Major political news has taken the nation by storm. The Republican Party was forced to pull the plug on the American Health Care Act Friday after lacking enough votes to clear the House floor, forcing Paul Ryan and Donald Trump to admit that Obamacare will remain the law of the land. What? Huh? No. Well… yes. That happened. But it’s not the major political story we’re tracking here at The Hollywood Gossip. In a far more important breaking development, United States Senator Cory Booker has asked comedic actress Mindy Kaling out on a date! It all started when the New Jersey native playfully chided Kaling’s alter ego – Dr. Mindy Lahiri on Hulu’s The Mindy Project – for poking fun at his hometown of Newark on her series. “I guess anything to get out of Newark, huh?” the character joked in a recent episode about Booker’s attendance at a party. In response, the outspoken and good-humored politician quoted the scene on Twitter and wrote “Ouch!” He also linked to a Vogue article that referenced an infusion of new restaurants in the area that offer “a fusion of American comfort food with an Indian twist.” As you can see below, Booker wasn’t too angry over the snub, writing that he still loves Kaling. Kaling, who portrays an obstetrician on the sitcom and who rose to fame on The Office, took note of Booker’s flirtation and responded as follows: “Senator, if Mindy Lahiri shades it, it means we know it’s cool. Thanks for the [love]. It’s mutual!” From there, BOOKER ASKED KALING OUT ON A DATE! “You are making my day!” gushed the 47-year old single senator, adding: “Thanks for the clarification. And If the [love] is really mutual… Come have dinner with me in Newark?” Clearly smitten, Kaling said yes, saying she had to go find the “train schedule” so she could make her way from New York City to New Jersey. Adding to the incredibleness of this entire exchange, the official Twitter account for the train that takes folks from The Big Apple to its neighboring state (known as the PATH train) proceeded to get involved: “PATH train is awesome when you are Jersey bound,” Booker Tweeted to Kaling. “But you are @Lyft worthy! I will send one to you for the door to door.” There’s nothing about this story that isn’t completely awesome and amazing. Tragically, we’re left hanging at the moment because Kaling has not responded to Booker’s Lyft offer. But she has to accept, right? Booker is considered a strong candidate to run for President in 2020. And with Donald Trump’s approval ratings at historically low levels, you would think the Democratic nominee ought to have a real shot at winning the White House in a few years. This means there’s a chance that Mindy Kaling could be First Lady. A good chance? Probably not. But there really is a chance. And that’s a lot more than we could have said about the situation just a few hours ago.

Lena Dunham would really like people to stop talking about her weight loss . But, first, Lena Dunham would like to talk about her weight loss. Appearing as a guest today on Ellen, the actress was greeted with some very kind words from the host. “You look fantastic. You look really good,” Ellen DeGeneres told the 30-year-old TV star, adding of Dunham and some recent chatter that's been surrounding her: “You always look great, but I know that you got a lot of flack for losing weight, which is ridiculous.” It certainly is the case that Dunham has shed quite a few pounds. She's joked in the past that the Donald Trump Diet (i.e. not eating due to never-ending fear, anger and nausea) is responsible for this revamped figure, but she turned serious in her interview with Ellen. “It's just so crazy because I spent six years of my career being called things like 'bag of milk' on the internet – 'bag of milk,' 'baby cow,' 'aging cow.' I just never felt self-conscious about it,” Dunham said on the show. She continued: “I was like, 'Anyone who is going to take the time to say something negative about my weight on the internet isn't someone I was particularly keen to impress anyway.' Then I had this experience of my body changing. “Suddenly I got all these people saying, 'You're a hypocrite. I thought you were body positive. I thought you were a person who embraced body types of all sizes.' “I do. I just understand that bodies change. We live a long time. Things happen.” Slammed for her weight and then bashed for her weight loss, Dunham arrives at one conclusion in the following video: “As a woman in Hollywood, you just can't win.” Do you agree with her? Sometimes it seems like Khloe Kardashian just can’t catch a break. Sure, she’s got more money than she knows what to do with, she has a big, loving family, she has her pick of basically any professional athlete she could possibly want. But with all of those pros, there are a good few cons: her marriage to Lamar Odom failed , she had to watch him nearly die, and they were never able to have children together, despite trying. And on top of all that, Khloe may be ruining her vagina. Earlier this month, Khloe took to her app to share a list of items and activities she uses to keep things in tip-top shape down there. There were several hygiene products on the list — a special vagina soap, wipes for on-the-go cleaning, lotions and creams. She also suggested her followers use some little Ben Wa balls, which, as she described, is “like Pilates for your cha-cha!”, and some fancy $200 device to check out the progress of her Kegel exercises. But she also advertised a “vajacial” — a sort of facial for your nether regions. And that’s where she goes wrong. Khloe gets her vajacials from some wax bar in L.A., and essentially she pays someone $75 for “exfoliation, toning, and a ‘face’ mask.” The treatment is also meant to remove any ingrown hairs and clear up pores. But as Dr. Amir Marashi, a gynecologist known in some circles as the Vagina Whisperer, tells Radar Online, the procedure definitely isn’t recommended . He does admit that “I like the fact that all celebrities are talking about vagina because we’ve been ignoring vaginas for a long time.” “I’m really happy celebs are talking — it makes it more comfortable for other people to start talking about it.” But still, he says “I prefer people to get their health care tips from doctors or health care professionals.” He also points out that since Khloe is so famous, someone giving her vagina a facial would likely be way more careful than they would with anyone else. “Patients come to me after this treatment,” he says. “It can very easily be harmed.” The issue, Dr. Marashi explains, is that when getting this vajacial nonsense, the salon worker will often extend the treatment to the inside, into the actual vagina. And you don’t want someone who isn’t a medical professional digging around in there with tools. So hey, how crazy is it that a doctor had to take the time to make a statement about how dumb a Kardashian is ? What a world. And you know we don’t mean that in a good way. Erika Girardi has had herself quite the week. On Monday evening, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star made her debut on Dancing with the Stars, entering on board a unicorn, descending a flight of silver glittery stairs and then doing this on stage: Then, on Tuesday night, the Bravo actress was featured in one of the most unexpected breakdowns in show history. During a trip to Hong Kong, Girardi was reduced to anger and tears after good friend Eileen Davidson tried to smooth things over between Erika and Dorit after their blowout on the junk boat. “She didn't kill your child,” Davidson told Giradi, attempting to put their argument into perspective. But this comment simply shifted gears in Erika's mind to her son, who is a police officer and whose life is therefore on the line with every shift. “Hey, Eileen, let's not do that,” Girardi shot back. “And don't ever bring up killing my child again because my child could get killed.” Davidson said many times that she didn't mean her remark like that… but it was too late. “Eileen, your kid doesn't put on a uniform every night and put his life out on the line for people he doesn't know,” Erika said, growing more and more emotional. Lisa Rinna went over to console Girardi, but the tears were flowing and the pressure of everything was too much to bear. She cursed at Davidson and she continued to tell everyone to never bring up her child again. “I'm very proud of my son being in law enforcement, but obviously it can get a little nerve racking,” Erika has previously said to Bravo, adding: “It’s a dangerous profession. I've known my son was going to be in law enforcement from the time he could walk and talk.
