Elton John Joins List Of Gay Celebrity Fathers

Ricky Martin and Neil Patrick Harris are just a few gay stars who have started families. By James Dinh Elton John Photo: Neil Mockford/FilmMagic Christmas Day was more than just a festive holiday for Elton John, as he and his husband, David Furnish, welcomed their first child , Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. The monumental occasion puts the iconic singer into a league of fellow gay celebrities who have ventured into the world of parenthood. Take a look at these other gay stars-turned-fathers: Ricky Martin Martin didn’t officially come out until earlier this year, but the Latin pop star started a family a few years ago. In August 2008, the singer became a proud father of twin boys, Matteo and Valentino Martin, who were born via a surrogate. In an interview with People, the former Menudo ,member revealed that fatherhood “has been the most spiritual moment in my life.” Neil Patrick Harris With just a 140-character Twitter message, the “How I Met Your Mother” star announced to the world that he and longtime partner David Burtka were expecting twins . Just a few months later, the Emmy-winning actor took to the social-networking site again to reveal the arrival of Gideon Scott and Harper Grace with the help of a surrogate. Prior to the twin’s birth, Harris researched his role as a future father, admitting to People, “I’m trying to read as much as I can, and prep as much as I can. But there’s only so much you can do because each baby is super individual and totally their own person.” Clay Aiken While his sexuality had always been speculated about, Clay didn’t come out until the arrival of his son , Parker Foster Aiken, in 2008. Earlier that year, it had been reported that the former “American Idol” contestant had artificially inseminated friend and music producer Jaymes Foster. In a statement on his website, Aiken gushed about his newborn, saying, “The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also.” B.D. Wong “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” actor B.D. Wong and his longtime partner Richie Jackson suffered a setback in their road to fatherhood when the couple lost one of their newborn twins 90 minutes after birth. The twin boys were born 11 weeks premature through a surrogate mother with Wong’s sperm and an egg donated by Jackson’s sister. One of the boys, Jackson Foo Wong, survived and inspired the actor to write a memoir called “Following Foo.” Related Photos Famous Gay Dads Related Artists Elton John

Javier Bardem on Biutiful, Barcelona, and the Economy of Exploitation (Oscars Included)

I could feed you that tired old line about Javier Bardem delivering the performance of a lifetime etc. etc. in Biutiful , but come on. Why lie? The reality is that Bardem has delivered such richly drawn, deeply layered work for years, from his role as doomed Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas in Before Night Falls to the right-to-die proponent Ramon Sampedro in The Sea Inside and even the affectless, coin-tossing killer Anton Chigurh in No Country For Old Men — all canonical characters of the last decade, all justifiably Oscar-nominated (with the latter winning). It is fair to say Biutiful ‘s struggling, terminally ill Barcelonan eclipses them all; so when will Bardem receive the awards-season recognition he deserves?

Neil Patrick Harris Regrets Blasting Soap Star On Twitter

Actor calls Eric Braeden a ‘D-bag’ after soap star drops out of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ cameo. By Mawuse Ziegbe Neil Patrick Harris and Eric Braeden Photo: Getty Images “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris recently stirred up some offscreen drama related to the show, but later regretted starting the flap. The controversy began when Harris tweeted some unsavory comments about soap star Eric Braeden, who was slated to tape a cameo as character Robin Scherbatsky’s father. However, Harris took offense after “The Young and the Restless” actor dropped out of the appearance. “Eric Braeden is a D-Bag. the actor, (Robin’s dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn’t ‘substantial’ enough,” Harris tweeted on Friday. Braeden shot back in an interview with Entertainment Weekly later that day, shrugging off Harris’ gripe and explaining he ditched the cameo due to an increased workload. “I really don’t know who that fellow is. He’s a guy who stars in that series,” Braeden laughed to EW. “It’s very unfortunate. First of all, I came back from hip surgery. I was off for three weeks. I’ve doubled my work, 30 to 50 pages a day for me, alone. Everyone knows that I’m exhausted. I was not about to appear on a show for two lines, because that’s what it amounted to.” Braeden added that he returned to the show because he enjoyed his first cameo in 2008 and “the cast and crew and producers couldn’t have been nicer.” However, the veteran actor appeared to view Harris’ comments as arrogance. “His choice of words bothered me,” Braeden added. “It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who’s received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris. I’ve been in the business for 50 years. I’ve seen people come and go and I’m still here.” Ultimately, Braeden maintained that he had no plans to escalate the drama, saying,”If he is a worthy adversary, he’d better not cross my path. I will let bygones be bygones.” Later, Harris returned to Twitter to explain he just had a visceral reaction to someone bashing his beloved “Mother.” “Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment,” he wrote . “Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show.” What do you think of Harris’ comments? Let us know in the comments below!

Diddy Talks Fear Of Commitment On ‘The View’

‘As my heart got broken by one, I cried on the shoulder of another,’ Diddy-Dirty Money frontman reveals on talk-fest. By Jayson Rodriguez Diddy (file) Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/DCP On “Coming Home,” the latest single from Diddy-Dirty Money’s Last Train To Paris, the rap mogul contemplates having a touchy conversation with his kids down the road. “What if my twins ask why I ain’t marry their mom?” he raps on the number. “Damn, how do I respond?” During an appearance on “The View” on Tuesday (December 14), host Barbara Walters pressed Diddy about the line. “What’s your trouble, is what I’m trying to get at,” she asked. Diddy answered, explaining that his fractured upbringing, among other things, has been a factor in his ongoing bachelorhood. “The reason of it, why I’m not married yet, I don’t have the exact reason,” he said. “Some things in life, you don’t have the exact reason why you’re not. I know that I haven’t been ready; I know there’s other reasons in my life. “My father was killed when I was 3 years old, and my mother was a very strong woman and she said, ‘Well I loved your father and I’m not gonna have another man around. There’s not gonna be anyone else around, and that’s how it’s gonna be.’ But then on the flip side, I never got a chance to see the way a family lives.” Diddy, however, insisted he wasn’t making excuses, just giving up some details about his background. He then opened up about the three mothers of his six children: “It’s like a movie,” he said. The Bad Boy Records CEO said he met the women all in the same year, roughly. “At different times in my life, as my heart got broken by one, I cried on the shoulder of another,” he revealed. That explanation led co-host Joy Behar to quip, “like ‘Big Love,’ ” referring to HBO’s polygamy drama, which drew laughs from the audience. “It wasn’t at the same time,” Diddy responded. “Life isn’t something you can predict. Every woman that I was with, that I had a child with, they did deserve for me to marry them. But there’s things going on in my life … I’m not gonna say it’s all the way me, but I’ll take responsibility as a man.” After making those revelations, Diddy was ready to hit the stage. He was joined by his Diddy-Dirty Money ladies, Dawn Richard and Kaleena, for a performance of “Coming Home.” What do you think of Diddy’s remarks about marriage? Tell us in the comments! Golden Globes Snub ‘Lost,’ Embrace ‘Walking Dead’

The always-unpredictable Hollywood Foreign Press Association delivered some surprises in the TV categories. By Aly Semigran The cast of “Lost” Photo: ABC While the Emmys often serve up nods to the same old favorites, year after year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Globes are beloved for their unpredictability. In the TV category, the domination of shows like “Glee” and “Mad Men” wasn’t too surprising, but there were plenty of out-of-left-field choices and sad-face snubs to keep awards-show junkies amused on Tuesday morning (December 14). (Here’s a complete list of the 2011 Golden Globe nominations .) In the drama acting categories, a Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama nomination for Katey Sagal for her work on FX drama “Sons of Anarchy” ( The Atlantic raved that Sagal gave a “riveting performance as matriarch of a corrupt biker family”) may have been overshadowed by the “Huh?” factor of “Covert Affairs” star Piper Perabo also being placed on the list. Fans of AMC’s bloody good newcomer “The Walking Dead,” should be thrilled to see the show nominated with established heavyweights such as “Mad Men” and “Dexter” for Best Television Series – Drama. Another new show, HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” snagged a nod in the category. But devotees of the shows left off the drama list are bound to be vocal about the oversights. HBO’s “True Blood” and “Big Love” were left out. And after a love-it-or-hate-it series finale, bragging rights for biggest snub goes to “Lost,” which was shut out of the running completely. The groundbreaking show kept fans’ interest until the very end (especially with strong turns by cast members Michael Emerson, Terry O’Quinn and Matthew Fox), but apparently not the HFPA. The often-snubbed “Friday Night Lights” received zero nominations during a year that included stand-out performances by its cast (particularly Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and Zach Gilford). “Come on, Golden Globes, no ‘Friday Night Lights,’ either?” ( Entertainment Weekly ‘s Ken Tucker complained. Elsewhere, Christina Hendrick’s continually impressive work on “Mad Men” (including tackling story lines of infidelity and pregnancy) somehow was overlooked. ( USA Today noticed some more obvious snubs including, “Breaking Bad” ‘s Aaron Paul, the 2010 Emmy winner for supporting actor in a drama, and “The Good Wife” ‘s Archie Panjabi, who took the Emmy last fall for best supporting actress in a drama. There were hardly any stunners in the comedic acting categories, except for, perhaps, the inclusion of “Hung” star Thomas Jane in
