‘He was honest and said exactly what the audience was thinking,’ fan Adam Lichtenstein says at show taping. By Uptin Saiidi Howard Stern outside “America’s Got Talent” auditions in New York Photo: Bobby Bank/WireImage Talent-competition show “America’s Got Talent” doesn’t premiere until May 14, but hundreds of fans came out to see tapings of the show in New York this week. When MTV News spoke to fans waiting to go into an audition taping Thursday afternoon (April 12), most said they were there because they’re fans of new judge Howard Stern, and some admitted they’d never even seen “AGT.” “He was honest and said exactly what the audience was thinking, and I think it’s going to add a big thing to the show,” Adam Lichtenstein, a fan so impressed by Stern he returned for a second day of taping, told MTV News. “Going into the show, we expected Howard to be a little bit mean, but he was honest, exactly like he was on the radio, and he didn’t let down.” Since the announcement came in December that Stern will be taking the place of Piers Morgan on the show, viewers have had mixed reactions , but most seem eager to check out his judging style. Joey Boots, a frequent contributor on Stern’s Sirius XM radio show, weighed in on what Howard will be like as a judge. “He’s been judging on his show for all these years, but a lot of people haven’t tuned in to the Howard Stern show because they hear how raunchy it can be. Now that he’s with ‘AGT,’ people are going to see how honest he is as a judge.” Howard’s new place at the table may mean his loyal fanbase could get even bigger. Boots observed people’s opinions change at the first show tapings. “I already talked to people before they’ve gone in talking about, ‘Oh, I don’t like Howard Stern,’ but after they come out they’re like, ‘I love the guy.’ To see that is great and I think that’s great for America, it’s great for Howard Stern and it’s great for ‘America’s Got Talent.’ ” When it came to how Howard might get along with fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel, Boots admitted things might get rocky. “I’m sure there’s going to be arguing going on because he’s going to keep it real, and part of that is disagreeing with each other and I know that there’s gonna be a lot of disagreements, but it’s good. Hopefully everybody just keeps it real. That’s Howard’s motto.” With an unprecedented amount of talent-based reality shows hitting the small screen these days, it’s Stern’s straightforward style that might ultimately keep viewers turning in. “That’s what a show like this needs. Not somebody that’s going to be pressured like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna vote him in because I feel sorry for him.’ I don’t want somebody voted in favor of because they might be old or something, or it’s a little kid. Hey, if you’re not talented, get off the stage!”

‘America’s Got Talent’ Gets Strong Support From Howard Stern Fans
This couple really ain’t isht ! Two Chicago parents left their two children alone for the weekend while they flew to Las Vegas for the weekend with some friends. Shanpreta Howard and Antowain Johnson were charged with child endangerment after they left their 9-year-old daughter and the-12-year-old son alone to fend for themselves. The couple left Chicago on the evening of Wednesday February 22 and did not return until Friday afternoon. Their son’s teacher called police once he told her that he and his sister were alone at home while their parents were in Nevada. The parents did not make an effort to hide their ‘Hangover’ style trip, frequently posting about their plans on Facebook. Both during and after their trip, they added photos of the Las Vegas sights. Johnson even updated his status at one point to say: ‘Bout to hit the Strip Club’. In the days leading up to the trip, Howard posted about how she was getting her nails done and was ‘ready to go n enjoy myself’. Johnson even commented on that post, saying it would be ‘Hangover 3′. Pictures and posts confirm that they went with six other friends to enjoy their weekend away. In spite of the fact that they left their children unattended for days, they do appear to be loving parents. They both frequently mention their children in posts. ‘LOVE OUT KIDS WITH ALL OUR HEART N WILL TRAVEL TO THE END OF THE WORLD FOR THEM #PROUDPARENTS’ was one such post by Howard. On their son’s 13th birthday this past Friday, both Howard and Johnson said that they felt blessed and that they loved him. Johnson and Howard turned themselves in to police on Tuesday. What the hell?? Director has wanted to bring story of Tuskegee Airmen to big screen for nearly 25 years. By Kevin P. Sullivan Terrence Howard Photo: MTV News George Lucas made a name for himself in the late ’70s and ’80s with “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones,” but for nearly 25 years, the director tried to bring one story to the big screen, a movie he wasn’t able to make until now. After decades in development, “Red Tails,” Lucas’ tale of the Tuskegee Airmen, will finally hit theaters. The story of Lucas’ battle to get “Red Tails” in front of the camera only added to the significance of the story for many of the cast and crew. Terrence Howard plays Col. A.J. Bullard, one of the commanders of the Tuskegee Airmen, America’s first African-American air regimen. The actor told MTV News that Lucas’ passion set the tone for the entire project. “Well, he has complete control of the Force. As far as I understand it, he invented the Force,” Howard said. “It’s quite a moving inertia associated with it. You believe in him, and when he says something, he follows it all the way through.” According to Howard, having such a strong backing force changed the way the actors approached the film and their roles. “It gives us a great deal of encouragement walking into the roles,” he said. “We know that we’re going to be 100 percent supported.” Like any Lucas project, “Red Tails” comes with the technical wizardry that made the man a legend. “When you look at the final project and you look at these fight scenarios, you can’t believe that it’s not real,” Howard said. “It looks tangible, and it’s wonderful to be able to say ‘George Lucas manned this, created this vessel that Anthony Hemingway was able to direct.’ We become moving parts of this incredible armada.” Do you plan to see ‘Red Tails’ in theaters? The controversial radio host is replacing Piers Morgan as the newest judge on “America’s Got Talent,” and the news definitely has people talking. “I feel like the families who are watching it are going to be like, ‘What is this guy doing on this show?’ ” Mike Ruffalo told MTV News when we took to the streets to find out what people were thinking about the controversial move. Other fans were not as concerned. “It’s great publicity for ‘America’s Got Talent,’ ” said Carol John. Indeed, the news has definitely drawn a lot of attention to the Nick Cannon-hosted competition show, but will that mean more viewers? “Howard Stern is a funny, crazy dude. I will definitely be in there watching it,” said Gabriel Garcia, proving that, for at least one fan, having Stern on the show is a major draw. John was interested but felt a little more trepidation when she told us, “I’ll definitely at least tune in to the first episode that he’s on, just to see how he approaches the show and the kinds of critiques he gives to the acts that perform.” Regardless of what people think about Howard Stern, the general consensus is that having him on “America’s Got Talent” is a great move for the show. A day after Piers Morgan resigned his post as a judge on America’s Got Talent , The Wall Street Journal reports that radio icon Howard Stern is under consideration for the gig. Stern – who expressed interest awhile back in replacing Simon Cowell on American Idol – would reportedly sign a deal for $15 million per year, while continuing to host his Sirius XM show in New York, a fact that might necessitate NBC moving the AGT studio across the country. The pros of Stern coming on board America’s Got Talent ? He’s very popular and outspoken. He would certainly bring a fresh voice to to the show. Among the cons?
