For some reason Chris Brown has Rihanna going crazy since they made the Birthday Cake remix together. She’s been going in on Chris Brown’s now girlfriend Karrueche via Twitter lately. Last night Ri Ri tweeted a photo of a pack rice cakes w/ glasses and gold hoops (same ensemble Karrueche usually wears). Karrueche is half Vietnamese and a “rice cake” is a racist remark towards the Asian community. Rihanna is determined to win Chris back and get the other woman out of the picture. Thoughts? It’s a dang shame when people can’t have privacy even after their death. Someone will always do something disrespectful which makes leaking Whitney Houston’s photo [in casket] a disgrace!! I’m furious that someone would have no regard for Whitney or her family. But thank goodness they found the person who sold the photos from the New Jersey funeral home to the National Enquirer. SMH! Star Ledger reports: Carolyn Whigham, who owns and runs the funeral home on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and two local pastors said although they do know who took the photo, they would not identify the person. “It’s up to the Houston family to release the name,” said the Rev. Jethro James, pastor of Paradise Baptist Church. Whigham said that although the Houston family has closed its inquiry into the matter, the funeral home had not. She said she would consider taking legal action.
Essence Magazine pays homage to Whitney Houston by placing her on the cover of their April issue… Whitney had “The Voice”. Before the term was even coined and show was ever thought of: When she burst onto the scene in 1985, her self-titled album sold 10 million copies in the U.S. alone. With her second album, Whitney, she became the first woman to enter the Billboard album charts at number one. Whether singing sophisticated pop ballads or soul-stirring gospel, her songs moved us to dance and to tears. Her unparalleled talent influenced an entire generation of young performers: Mariah. Beyoncé. Christina. Alicia. To millions she was pop royalty. But to those who knew her and loved her, she was the girl from Newark who was blessed with one of the greatest musical instruments of our time. Will you be picking up the April issue? Bobby Brown is not the only person reportedly looking to profit off Whitney Houston’s death. According to Great Britain’s The Daily Mail , plans for a Whitney biopic – which existed when the singer was still alive – are being fast-tracked, and a number of big names are lining up for the main role. The leading contender? Rihanna, with Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson and Vivica A. Fox also allegedly up for consideration. “Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead,” an insider says , comparing the film to What’s Love Got To Do With It , a Tina Turner biopic that landed two Oscar nominations for Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne. Who do you think should portray Houston if this movie goes into production?
Wow… According to TMZ reports : Whitney Houston’s mother Cissy has unfinished business to attend to — sources tell TMZ she’s planning a pilgrimage BACK to the Beverly Hills hotel room where her daughter died … all in an attempt to get some closure. According to sources close to Cissy, she wants to go back to room 434 at the Beverly Hilton hotel and reestablish a spiritual connection with her daughter … in order to come to terms with her sudden death. We’re told Cissy plans to pray while she’s there — and just spend quiet, contemplative time in the space. As one source put it — Cissy “won’t be at peace until she gets closure.” It’s unclear when Cissy plans to return to the hotel room — but we’re told the visit will be soon … she’s currently planning out the logistics. ‘In Memoriam’ montage also pays tribute to Steve Jobs, Sidney Lumet, Jane Russell and more fallen stars. By Ryan J. Downey Whitney Houston honored at the 84th Annual Academy Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Billy Crystal introduced this year’s “In Memoriam” montage with personal, heartfelt words about two Academy Awards producers who passed away in 2011, one of whom was Laura Ziskin, who produced on films like “Spider-Man” and “As Good as It Gets.” Esperanza Spalding , backed by the Southern California Children’s Choir, sang a restrained and powerful version of “What a Wonderful World” as the clips played. The audience was asked to hold their applause until after the montage concluded, which they respectfully abided by. This prevented the morbid “applause-meter” phenomenon of years past, which seemed to unwittingly measure one fallen industry person’s popularity against another. The montage included a number of producers, costume designers, sound technicians and other departed industry folks, in addition to writers, directors and film stars. Among those honored were Whitney Houston and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs , who was awarded a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy Special Merit Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles earlier this month. The montage also included Jane Russell (who died shortly after last year’s Academy Awards), Farley Granger (who starred in two Alfred Hitchcock films, including “Strangers on a Train”), Hal Kanter, Jackie Cooper (the former child actor who also famously played newspaper boss to Christopher’s Reeve’s “Superman”), Sidney Lumet (director of classic movies like “Serpico,” “Network” and “Twelve Angry Men”) and Oscar winner Cliff Robertson (best known to modern audiences as Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben). The “In Memoriam” at the 84th annual Academy Awards closed with a clip of Elizabeth Taylor as “Cleopatra.” The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! SMH: St. Louis residents expressed outrage this week over a “Battle of the Complexions” contest scheduled for Friday night, but the event’s promoters said they organized it to honor African-American women and regretted any “misunderstanding.” The event was set for 9 p.m. local time (10 p.m. ET) at a nightclub in St. Louis. Promotional materials, including the poster pictured at right, promised a contest to see which African-American women are most attractive — those with light skin, those with brown skin or those with dark skin. “This is the most debatable topic of the year, whats the sexiest skin complexion?? So ladies come out & lets settle this!!” the promoters — Mack TV, a video and music promotional company, and a local “men’s entertainment” promoter calling himself Nelly Da’Celeb — said on a Facebook page for the event, which msnbc.com is not linking to because of extreme language. Adolphus Pruitt, president of the St. Louis chapter of the NAACP, said the event “raises the … hair on the back of people’s necks like me and some other folks.” “Folks who buy into it, support it, feed into it, they’re just assuring that using race — using the skin complexion of women, devaluating women and things of this nature — is going to continue to happen, because as long as people spend money to take advantage of it, somebody’s going to use it as a promotional tool,” Pruitt told NBC station KSDK. After the contest was highlighted this week by Kevin C. Johnson, a music writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, negative reaction was swift and loud. Camille Houston, an African-American woman from St. Louis, told KSDK that she found the promotion offensive because it perpetuates historical divisions in the African-American community centered on skin tone. “Some guys will say, ‘I don’t like talking to dark-skinned girls,’ or, you know, some girls will say. ‘I don’t like talking to dark-skinned guys,’” Houston said. In a post Thursday on Nelly Da’Celeb’s personal Facebook page, Mack TV and Nelly Da’Celeb said they understood why some people were upset but that the event would go on: MACK TV WOULD LIKE TO CLEAR UP THE MISUNDERSTANDING OF OUR CONCEPT FOR THIS PARTY…ITS NOT TO DEGRADE WOMEN OR DIVIDE SKIN COLORS. ITS SIMPLY TO SEE WHICH COMPLEXION OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN RACE REPRESENTS THE MOST (lightskinned, caramel-brown, or darkskinned) AS A WHOLE , MALE & FEMALE! I CAN SEE THE MISUNDERSTANDING WITH OUR PROMO…..WE COULD HAVE USED A BETTER CHOICE OF WORDS….WE DID NOT MEAN TO OFFEND THE OFFENDED ITS BLACK HISTORY MONTH , SO WE MADE A PARTY THEME DEDICATED TO OUR AFRICAN AMERICAN CROWD. THE YOUNGER GENERATION IS LOVING THIS PARTY BECAUSE HERE’S THE FIRST TIME EVER YOU CAN COME OUT & BE PROUD THAT YOU ARE BLACK!! REGARDLESS OF YOUR SKIN TONE SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION & MISLEADING INFO. ITS BLACK HISTORY MONTH , SO LETS BE PROUD OF THE SKIN WE’RE IN!! REPRESENT YOUR COMPLEXION! Thoughts on this?!?!?! Source Photo: Facebook More On Bossip! Smackdown!
