone, neither he nor his brother has health insurance, and so, in order to help with their mounting bills, Madina Lake’s management have partnered with the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and Pledge Music to begin accepting donations on Matthew Leone’s behalf. Porn film shot in London hospital

A “big budget” porn film has been shot in a London hospital, one of it's wards was hired out to a film company. Tory MP Penny Mordaunt said the movie generated “substantial income” for the hospital NHS Kensington and Chelsea said the incident occurred before 2002 when the primary care trust formed. Penny Mordaunt stated, “When I was director of Kensington and Chelsea Council, I discovered that one of our local hospitals was hiring out one of its closed – but fully-equipped wards – to a film company to use as a film set,” “To add insult to injury, the movie was a pornographic one. “Although I cannot claim to have seen the final picture – as I understand, these things are no longer claimable on parliamentary expenses – it was a big-budget affair and generated substantial income for the hospital.” “But apart from cheering up a few of the in-patients, it cannot be said to be contributing to the objectives of the primary care trust.” – BBC Kensington and Chelsea council have not commented on the story http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1292427/NHS-hospital-ward-closed-film-bi… added by: sarahmatilda

V.A. Hospital May Have Infected 1,812 Veterans with HIV

VA hospital may have infected 1,800 veterans with HIV By the CNN Wire Staff June 30, 2010 1:44 a.m. EDT (CNN) — A Missouri VA hospital is under fire because it may have exposed more than 1,800 veterans to dangerous viruses like hepatitis and HIV. John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis has recently mailed letters to 1,812 veterans telling them they could contract hepatitis B, hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after visiting the medical center for dental work, said Rep. Russ Carnahan. Carnahan said Tuesday he is calling for a investigation into the issue and has sent a letter to President Obama about it. “This is absolutely unacceptable,” said Carnahan, a Democrat from Missouri. “No veteran who has served and risked their life for this great nation should have to worry about their personal safety when receiving much needed healthcare services from a Veterans Administration hospital.” The issue stems from a failure to clean dental instruments properly, the hospital told CNN affiliate KSDK. KSDK: VA dental patients at risk of infection Dr. Gina Michael, the association chief of staff at the hospital, told the affiliate that some dental technicians broke protocol by handwashing tools before putting them in cleaning machines. The instruments were supposed to only be put in the cleaning machines, Michael said. The handwashing started in February 2009 and went on until March of this year, the hospital told KSDK. The hospital has set up a special clinic and education centers to help patients who may have been infected. However, Carnahan said he feels more should be done and those responsible should be disciplined. “I can only imagine the horror and anger our veterans must be feeling after receiving this letter,” Carnahan said. “They have every right to be angry. So am I.” This is not the first time this year a hospital has been in hot water for not following proper procedures. In June, Palomar Hospital in San Diego, California, has sent certified letters to 3,400 patients who underwent colonoscopy and other similar procedures, informing the patients that there may be a potential of infection from items used and reused in the procedures.
