We pick p with Marlo trying to impose her “stylist” skills on Shamari, claiming she needs a fashion update and an upgrade. Shamarai doesn’t take too kindly at first because it does seem like Marlo is being shady and not really trying to help, but eventually, she just goes along with it. The outfit ends up being some jeans, a giant scarf looking thing draped over Shamari as a shirt and a gigantic beach hat. Nene accurately calls the obvious thing out—it really just looks like an outfit Marlo would wear, some stylist she is. It’s raining out so Nene figures out how to turn all that pinned up shade into something a little more productive—a game called “B—h Stole My Talent.” It’s basically a battle of the talents competition series where the group will judge who wins. Marlo and Tanya compete as the fashion queens. They model outfits and the group chooses Tanya as the winner. Then it’s Cynthia and Eva in a walk-off since they’re the models. Cynthia wins and it’s a unanimous decision, which says a lot because you know how Eva is always trying to come for Cynthia’s so-called dated modeling skills. Shamari and Kandi have a sing-off and while both women can sing, Shamari brings it by singing “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” while Kandi falls flat—pun intended—with an original piece that had all of us scratching our heads. Anyway, Shamari wins. Finally, Porsha and Nene will be judged by who hosted the best and Nene takes the gold. It’s all love though, for now. The next day they split up for various activities. Kandi, Eva, and Sharmari end up doing aerial pilates while Cynthia, NeNe, Tanya, and Marlo get a massage. Porsha misses all the fun because she’s not feeling well and the latter group of women figured out that she’s probably pregnant because her behavior has made it obvious and they noticed weight gain in her belly. Cynthia even brings up making her take a pregnancy test and we hope not because, mind your business. NeNe visits Porsha back at the house and cuts to the chase. Porsha lies and says, “She hasn’t checked yet” (she took a home pregnancy test but is still awaiting her first official doctor appointment) but NeNe knows what’s up. She says she’s not going to say anything, but she’s super excited and tells Porsha that the other women are on to her. That’s when Porsha shows NeNe a Coca-Cola and apple juice concoction that she put in a Hennessey bottle that she plans to drink to throw the group off because she realizes that she has been looking suspect. Fast forward to dinner. Porsha pulls out the Hennessey and leads a toast as everyone else drinks champagne. It’s odd that she would go from an “alcohol fast” to pulling liquor out of her purse for a toast, but it seems to work. It all goes downhill shortly after that when Marlo and Shamari go at it. Basically, Shamari says she didn’t appreciate Marlo’s aggressiveness about switching p her wardrobe. Marlo thinks she’s Shamari’s style savior and that Shamari should be grateful. It gets so intense that Shamari calls Marlo a “b—h” because she had time. Then Marlo fires back with, “Yo’ mama” (loosely translated) and that’s when the other women in the group jump in and try to calm things down. Finally, they make it through the dinner with wigs and fragile egos kinda sorta intact. And it gets real. Brenner, a screenwriter and actress, recently told Deadline that Mara Brock-Akil , Salim’s wife and show co-creator, was fully aware of her husband’s 10-year affair with Brenner. Also, Brenner admitted that what prompted her to go public was seeing Mara speaking out in support for the #MeToo movement , meanwhile her own husband was violent towards women. “It started when Mara was on the cover of some magazine and she stood along with other women in the industry talking about #MeToo or Time’s Up. I read it and I was appalled and I felt disregarded and that the issues from the relationship that in the past I had tried to resolve or discuss regarding violence she was very silent about. Like not responding to texts earlier on in the relationship.” She also states that she emailed the Girlfriends creator to talk about the issue as well. “I wrote her an email saying how is it that you come forward now when in your private life you knew that your husband had a habit of hitting me? The letter I wrote was very thorough. I said I came to know it as reflective of the definition of abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and the abuse of power also based upon their stature in the industry and otherwise.” When asked about her thoughts on OWN canceling the show, she stated that they “did the right thing” by axing the show after her lawsuit against him became public . “I did feel a sense of this is the right thing, this is correct response from the OWN network. This is a correct response to Salim and Mara and it felt like a bit of an acknowledgment of what I had gone through.” Yet she added that the entire situation is “terrible.” “Look, it’s a sad situation. It’s a terrible situation that I was ever in the predicament of having to call him out and her out. It’s tragic to me that these things ever happened. It’s tragic to me that my work was stolen and then misappropriated to their supposed love story. Finally, when asked why she filed the lawsuit, Brenner stressed she had to in order to live her truth. “I got to a point where I could no longer live with myself and be the mother I wanted to be, be the Amber I always dreamed of being if I tolerated the history of the abuse…I could not walk with my head up.” As we previously reported , despite being renewed earlier this summer for a second season , OWN reps announced on Wednesday (Dec. 19) that they were cancelling the show. “OWN has decided not to move forward with the second season of Love Is __, ” a network spokesperson said. The popular drama was based on how the Akil’s met in the 90s and fell in love. The cancellation came weeks after Brenner’s lawsuit against Akil came public. In it, she accused him of of domestic violence and breach. Papers that Brenner filed on November 20, 2018, claim she had a lengthy “physically and sexually abusive relationship” with Akil that occurred during his marriage to Mara. Brenner is also suing the “Black Lightening” co-creator for breach of contract accusing Akil of taking her 2015 script “Luv & Perversity in the East Village”about their relationship and using part of that script for his OWN show Love Is without her consent, knowledge and compensation. Last month, Jezebel reported that Brenner’s lawsuit paints a disturbing picture of Akil and their relationship, which included the following: Multiple claims of physical and sexual abuse i.e. forcing her to perform oral sex on him which ended with him urinating in her mouth. Outside his house on Martha’s Vineyard, she alleges that “he proceeded to stick three fingers up her anus and started lecturing her.” Multiple instances of him slapping and strangling her during sex. Him taking sexual pictures of her without her consent. Bouts of verbal abuse threatening that if she ever got pregnant he would dispose of her in a desert if and said if they were married and she cheated on him, “he would stick her hand in a hot skillet of grease.” No word on whether the CW will cancel the Akil’s other show “Black Lightening.” Read Brenner’s interview with Deadline in its entirety here . Source: Gladys Vega/Getty Images / Getty Here’s Why Cardi B Refuses To Perform At The Superbowl As you know, Travis Scott has signed on to perform at the Superbowl halftime show this year and is in the midst of being counseled against it by Hip-Hop legends. But prior to his eleventh-hour sunken decision, the NFL was practically begging Cardi B to turn up and support Maroon 5 at the show — which she has notably refused. However, according to a source for Page Six , Cardi is only refusing to perform at halftime because the NFL isn’t meeting her outlandish demands, not because she has any solidarity with kneeling players or issues with the league’s racial policies. The source claims Cardi demanded to be paid around $1 million to appear during the 20-minute performance and also required a solo spot during the show without Maroon 5 accompanying her on stage. The thing is, the NFL typically doesn’t pay artists to perform at all. They instead give a “gift in kind” to performers, which covers all production and wardrobe for the performance, travel, and accommodations for the artists. It’s more of a career benchmark and honor for the artists than a big-check opportunity. But Cardi wants her cash. Other sources close to Cardi claim that she really is refusing the slot in solidarity with Kaepernick and his #TakeAKnee movement, and it has nothing to do with the 7 figures the NFL isn’t handing out. Without sharing many details, she hit Instagram with an update on herself and her “golden child.” She wrote on Thursday night: “I’m FINALLY back home and doing much better. The baby has been PERFECTLY fine since being born Dec. 14th and I’m resting & recovering at home. (Pap is VERY happy, on cloud 9,999 )” She also thanked her loved ones and fans for all of the prayers, plus the team of doctors and security who made sure her family was OK throughout it all: “Thank you to all of our family, friends, and loved ones who reached out- Sorry for not responding to texts and/or calls – I physically was not able to and my husband @papoosepapoose was concerned & worried about me all while looking after our “Golden Child”. Also, thank you to all the fans who sent their love and prayers We would also like to thank the ENTIRE staff at the hospital (doctors, nurses, aides, even the housekeeping) as well as the AMAZING security team ; not only did you all make sure my family was well taken care of but everyone was very professional and extremely respectful & protective of our privacy; we truly appreciate it – with love, The Mackies” In case you missed it , Remy Ma was rushed back to the hospital after giving birth due to excessive bleeding. On Thursday (Dec. 20), the femcee posted a post-delivery pic of her and her husband Papoose looking healthy and happy. “I’m FINALLY back home and doing much better. Lies! Betrayal! Heartbreak! And a brand new cast member! Bravo has unveiled the first trailer for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills… and let’s just say it isn’t short on drama. With Denise Richards on board and with rumors swirling that Lisa Vanderpump may be leaving the franchise, fans have been anxiously awaiting footage of new episodes to come. And none of it disappoints. At one point in this trailer, we hear Kyle Richards saying, “Someone is hellbent on getting this Dorit story out there,” while Vanderpump alleges: “They’re all trying to make me feel like a terrible person!” Elsewhere in this preview, Vanderpump tells Dorit Kemsley that she loves her — and then quickly points out, “Well, I actually don’t.” “I’m not going to say what a f-cking bitch she was,” Vanderpump remarks later on. “Up, I said it!” At whom is her anger director? It appears to be Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave or Kyle Richards, who seem to be on the outs with Vanderpump. In another scene, Vanderpump says Mellencamp Arroyave is “guilty by omission,” while holding up printed copies of her text messages. Lisa has said previously that she’ll be heavily involved in Season 9, but did add ominiously: “There are some parts I missed. And you’ll see why. ” Vanderpump will have at least one ally on Season 9, however. Isn’t that right, Erika Girardi? “I kind of feel like the two of you are in cahoots,” we see her telling Kyle and Kemsley in this promo, adding to other castmates: “She doesn’t want to sit and pretend to be nice to someone who has f-cked her over. That’s not friendship, that’s bullshit.” “I’m not responsible for Lisa Vanderpump’s actions,” Kyle yells. On the professional front, Vanderpump will throw all of her time and effort into her restaurant as a way to cope with her brother’s death, while Richards will ponder the future of her Beverly Hills clothing store and also settle into her new home after sending 18-year-old daughter Sophia off to college. Rinna will wonder whether she wants to act again — and Denise Richards and Camille Grammar will both have weddings to plan. Grammer will also make her return felt by getting into an argument with Rinna over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh , telling her occasional rival: “I know what it feels like to be wrongfully accused.” Yup, Camille Grammer is gonna stand up for Brett Kavanaugh. Does this all sound dramatic enough for you?
