Earlier this week, Bette Midler called Ariana Grande a “whore.”  No really, that happened. The 68-year-old music legend offered some career advice to the 21-year-old pop princess by basically telling her to put some clothes on and stop humping furniture in her music videos. Not surprisingly, Ari was less than thrilled with Bette’s unsolicited pro tips. In fact, sources claimed Ariana is a huge fan of Bette’s , and that she was shocked by the insults, as she always saw herself as following in Midler’s footsteps.  Ari is known for her hot temper, and were fans braced for a full-blown War of the Divas. Sadly, when Grande finally responded to Bette’s comments on Twitter last night, she took the high road in admirable fashion: “Bette has always been a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judment,” Ari tweeted. “Not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back! Always a fan no matter what my love, and I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao.”  Oooooh, snap! Not only did Ari play the feminist card, she also played the seldom-used “Remember when you used to jiggle your things for the whole world?” card.  Seriously though, Bette’s gotta be a little embarrassed that she just got out-classed by a woman who’s 47 years (!) her junior, and whom she just ragged on for her supposed lack of decorum. Yesterday, music legend Bette Midler slammed Ariana Grande for her skimpy attire and overtly sexual music videos. While discussing Ari’s public image, Midler even went so far as to say, “You don’t need to make a whore of yourself to get ahead.” The OD (Original Diva) certainly went too far in her criticism, but anyone who’s seen Ariana’s “Love Me Harder” video (So much writhing!) can certainly see how it might not appeal to an old-school songstress in her late 60s. Of course, when Ms. Midler first hit the music scene nearly fifty years ago, she was just another young dreamer willing to do whatever it took to make her stage show stand out. This occasionally involved the use of provocative costumes and suggestive lyrics. So yeah, there’s a bit of pot-kettle-black hypocrisy going on, and that fact is reportedly not lost on Ari: Sources close to Grande tell TMZ the pint-sized pop star was outraged when she learned of Midler’s comments. The insiders claim Ariana was especially pissed because she often takes her career cues from Bette! Midler was arguably as well known for her ribald persona as for her music in the early years of her career. Bette was one of the first modern singers to specialize in risque performances at gay-friendly venues – a practice that Ariana paid homage to when she performed for free at a a gay club after her recent SNL performance. Another day, another Ariana Grande diva rumor , which is quickly becoming the celebrity gossip go-to on a slow day. But as always, we ask: Is there any truth to it? This time, it comes from the folks at Marie Claire . The story goes that Ariana was scheduled to do a shoot for the women’s mag, but like the pint-sized prima donna that she is, she showed up late and proceeded to act like a “monster.” Yes! Fear the Petite Monster in the Plaid Skirt!! The source didn’t go into much detail. For Lauren Conrad, the hills are now alive with the sound of wedding bells. That’s right, the former MTV reality star is married! LC and William Tell exchanged vows on Saturday in an intimate California ceremony, insiders confirm to Us Weekly. They were surrounded by close friends and family members. “What a perfect way to start our lives together; surrounded by the people we love most,” Conrad and Tell said via statement. Conrad and Tell went on a Valentine’s Day blind date after being up by mutual friends in 2012. No pressure there, huh?!? They then got engaged in October of last year. “William and I are overwhelmed by all of your warm wishes,” Conrad wrote at the time. “Thank you so much for sharing in this special moment :-).” Tell graduated from law school at the University of Southern California in May and Conrad celebrated her bachelorette party in Cabo a month later. David Haines Executed By ISIS; Aid Worker’s Death Condemned Internationally

Islamic State militants released a video Saturday showing the beheading of aid worker David Haines, the latest in a disturbing series of such executions. David Haines Killed By ISIS The 44-year-old Haines, who was British, was abducted in Syria in 2013 while working for an international aid agency. His whereabouts had been unknown. The British government had kept the kidnapping secret out of concern for his safety until another video was recently released by Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL. ISIS’ video identified him as a captive, showing him in an orange jumpsuit and calling out Prime Minister David Cameron personally for his soon-to-be beheading. The British Foreign Office had said late Saturday that it was “working urgently to verify the video,” but Cameron’s statement left little room for ambiguity: “The murder of David Haines is an act of pure evil. My heart goes out to his family who have shown extraordinary courage and fortitude.” “We will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes,” Cameron added. President Barack Obama commented that “The United States strongly condemns the barbaric murder of UK citizen David Haines by the terrorist group ISIL.” British Aid Worker Killed, Video Posted By ISIS “Our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Haines and to the people of the United Kingdom. Mayim Bialik to Ariana Grande: Why You Hoeing?

Mayim Bialik is not a fan of Ariana Grande. Specifically the billboards around town promoting the singer’s new album, and in Bialik’s view, sex and lots of it. As she shared on her Kveller blog on Friday, the self-proclaimed “old-fashioned” actress is not a fan of ads such as this, especially because of her children. “There is one for Ariana Grande, and I will go ahead and admit I have no idea who she is or what she does,” the 38-year-old mother of sons ages 6 and 9 wrote. “Based on the billboard, she sells lingerie. Or stiletto heels. Or plastic surgery, because every woman over 22 wishes she has that body, I’m sure.” “Why is she in her underwear on this billboard though? And if she has a talent (is she a singer?), then why does she have to sell herself in lingerie?” “I mean, I know society is patriarchal and women are expected to be sexy and sexually available no matter what we do, but I guess now I need to explain that to my sons?” The billboard (below) is actually for Ariana’s new album, My Everything , which hit shelves late last month using that same image of Grande on its cover: “Am I a crotchety old lady?” Mayim, one of the smartest celebrities in Hollywood, added. “I guess so. But I just don’t understand why this is what ads need to look like…” “Why do I have to be okay with young women literally in lingerie on gigantic billboards? If I want to see women in lingerie, I can walk through any mall with a Victoria’s Secret.” The former Blossom cast member would probably cringe to learn that Ariana is actually more talented and conservative than most when it comes to this sort of this. This doesn’t diminish her point, though, because it’s hard not to look at the image above (or the Ariana Grande photos below), and not notice her looks. What do you think? Has society gone overboard with ads such as these? It’s not Ariana alone who Mayim has beef with here, either. Not by a long shot. Bialik also called out a Masters of Sex billboard: “Seriously? How am I supposed to explain those to my kids? Especially my older son who can read?” Levi’s jeans ads, too, the 38-year-old actress says, are “basically people groping each other as foreplay and undressing each other while making out.” Finally, there’s a billboard showing a young girl “flipping the bird.” According to her blog, it’s an ad “for a new show about teenagers in school or something.” She’s not a fan of any of the above, but you watch The Big Bang Theory online and that probably won’t offend her. She actually made this point on Twitter, calling out the alleged Ariana Grande nude photos as fake and saying that people ogling them need to find Jesus. As a parting shot, she added that her lil ass is way cuter than whoever that chick is. How undeniably true. Check out these new snaps she just posted on Instagram: The 21-year-old sang the National Anthem at the NFL season opener last night in Seattle, and absolutely crushed her performance, to the surprise of no one. Now that an eagle-eyed MTV cameraman caught Big Sean and Ariana Grande holding hands and basically confirmed that they’re dating, there’s no sense hiding it. Case in point: He’s giving her a very public shout-out! The rapper took to Instagram to congratulate his girlfriend on the success of her new album My Everything, which hit stores right after the 2014 MTV VMAs . “Ari’s #1 in 80 countries! So great when good things happen to good people. I’m more than proud of you…” Sean wrote along with a photo of the album cover. Ariana and Sean have been heating up since breaking up with Jai Brooks and Naya Rivera, respectively, and working together on her song “Best Mistake.” He’s also the infamous whispering voice on “Problem.” “They have been friends since they made the song together,” a source said. “They have been spending more time together and recently have been getting very close.” The ” Bang Bang ” singer and Sean are “doing great.” The hot couple seemingly confirmed their romance Sunday during the aforementioned holding of hands, and Sean’s Instagram post erases any doubt.
