Woman Dies on Plane From Brazil to Texas

A woman died on a plane from Brazil en route to Dallas this morning, reports indicate. She was pronounced dead on the plane; the AA flight was then diverted to Houston. Flight 962 from Sao Paulo to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport landed instead at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. A medical emergency was reported inside the Boeing 777 aircraft. After the 25-year-old woman’s body was taken to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to be examined, the flight continued from Houston to Dallas. More than 200 passengers and a 14-person crew were aboard the flight when the woman died. A medical examiner will determine what caused the death. A spokesman said there were no visible signs of trauma.

Talkback: Samuel L. Jackson Really Wants This Interviewer To Drop An N-Bomb

You might have heard the shocking news that Django Unchained features copious use of the word ‘nigger’. I know! I can’t understand why a film set in the antebellum South, featuring numerous unrepentant slaveowners, during a time when black people were considered barely human as a matter of course, would have so many n-bombs. Sure, the word is almost exclusively spoken by villains or by black people to refer to themselves, and sure, it is one of the few aspects of the film that is 100% historically accurate, but come on. How rude of Quentin Tarantino to include it and make the harsh depiction of the slavery era even more uncomfortable. I’m kidding, the fake controversy is incredibly stupid 1 , and feels to me like the rush to blame movies and video games for terrible acts of public violence, because that’s easier than actually facing our demons head-on 2 . Maybe that’s why Samuel L. Jackson had a bit of fun during an interview with FOX Houston’s film critic Jake Hamilton over the issue. About 14 minutes into the the video below, Hamilton started to ask Jackson about the controversy, and this happened: I feel for Hamilton of course. His refusal to use the word and stir up a hornet’s nest of both real and fake outrage is understandable, but of course, it’s just a word. I would hope we’re at a place where we can use it in context – like I did here – without anyone mistaking you for a racist. Perhaps Jackson’s position that the taboo just gives the word more power is the correct one. Either way, this was hilarious. What do you think, readers? Sound off in comments. 1. Speaking of stupid, we’re not giving Drudge hits, but surely you read about his recent Django-inspired N-word tirade. Yeah. 2. BTW, Louie C.K. was right ; being white and male is like winning the lottery. [ Source: Gawker ]

Gabriel Aubry-Olivier Martinez Brawl Deemed "Mutual Combat"; Criminal Charges Unlikely

Forget the He Said/He Said behind last week’s brawl between Gabriel Aubry and Olivier Martinez . Here is what the police reportedly say: Aubry will NOT face any criminal charges as a result of the incident, which he swears under oath was instigated by Halle Berry’s fiancé on Thanksgiving morning – and which the recent batch of bloody Gabriel Aubry photos make clear was especially one-sided. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the fight has been labeled ” mutual combat ,” meaning neither party is to legally blame. Elsewhere, Aubry was shot down in court yesterday in his attempt to overturn a restraining order against him. He is still barred from getting within 100 yards of Berry, Martinez or daughter Nahla. But that document expires tomorrow, at which time the actress and the French actor are expected back in court to fight for an extension.

Every year for the past four years, at every concert I’ve been…

Every year for the past four years, at every concert I’ve been to, I’ve tried to meet Justin. From hotel stalking, to just simply going to buyouts and waiting outside the tour bus, it’s never happened.  It all started this time with me not having any tickets to the Believe tour for Houston, Texas. I didn’t think I would get tickets, but the next day my local radio station started giving out tickets. I ended up being the first one to win tickets from them! I expected to go and enjoy the concert, with no intentions of meeting him. My friend then told me to join BieberFever.com and enter the contest for meet and greets! I entered, and ended up not winning. But my sister, who didn’t send in a picture, but sent in an essay, and showed Hoogs how #BiebsMeetDestinyAndFaith was trending, won!  The day of the concert came and I was SO nervous. I went to the venue around 10 AM, and hung around the venue all day with my friends. I had butterflies in my stomach all day long. I literally felt so sick, and could not eat at all! I mean, I WAS MEETING JUSTIN BIEBER. I couldn’t believe it myself. We got our meet and greets around 3 pm and went in line. We were in line for a good hour, and the lady said, “Make friends! Six girls in a picture!” My group got together, and since me and my twin sister have never met Justin, my friends let us stand next to him. When we got to go in, I walked in first and saw him. He looked perfect. Literally, his face is flawless. He had on a brown shirt, a SnapBack and glasses. I said, “Hi Justin” nervously, and he said “Hey sweetie!” and held out his arms for a hug. I hugged him, then the other girls poured in and said hi and got their hugs. Before we took our picture, I said “Justin, can I kiss you?” And he said, “No there’s too many girls, lets just take a regular picture, ok?” And I was like “Oh ok…” and he said “Next time we meet, you can kiss me.” I was like ok cool, but on the inside my ovaries exploded into like a million pieces. They snapped the picture and we hugged him goodbye one last time and left. Even though it was only like 2 minutes, I’m so grateful I got to meet him. If you haven’t met him, don’t lose hope because I know it will happen. It happened for me! Just believe.   More here: Every year for the past four years, at every concert I’ve been…
