Octavia Spencer is getting ready to star in Ma a horror movie that is actually her first featured role as the top talent in the film. Ma , tells the story of Sue Ann a lonely woman who befriends a group of teenagers by letting them party at her house. Just when the kids think their luck couldn’t get any better, things start happening that make them question the intention of their host as Ma turns into a sick tale of mayhem and revenge. Don’t let her drink alone. I flew out to Hollywood, California to sit down with Octavia Spencer, Diana Silvers, Juliette Lewis, Makaley Miller Corey Fogelmanis, Dante Brown and Gianni Paolo for a fun conversation about Ma. This week’s Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine really highlights the reach of GlobalGrind as the kids revealed how much they rock with the website, and that they loved the episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine that highlighted Avengers: Endgame . They even broke out in an impromptu rendition of Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road just like the Avengers did. We also got to find out just how much their parents get on their nerves as Dante Brown, who also stars in Lethal Weapon on Fox said: “I think that’s just an everything day thing, that parents don’t want you to be great.” He was obviously joking but Octavia opened up about how people getting on your nerves is a natural feeling. We’re human beings and we have a gamut of emotions that we feel. You would actually be a sociopath if someone didn’t get on your nerves,” Octavia said. She continues by saying she won’t call anyone out but “Hell yeah people get on my nerves.” Ma hits theaters on Friday, May 31st, 2019.

Lamar Odom: I’m Totally Getting Back Together With Khloe!

Lamar Odom has been in rare form lately. Actually, he probably behaves like this quite often, but we don’t know about it because the world collectively decided to stop paying attention to Lamar sometime around 2016. Anyway, Lamar has a new memoir out, and in order to promote it, he’s dredging up the past and airing his dirty laundry like never before. Lamar’s revelations started out bonkers and got even more batsh-t with time. He started off by telling the world that he slept with over 2,000 women , many of them while he was married to Khloe Kardashian. From there, things got progressively more insane, as Odom revealed that he threatened to kill Khloe on at least one occasion. As you can imagine, Khloe is somewhat less than thrilled with being forced to relive her abusive relationship publicly. But despite the fact that he must know this whole experience is extremely painful for his ex, Lamar persists in blathering about Khloe. The worst part is that he seems to be doing it purely exploitative reasons, essentially mining his disastrous marriage for promotional material. Actually, on second thought, the worst part might be that Lamar is still envisioning a future in which he gets back together with Khloe . Asked about his pie-in-the-sky fantasies of reconciliation during a recent interview with Us Weekly, Lamar revealed that he’s “still open” to the possibility of giving his marriage a second chance … as though ending it was his idea. “As far as I’m concerned, but that’s a better question for her,” he elaborated, clearly sending the message that he’s just waiting for her to give the go-ahead. Yes, Lamar certainly knows how to win back a mistreated ex — further traumatize her by forcing her to publicly relive the worst parts of the relationship! The last time KhloMar spent any real time together is when Odom suffered an overdose that nearly claimed his life. When Us asked Lamar what message he would like to send to Khloe about how he’s changed since those dark days, he offered up a bunch of meaningless platitudes: “I’m just a different man now,” he told the tabloid. “You know what’s so crazy that you say that because I remember when I came out of the coma [in 2015 after a drug overdose], and I moved in the house in Calabasas in the same housing community that she lives in.” “Because I was still damn near fried or just basically getting over being fried, I didn’t even know how to show her that I was empathetic, you know what I’m saying, and sorry and that I still loved her,” Odom continued. “I didn’t know how to go about it.” We’d say it’s pretty clear he still doesn’t know how to go about expressing empathy. Yep, you read that right. “When Maurice Wiggins moved to New York from Florida, he knew he wanted to get an advanced degree and he knew that he wanted to earn it from Columbia University. But he would have to get in. And he would have to figure out how to pay for it,” the Columbia University Irving Medical Center website states . “As luck would have it, Wiggins was recruited in 2011 for an HR position at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). Most regular, full-time salaried University employees who have completed two years of continuous service may take advantage of a benefit that pays full tuition for their undergraduate and graduate courses at Columbia University, Barnard College, and Teachers College . In his new memoir Darkness to Light , Lamar Odom admits that he once threatened to kill ex-wife Khloe Kardashian . He was reportedly high on cocaine and ecstasy and upset that Khloe had called his friends for help when he began to hallucinate. From Us Weekly : “Khloé came down and knocked on the door. I opened it suddenly and grabbed her forcefully by the shoulders, which frightened her,” he writes. “‘What the f–k are you doing?’ I screamed, out of my mind. ‘You trying to embarrass me in front of my friends? I’ll f–king kill you! You don’t know what I’m capable of!’” Frustrated, the  Keeping Up With the Kardashians  star ran upstairs and slammed the door. Later on, the basketball player asked his wife for forgiveness. “I was embarrassed and ashamed,” he recalls. “It was a new low for our relationship and my life … the most regrettable moment in a series of regrettable moments.” Elsewhere, Lamar reportedly spoke about the time Khloe put their divorce on hold to stand by his side after he overdosed at a Nevada brothel . According to Lam Lam, Khloe wasn’t so nice to his family when they attempted to visit him in the hospital. From HotNewHipHop : “I had cousins and childhood friends waiting for hours who got bumped out of line by my famous sisters-in-law,” he wrote. “Obviously, I had no idea what was going on. This was Khloe’s call, and she had never even met most of my family.” Odom also noted one incident that occurred with Kris when his Aunt JaNean was finally given access to visit him with his children, Lamar Jr. and Destiny. “When JaNean left my room, she went to the waiting area on the other side of the glass partition and took an open seat: the very seat Kris Jenner had been sitting in for hours,” he wrote. “When Kris got back from the restroom, she approached JaNean. ‘That’s my seat,’ said Kris.” Then Khloe stepped in to kick JaNean out of the waiting room. “Y’all not his family!” Lamar said his aunt shouted at the women. Unlike the others who would just fold out of intimidation, Aunt JaNean apparently wasn’t having it. “The ‘f**k yous’ and ‘b****es’ were flying in every direction,” he said of his aunt’s rant. Black Male Media Project Empowers Black Men To Reclaim Their Narratives

T he National Association of Black Journalists is on a mission to combat the negative portrayals of Black men in the media. For the third consecutive year, the organization will host its “Black Male Media Project” as an avenue to empower and inspire Black men to reclaim their narratives. The organization has been dedicated to the advocacy of Black journalists worldwide. The Black Male Media Project was created as a safe space to foster discussions surrounding everything from the need for more diversity and inclusion in newsrooms to the improvement of positive Black male representation. One of the panels, dubbed #MoreThanMugshots, will take a deep dive into how Black men are portrayed in news coverage. The event is also utilized to align Black men with mentoring and networking opportunities. As part of the global event—which is slated to take place on June 1—nearly 20 NABJ chapters within the U.S. and other parts of the world will host workshops, panels, forums. There will be events hosted in Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Philadelphia and other major cities. The organization hopes that the movement transcends beyond the physical safe spaces that they’ve created as part of the event and encourages individuals to connect and spread awareness about the efforts digitally through the use of the hashtag #InspireBlackMen on social media. “The overarching goal of BMMP is to counteract negative images of Black men often portrayed in the media,” said NABJ President Sarah Glover said in a statement. “We encourage all newsrooms across the country to make this a priority because how Black men are portrayed in the news can have a direct impact on issues such as racial profiling, discriminatory hiring practices, violence and more. Black men are intellectuals, professionals, innovators, spiritual leaders, activists, fathers, brothers and sons just like any other man and should be treated and portrayed that way.” Forums like the Black Male Media Project are needed. According to a study conducted by the Rutgers School of Public Health, there is a direct correlation between the media’s negative portrayal of Black men and how they are treated by the police. Dame Dash’s Ex-Wife Thwarts Request For More Custody, Claims He’s Abusive Dame Dash and his ex-wife of 10 years are going at it over the custody of their 11-year-old daughter Tallulah. According to The Blast , Dame wants more custody over the child but Rachel Roy and his 19-year-old daughter Ava are telling the judge NO WAY. Rachel claims Dame gets high off of marijuana around his daughters and Roy also points to Dash’s history of domestic violence and claims their kids have anxiety when seeing him. She also says his relationship with Ava is strained because he gets angry she doesn’t get involved in their parental battles. Ava Dash, 19, filed a declaration saying she is scared of her father’s temper and mood swings. She says that she is concerned about how much marijuana he smokes, alcohol he drinks, and drugs he takes, all of which affect his mood and makes him more excitable, hard to please and upset. Her mom told the judge that Dash talks badly about Ava to their 11-year-old and emotionally harms them both. Dame had initially claimed in court that his daughter Tallulah asked to spend more time with him. Roy says that a bald-faced lie. Roy claims that on Dash’s birthday, he even shamed their 11-year-old for not bringing him a present, despite her not having access to money.
