Basketball Wives creator Shaunie O’Neal recently sat down with The Undefeated about the reality show’s scrutiny. Shaunie points out that the only difference between her show and shows like Real Housewives of New York is skin color… “They’re a little harder on us, for whatever reason … but there’s nothing going on in Basketball Wives that isn’t going on with Real Housewives of New York. Hell, most of the time I think we’re a lot tamer,” she said, laughing. “And sometimes, honestly I agree [with the critics]. It’s not a proud moment for me [when we’re fighting]. Did it happen? Yes. Do you expect VH1 to leave that on the cutting room floor? Absolutely not.” She said though, that she’s not a puppeteer. “Our show, it’s a 110 percent real.” What’s the real difference? Discuss. VH1
Nick Viall struck out for the third time on ABC last night. Following a pair of runner-up finishes on The Bachelorette, it appeared as if Nick had found love on Bachelor in Paradise. He and Jen Saviano woke up on Tuesday night in the Fantasy Suite, with Viall gushing over how it’s “truly amazing what private alone time does for a relationship” and Jen later telling Nick: “I’ve fallen in love with you, and I want to continue to fall if you’re willing to catch me.” How sweet, right?!? How romantic, no?!? How sadly misguided of Jen. Viall responded to this outpouring of emotion by saying he didn’t want to regret a proposal and that Jen deserved better than him anyway. “K,” she replied. And that was that. Here’s a look at Viall (sort of) breaking Jen’s heart in front of millions of viewers on last night’s Bachelor in Paradise finale . Of course, Nick Viall will be The Bachelor this spring. So we already knew he didn’t end up with Jen. Viall did go ahead, however, and try to make the best of the situation, considering he now needs viewers around the country who watch The Bachelor online or on television to root for him on Season 21. “It’s not easy saying goodbye to someone as incredible as @jensav11,” Viall wrote on Instagram as a caption to the above image. He added: “One of the most beautiful, graceful, and intelligent women I’ve ever met. So lucky to have had her in my life. She deserves the world.” On the finale, Viall confessed that Saviano simply wasn’t the right woman for him. “I wanted to say I was in love with you, but something in my heart just said I can’t,” he told her. “Sometimes you wish you could tell your heart what to do, and if I could, I would tell it to choose you. I just feel like something’s telling me to say goodbye. “I’m sorry. My biggest fear is that I’m going to regret it.” Profound stuff from Nick there. Jules Wainstein Wainstein was excited to join season eight of ‘The Real Housewives of New York’ before it premiered, but when her marriage fell apart and she filed for divorce in June 2016, Wainstein decided to focus on her family instead of returning to the franchise. 2. Larsa Pippen Pippen is one of Kim Kardashian’s closest friends, but even that claim to fame couldn’t keep her on ‘The Real Housewives of Miami.’ Pippen was a bit too normal for Bravo’s liking, so she only starred in season one before getting the boot. 3. Claudia Jordan Jordan was an actress before joining season 9 of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ and found herself in hot water for accidentally confirming that Jamie Foxx (with whom she’s worked) and Katie Holmes were dating in the summer of 2016. Jordan batracked and denied she knew anything about the couple. “A lot of times, I get asked questions about celebrities — some I know, some I don’t — a lot of times we just give a safe kind of generic answer,” Jordan told Entertainment Tonight. “Sorry to not have this bombshell story, but I cannot confirm them.” 4. Cristy Rice Rice divorced NBA star Greg Rice around the time that ‘The Real Housewives of Miami’ had premiered in 2011. After lasting only one season, celeb gossip site The Dirty alleged that Rice was having an affair with Teo Hoffman, a wealthy Mormon business man with a family of his own. 5. Lydia McLaughlin Sweet, doe-eyed McLaughlin lasted all of one season ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ before voluntarily leaving. “I remember sitting on the couch [during the reunion special], having nothing to do with the conflict or the drama, but feeling so sad,” McLaughlin wrote in her 2015 book, ‘Beyond Orange County: A Housewives Guide to Faith and Happiness.’ “I sensed the Holy Spirit inside me saying, ‘You don’t have to be here.’ So I stood up and walked off set.” 6. Kathryn Edwards Edwards confirmed she was leaving ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ after just one season. Whether it was Bravo’s decision or hers, Edwards told People Magaizne that she walked away from the experience “with great feelings,” and no regrets. “It was definitely an adventure for me,” Edwards said. “I really am kind of a private person. It really just comes down to the time and what I value the most. I value those times with my husband and our friends. And I really didn’t want to miss another year. At one point, he actually screams that he's gonna “smack” Teresa's “f-cking head” up against the wall, to which Teresa calmly replies: “You need to keep your mouth shut.” But this tactic didn't exactly work, as Joe continued his tirade by telling her to “shut the f—k up.”' “I think you need to leave,” Teresa replied. Gladly , Joe shot back, saying that he “can't wait to leave [for prison],” and that the only thing he'll miss are his children. Sounds harsh, right? Sounds really inappropriate? Don't worry. It didn't really happen. It doesn't take a genius to analyze the clip below and see that the camera is never actually on Teresa or Joe when their explosive words are uttered. Will NeNe Leakes Return To RHOA? Seems like there are a lot of shake ups on Real Housewives of Atlanta next season. After NeNe pretty much promised to never return to deal with the “fake ladies” on the show, she popped right back up last season as a “guest star” — for a little over HALF the season. With a mostly positive relationship with the ladies this time around, having jazzed up the season a bit, and now a new partnership with “house husband” Peter Thomas …is NeNe poised for an official comeback? Not exactly…via TMZ : NeNe Leakes’ streak on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is finally coming to an end … at least based on what’s NOT been going on during season 9 tapings. TMZ has learned they’ve been shooting for weeks now, and NeNe is nowhere in sight. It seemed like she was possibly coming back to the main cast after being named a guest last season. She’s been busy with a HSN clothing line, one woman tour, new game show and a stint on “Fashion Police.” Our ‘RHOA’ sources tell us producers have added at least one new cast member, and NeNe — the only remaining OG ATL housewife — doesn’t look to be part of plans going forward. We’re told “guest appearances” are always a possibility, but as of now producers aren’t counting on having NeNe. Well…NeNe loves to say how much more she has going on than the other reality wives. As previously reported, the marriage between Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas is over . But might the relationship between Bailey and the show that made her famous also be coming to an end? Yes, according to a rumor started by some blog called “Tamara Tattles.” It states that Bailey is moving on from Thomas is ways that go beyond mere emotion; she has also put the home she used to share with her ex-husband on the market. The four bedroom, four bathroom residence was listed this week for $699,000. Where might Bailey end up if she moves permanently away from Atlanta? She could try out Los Angeles, where she already spends a great deal of time due to the presence there of her daughter, Noelle. And she may also just drop off the celebrity gossip radar for a bit, relocating to her relatively new lake house. Bailey has been spending the past several days there, happily sharing gorgeous snapshots on her Instagram account. “So excited #viewfrommywindow #backyard #peace #serenity #Godswork #beautiful #1life2live #myhappy50tome #loveatfirstsight #lakebailey #baileyboat #gonefishin,” she wrote as the caption to one photo of the water. Just “the Lake,” she penned in regard to the picture above. It should basically go without saying that Bravo cameras won’t venture out to film Bailey in either of these locales. You may need to watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta online next year without Cynthia Bailey as a part of the main cast. Do you really think she’ll walk away from the spotlight, though? From her salary? Will Bravo executives even want her back if the drama between her and Thomas can no longer be a storyline? So many questions, so few answers at the moment.
