Frank Davis, who is the president and CEO of the Horizon Group experienced some pretty awful racism while staying at the Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota with his family. Davis and his son Michael left the hotel to have breakfast and go shopping and returned to the room to find the hateful note left inside a lamp next to the bed, ABC News affiliate WWSB reported. “You’re a n—-r,” the note read. “This is something in 2018 you don’t expect this kind of thing to happen,” he told WWSB. Davis reported the note to the hotel’s general manager and filed a report with local police. Art Ovation offered the Davises a free night’s stay but they opted to leave the property because they feared for their lives. “Who knows what other kind of actions that individual who clearly knew we were there was capable of,” Davis said. “Which is why we decided to relocate and find additional lodging for the remainder of our stay.” Art Ovation general manager Matthew Simone issued an apology to the Davis family and added that “allegations such as this are very concerning to us.” The hotel is investigating the incident. This is just crazy. What kind of person does something like this? Would you have changed hotels too?

This may send chills down your spine. It should. A woman tweeted about a horrifying poem — written to a hauntingly familiar tune — that she saw posted on the wall of her child’s future classroom. It’s to prepare for lockdowns in the event of a school shooting. On Tuesday, June 5, Somerville Schools posted on Facebook: “Tomorrow is Kindergarten Transition Day, when incoming Kindergarteners spend he day visiting their new school and learning about Kindergarten.” That is not uncommon for schools, especially elementary schools that have any sort of partnership with specific pre-K programs or facilities. Parents come in for a sort of open house experience. At some of these events, preschoolers who are soon to be rising kindergarteners are able to see and visualize their future. Everything is so new when you are 4 or 5 years old, so being able to see a classroom in advance can make your future less daunting. Unfortunately, the experience caused quite a fright for a parent after she saw this hanging in a classroom. To the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” or “The ABC Song,” or “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” read: “Lockdown, lockdown, lock the door.” Yikes. “Shut the lights off, say no more.” A chorus of children’s voices singing this sounds like the intro to a horror movie. “Get behind the desk and hide. Wait until it’s safe inside.” Holy f–k. “Lockdown, lockdown, it’s all done. Now it’s time to have some fun.” Awful. Some commenters tried to comment that this might be for tornado drills, too. But it is not. Tornado drills send children into hallways, and do not require turning off the lights or remaining silent. This is to prepare children to hide and fear for their lives in the event of a shooting. Georgy Cohen, the mother who shared the image, which of course went viral as people saw it and blanched with horror, wrote: “This should not be hanging in my soon-to-be-kindergartener’s classroom.” Referring to her child as “Z,” which is a tasteful way of discussing your child in a public space, Cohen says: “Yeah. They already do the drills in pre K. Z was excited about it as a game to see if you can stay quiet for ‘one whole minute.'” To children, death is usually an abstract concept. And it very much should be. For parents and other adults, who can fully understand the creeping dread of a society that allows its most vulnerable citizens to be in so much danger on a daily basis, this really hits home. To be clear, she is not in any way condemning the school or the teacher who wrote the song. “I’m only going to add one more comment to this:” As you can imagine, her mentions on Twitter were blowing up. “The school is doing exactly what they need to be doing, and I am glad for it.” A rhyming song with a familiar tune is great for teaching children to remember simple instructions. “My issue is with the political & cultural factors that brought us to this sad state.” Yep . She specifically refers to America’s gun culture and the lack of political action. “Please talk to your legislators about the need for gun reform.” The tweet’s viral popularity was astonishing. This rhyme was a real shock to the system — which is good, because these horrors should never be normalized. Many people who have a tweet blow up try to garner attention to a personal passion, such as their SoundCloud. Cohen writes: “So I don’t have a SoundCloud but I, like most of you, have congressional representatives I can call to advocate for gun reform https://www. callmycongress.com / Or we can support orgs like @Everytown and @SandyHook.” That is sound advice. Asia Argento is the latest celebrity to speak out about the stunning suicide of Anthony Bourdain . But Argento’s words carry more weight than most others… because she had been dating the celebrity chef at the time of his tragic death. As previously reported, Bourdain killed himself this week while on location in France for an episode of his CNN series, Parts Unknown. He was found unresponsive in his hotel room by close friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert, with multiple outlets writing since tha Bourdain hanged himself. This is what CNN said in a statement that confirmed the awful news: It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. “His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.” Now, hours after this suicide was made public, Argento has briefly opened up about her boyfriend of several months. Wrote the actress on Twitter: “Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did. “His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds. “He was my love, my rock, my protector. I am beyond devastated. “My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine.” Argento and Bourdin did not publicize their romance very much, but the latter spoke out in praise and admiration of the former last year amidst the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal because Asia was one of the first women who accused the movie producer of rape. The actress and the late chef met on an episode of Parts Unknown that was filmed in Rome and started dating last year. Bourdain’s death has sent shockwaves through Hollywood. It took place just three days after designer Kate Spade also committed suicide ; also via hanging. French police have to People Magazine that Bourdain and Ripert were in France together while filming an installment of Bourdain’s award-winning series — and Ripert has now also issued a statement in the wake of this tragedy. It reads as follows: Anthony was a dear friend. He was an exceptional human being, so inspiring and generous. One of the great storytellers of our time who connected with so many. I wish him peace. My love and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones. Bourdain leaves behind an 11-year old daughter. His best-selling memoir, “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly,” led to his first television show on The Food Network, which eventually led to Parts Unknown premiering on CNN in 2013. Kanye West should just go ahead and pose naked at this point. Are we dying to see the rapper’s most private of parts? No. But if the artist is looking to make headlines and garner attention, he’d be far better served at this point to just follow the lead of wife Kim Kardashian … … as opposed to doing all the nauseating nonsense he’s been doing for the last several weeks. It all started shortly after West confirmed he had a pair of albums coming out this summer. From there, he returned to Twitter and rambled on and on about making America great again, while making his affectionfor President Donald Trump well known to all. Then, he said black people chose to be slaves . We figured this was the lowest point to which Kanye could sink, and some may understandably argue that is remains the case. However, such an asinine comment was not personal in the way his latest actions are personal. To what are we referring? West actually went ahead recently and paid $85,000 for a photo that depicted Whitney Houston’s bathroom on the day she died of a drug overdose. (The iconic singer’s body was found in the bathtub of her hotel room on February 11, 2012.) The disturbing snapshot features a sink and vanity area covered in drug-covered spoons and drug paraphernalia. Why would Kanye want this haunting image? Because he used it as the cover photo for for Pusha T’s album “DAYTONA.” Gross, right? Houston’s cousin, Damon Elliott, certainly thinks so. “To do something for a publicity stunt to sell records, it’s absolutely disgusting,” Elliott tells People Magazine of the photo, adding: “It hurt my family and my daughter. It’s petty. It’s tacky.” Yeah. We can easily see why. Elliott actually worked with Kanye on a Keyshia Cole track and said he was stunned to learn the musician made this decision. “I’ve watched the train wreck happening, but I didn’t think he’d go this far in invading someone’s family privacy,” says Elliott, referencing West’s recent rants and raves on social media. Elliott wants West to apologize and to replace the inappropriate album cover. And if Kanye ever calls and the two can chat? What would Whitney’s cousin say? What were you thinking? Did you think this through? And if you did, why did you do this? Because you’re hurting people. It knocked the wind out of me last night.
