Dumb rappers need teachin’ Fat Joe Faces 2 Years In Prison After Pleading Guilty To Tax Evasion Via Miami Herald Rap star “Fat Joe” faces up to two years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to failing to pay taxes on nearly $3 million in income over two years. The performer, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, entered the plea in federal court in New Jersey because some of the companies he earns money from are incorporated there. The 42-year-old Miami Beach, Fla., resident entered pleas to two counts covering years 2007 and 2008 but his sentencing will take into consideration the government’s initial allegation that he failed to pay income taxes for years 2007 through 2010. Federal prosecutors said the total tax loss to the government for those four years was $718,038. Cartagena lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman said his client “had already taken steps to resolve this situation” before he was charged. He said the rapper hoped to pay back the taxes by the time of his sentencing April 3. Looks like some of that “Make It Rain” money was supposed to go to the government. It’s been a sad couple of days for Jenni Rivera’s family, friends, and fans. The 42-year-old Latina superstar died in a tragic plane crash Sunday, December 9 near Monterrey, Mexico. Jenni was traveling on a private jet early Sunday with six others on the flight when it went missing. She was presumed dead when the wreckage was discovered Sunday afternoon with no survivors. According to US Weekly , her family released a statement and shared some information about the singer/reality star you may not have known: “We are feeling devastated. It’s a devastation to the family,” Rivera’s brother, Pedro Rivera Jr., told E! News. “We don’t know how to thank you for all the love you gave to Jenni and to all the family. It is just so special to have you guys as fans.” As family, celebs and fans are mourning her death, Us Weekly remembers the late singer’s life and career with five facts. 1. She sold over 15 million albums worldwide. The singer was nominated in 2003, 2008 and 2010 at the Latin Grammys. Rivera was the first female Banda singer (a brass-based form of traditional Mexican music) to sell out at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, Calif. “I’m happy, I’m very happy for the success that I’ve had, but I’ve worked so hard at it,” Rivera said in April at Billboard’s Latin Music Conference (via CNN). 2. The daughter of Mexican immigrants, she was born and raised in Long Beach, Calif. Rivera, with one sister and and four brothers. 3. She is survived by five children. Rivera became pregnant with her first child in high school. She had three children with first husband Jose Trinidad Marin: Janney, Jacqueline and Michael. After the couple divorced in 1992, she remarried in 1997 and had two children with second husband Juan Lopez: Jenicka and Johnny. “Being a mother by far is my favorite and most important career,” she told Parade in August 2012. “They take priority over anything else.” 4. She was a reality television star. Rivera appeared in and produced mun2′s Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis & Raq-C in 2010, I Love Jenni in 2011 and Chiquis ‘n Control in 2012. “People kind of connect and identify with us because we are normal,” Rivera told Parade in August 2012 of her reality show. “We’re just like another other Mexican-American family. We are kind of nutty and silly.” 5. She was set to star in her own ABC show, Jenni. According to Deadline, she was going to star in the self-titled family comedy as a middle-class, single woman raising a family with unique parenting skills. BIG mistake buddy… Diners Call “Fat Girl” On Their Restaurant Bill Via Huffington Post When three friends finished their meal at a California restaurant, they did not expect to be insulted on the bill. That is exactly what happened to Christine Duran, Christina Huerta and Isabel Robles when they visited Chilly D’s Sports Lounge, part of the Cameo Club Casino, in Stockton, Calif., according to ABC affiliate News 10. When the three diners got their check they saw “fat girls” written on their bill. “I got the bill, and I was like, why does the receipt say, ‘fat girls?’” Duran told News 10. At first, her friends didn’t even believe her. “[Huerta] was like, ‘You’re lying,’ And I was like, ‘No, I’m serious. Look at it.’ She was like, ‘fat girls?’” When their server returned, the three girls questioned him about the “fat girls” label, but the waiter denied any wrongdoing, according to News 10. He said an employee named “Jeff,” whose name appears on the receipt, must have typed “fat girls” into the system to keep track of their bill. A manager went over to explain the “fat girls” check, but he “had like a smirk on his face, like it was funny but trying not to laugh,” Duran told ABC News. Instead of clearing all charges, he offered a discount of 25 percent and then a discount of 50 percent, but the women rejected the offers. Mr. Bush, the son and brother of the last two Republican presidents, is “weighing financial and family considerations,” according to people close to the former governor, the Times reported. The governor, who speaks Spanish and is married to a woman born in Mexico, has called for a more inclusive approach to immigration policies for the Republican Party and could help restore the party’s diminished appeal among Hispanics. Mr. Bush, 59, has worked as a consultant and managed his education foundation since leaving the governorship in 2007 in Florida, where he is still popular. A Public Policy Polling survey taken earlier this month showed Mr. Bush and fellow Floridian Sen. Marco Rubio – who considers the former governor a political mentor – are the early presidential favorites among Florida Republicans, with Mr. Bush leading the 41-year-old senator, 28 percent to 22 percent. According to TMZ : Hector “Macho” Camacho is in critical condition after being SHOT multiple times in Puerto Rico tonight … this according to multiple reports. The former boxing champ was reportedly in the passenger seat of a car around 7 PM local time … when another vehicle rolled up and someone opened fire … striking Camacho several times in the neck and face. The driver of Camacho’s car was reportedly killed in the attack. According to reports, Camacho was taken to a hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
