Ellen Pompeo is having a moment. Ellen Pompeo has actually been having a whole bunch of moments over a whole bunch of years… and she’s here to remind you about them. The veteran actress has given a very revealing interview to The Hollywood Reporter in which she delves into a number of issues, from sexism … to her future on Grey’s Anatomy… to her opinion of Patrick Dempsey. And let’s just tease the final point with this: Pompeo does not appear to think very highly of her former co-star. For starters, Pompeo said Dempsey’s decision to leave the series in 2015 was a “defining” moment for her in terms of contract negotiations. We’ll let her explain why: “[ABC] could always use him as leverage against me – ‘We don’t need you; we have Patrick’ – which they did for years,” she explains, holding nothing back and adding: “I don’t know if they also did that to him, because he and I never discussed our deals. There were many times where I reached out about joining together to negotiate, but he was never interested in that. “At one point, I asked for $5,000 more than him just on principle, because the show is Grey’s Anatomy and I’m Meredith Grey. “They wouldn’t give it to me. And I could have walked away, so why didn’t I? It’s my show; I’m the number one. I’m sure I felt what a lot of these other actresses feel: “Why should I walk away from a great part because of a guy? You feel conflicted but then you figure, “I’m not going to let a guy drive me out of my own house.'” Pretty interesting, huh? It doesn’t sound like Dempsey was interesting in joining forces with his long-time colleague. This is in opposition, let’s say, to back in the day when the entire cast of Friends refused to film unless they also received the same pay raise. Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd was eventually written off the show… but it wasn’t long until Martin Henderson was added to the cast as a new love interest. “So, what does it look like when he leaves the show?” Pompeo asks, elaborating as follows: “First, it looks like a ratings spike, and I had a nice chuckle about that. But the truth is, the ink wasn’t even dry on his exit papers before they rushed in a new guy. “I was on vacation in Sicily, decompressing – it was a long working relationship and it was a tumultuous end and I needed a moment to just chill with some rosé – and they’re calling me, going, “What do you think of this guy?” “What do you think of this guy?” “And they’re sending pictures. “I was like, “Are you people f-cking nuts? Why do you feel that you have to replace this person?” “I couldn’t believe how fast the studio and the network felt like they had to get a penis in there. We brought in Martin Henderson, but they didn’t love the storyline, so that ended.” Again: interesting stuff, huh? Through all of the many cast changes on Grey’s Anatomy, Pomeo remains. And she isn’t going anywhere any time soon: The star just signed a new, two-year deal that will pay her approximately $20 million per year. This pretty much guarantees Grey’s Anatomy will stay on the air at least through Season 16. To conclude her cover story with The Hollywood Reporter, Pompeo turned her attention to the #MeToo movement and the ongoing shift in Hollywood. She’s proud of everything going on at the moment and she hopes she can play a role in it. “I don’t believe the only solution is more women in power, because power corrupts,” says Pompeo. “It’s not necessarily a man or a woman thing. But there should be more of us women in power, and not just on Shonda Rhimes’ sets. “Look, I only have a 12th-grade education and I wasn’t a great student, but I’ve gotten an education here at Shondaland. “And now my 8-year-old daughter gets to come here and see fierce females in charge. She loves to sit in the director’s chair with the headphones on yelling “Action” and “Cut.” “She’s growing up in an environment where she’s completely comfortable with power. “I don’t know any other environment in Hollywood where I could provide that for her. When you have a group as divided as the one on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, it’s difficult to imagine what will happen at the reunion. On The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 8 Episode 14 , Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Siggy Flicker, Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs and Danielle Staub assembled to break down their thoughts on the tumultuous season of drama. As always, it all seemed friendly when the episode kicked off, and Margaret was quick to reveal that Joe’s kids watch the show, but they still do not want anything to do with her. You could tell that was difficult for her, but the whole situation for her seemed bizarre because, well, she left the father of the children and expected them to continue as though everything was normal. “The only genuine thing you’ve said to me this season is that you are trying to destroy me,” Margaret said to Siggy with a wealthy dose of side-eye, but Siggy continued to act like Margaret was out to her. Margaret did admit that both of them were as bad as each other, but Siggy continued to act like she was the main attraction of the cast and that Margaret was nothing more than a vile peasant. Margaret defended her stance about Soggy gate. She said it was about Siggy’s behavior and not to trash her medical condition. Andy chimed in, saying that Siggy was selling merchandise the “Soggy” at her retreat. Siggy countered that she turns negatives into positives. We think the more probable cause is she turns anything into a profit. Margaret closed off her trash talk of Siggy by saying that her blaming her erratic behavior on menopause was “victimizing.” In the most random topic change ever, Siggy yelled at Margaret that her husband shot a bear like “Elmer Fudd.” The conversation switched to whether there would be changes for Teresa and Joe when they get to get back together. “I guess when he comes home, he has a lot of making up to do. I was hurt, and a lot of anger came out,” she said. However, Andy questioned whether Teresa would move to Italy with Joe if he was deported and she said the following: “Whatever God has planned for me, that’s what will happen,” she declared. Yeah, there was something off about it. Maybe the rumors about Teresa having a new man are correct. Andy then quizzed the ladies about the great big cake fight that kicked off the season. Melissa was mad that Siggy ridiculed her multiple times about it, and felt like she needed to dial it back. “It was humiliating. I was embarrassed,” Melissa said while glaring at Siggy. Tensions took a turn for the worse when Kim D was introduced to the stage. “I guess they let the animal out of the cage,” Teresa snapped before adding, ” “I thought this was The Real Housewives of New Jersey, not Tales from the Crypt.” Andy told Teresa not to move off the couch. Teresa wanted to slap Kim D around the stage. Let’s face it, Kim has been vile to everyone. What did you think of the drama? Getty Images Ryan Hawaii Goes Viral For Wearing 10 Layers Of Clothes At Airport A British man recently went viral after he decided to avoid baggage fees in a creative way. Ryan Williams a.k.a. “Ryan Hawaii” was held at Iceland Keflavik airport because he decided to wear every article of clothing he couldn’t fit in his checked bag. The clothing turned out to be eight pairs of pants and 10 shirts. According to The Daily Mail , Williams was reportedly trying to avoid additional baggage fees and at first, claimed that British Airlines was racial profiling him by not letting him board. @British_Airways hi being held at Iceland Keflavik airport because I had no baggage put all the clothes on and they still won't let me on. White House Doctor Ronny Jackson gave the press an update on Trump’s health and concluded that he was in perfect health. Trump achieved a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (Moca), a test that screens for illnesses such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. I watched the Obama / Letterman interview because I don’t own a TV, and I don’t leave the house thanks to winter, and years ago, I used to watch letterman all the time, it was on TV, and I felt he ultimately didn’t give a fuck about the celebs he was interviewing, which I apprecaited…but that could just be selective memory, since I don’t remember much… Obviously, the Obama interview wasn’t all that exciting, but it was a nice reminder, as a Canadian, that the USA was pretty progressive for a while, they had a president with some real fucking swag…just cool and put together….well spoken and charismatic…and it was nice to see, or be reminded of, after dealing with all the media attention your politics get…. It was also inspiring because you aren’t all a bunch of shit head closed minded racists, a good thing, with clips of the 1950s Selma bridge walk that was just insane…because racism, especially from your president, is fucking crazy….it’s upsetting…it’s disgusting… On Martin Luther King day and beyond…So what better way to celebrate progress, the future, or what the Obamas represent, than his daughter in a bikini.. I don’t think she’s 18, not the pot smoking college aged one, so don’t look too closely….All these girls of all ages wearing bikinis….like they are 18…even when they aren’t….because bikinis are racy and inappropriate…almost porno when looked at by most perverts…especially white bikinis…the internet is a bad place for bad people…. But she is a political hero, your FIRST child, a year after they are out of your life, apparently…doing just FINE….celebrating FREEDOM…the right way. The real question is – where are the parents, I want some Michelle Obama up in a bikini right next to her, cuz she’s FINE.
