Foxy Brown Gets Booed Off Stage In NYC, DJ Plays Lil Kim Instead

Source: Derrick Salters/WENN.com / WENN Last night (May 18) was not a good one for Foxy Brown . The Brooklyn rapper resoundingly got booed off the stage while performing at Xscape singer and Real Housewife of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss’  Dungeon Tour stop in NYC. It went down at Terminal 5, where Fox Boogie surely planned to turn up at the burlesque show. However, poor sound quality and a less than energetic performance caused the boo birds to come out. Also, she was barely keeping up with her own lyrics (note: it wasn’t even the instrumentals playing, it was the actual songs). But let’s not forget, Foxy Brown is at least partially death. Kandi can be heard saying “Y’all gotta respect my girl…” as she was escorted off the stage, to even louder boos. To add insult to struggle’ry, the DJ started playing Lil Kim’s “The Jump Off.” And of course, there’s video. A lot of it. All bad. Yikes Foxy Brown booed off stage in her own city, during Kandi’s #WelcomeToTheDungeon tour in NYC. @Kandi pic.twitter.com/DGZcQXwsfH — Jerome Trammel (@JeromeTrammel89) May 19, 2019 Why they do foxy like this tonight? #Welcometothedungeontour #Foxybrown #kandi pic.twitter.com/6PMSJlNuvJ — Shea' the MF Truth (@IamNikaleShea) May 19, 2019 Uhhh Ms Foxy Brown NO MAM!!! pic.twitter.com/olDL9h9Rtu — Jairius like Darius (@JairiusJohnson) May 19, 2019 Foxy Brown getting booed off stage in NYC pic.twitter.com/qVbrcNPr5D — Sachin Bhola (@SachinBhola) May 19, 2019 — Photo: WENN.com

While most fifth birthday parties are pretty harmless, this one brought all sorts of Twitter drama. That’s because everyone loves arguing about Future and Russell Wilson. Baby Future’s two dads each posted some social media love to the little man. Each post had its fair share of controversy and pushback from the ash bubbles on Twitter. From the moment we came into each other’s worlds to 5 yrs later, you changed my life & my heart for the better. You are the greatest gift I couldve ever asked God for! Source: The Washington Post / Getty Robert F. Smith Pays Off Student Loans For Every Morehouse Graduate Blessings rained down upon the men of Morehouse College ‘s 2019 graduating class yesterday and the story is incredible. According to the AJC , billionaire Robert F. Smith, chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners, gave the HBCU’s commencement speech yesterday and during his remarks he dropped a bomb that sent the entire audience into a whooping, cheering, screaming fit. Smith announced that he was paying off the student loan debt for every single person wearing a cap and gown. Everyone. All 396 students. The gift is estimated to be worth upwards for $40 million. Not only were the graduates happy, but their parents were THRILLED! Tonga Releford, whose son Charles Releford III is a member of the Class of 2019, estimates that his student loans are about $70,000. “I feel like it’s Mother’s Day all over again,” she said. Can you imagine getting this kind of financial relief on the day you get your degree??? Elijah Dormeus, a business administration major, said, “If I could do a backflip, I would. I am deeply ecstatic.”A resident of Harlem in New York City, Dormeus, 22, was carrying $90,000 in student debt. His five siblings all came to Atlanta to see him graduate, along with his mother, Andrea Dormeus, who drives a schoolbus. Of the debt, mother Dormeus said, “I wasn’t too worried, because my faith in God is really strong.” A Morehouse spokesperson said that this is easily the biggest gift that has ever been given in school history. We’ll be pleasantly surprised if anyone breaks Robert Smith’s record. God bless this brotha and congratulations to the men of Morehouse ’19!

New Book Highlights The Legacy Of Black Cyclist Marshall Taylor

Read the original post:

A n unsung Black athlete is finally getting the recognition that he deserves. Marshall ‘Major’ Taylor —a man who dominated cycling during the late 1800s—is being highlighted in a new book, Chicago PBS reported. Taylor was the world’s fastest athlete at the turn of the 20th century in a sport for which the wheels were just beginning to turn in the U.S. — cycling. https://t.co/JBxAIygShB — WTTW (Chicago PBS) (@wttw) May 15, 2019 The book, titled The World’s Fastest Man: The Extraordinary Life of Cyclist Major Taylor , America’s First Black Sports Hero , was penned by political reporter Michael Kranish . It delves into the racism that Taylor faced while competing during that era. Due to Jim Crow laws, he was banned from participating in several competitions and endured racially charged physical attacks during races. Taylor—who at one point was the world’s fastest cyclist—didn’t let the racial discrimination that he experienced deter him from cycling. In fact, he used all of the negative experiences as fuel to push forward and understood that what he was doing was something bigger than himself; he was opening up doors for generations of Black athletes to follow in his footsteps. Many star athletes would follow suit and lend their voices to social and political issues including Jackie Robinson , Muhammad Ali , Colin Kaepernick , LeBron James and Serena Williams . “He really was a civil rights icon for his day,” Kranish said in a statement. “He wrote extensively about racing not just for his glory. He wanted to show that if he could win a fair match against whites, that any Black could compete and triumph whatever field they tried, if they were given a fair shot.” Taylor is also the inspiration behind a new art exhibit slated to be unveiled next month. Artist Kadir Nelson —known for doing the cover art for rapper Drake ’s Nothing Was the Same album—will create a bronze sculpture of Taylor that will be on display at 3 World Trade Center.
