Lionsgate has already booked a November 2013 release date for the wildly-anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games , Catching Fire . But might the studio have trouble meeting this deadline? The question arises because negotiations aren’t going smoothly with director Gary Ross, who executives want to return based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews for the first installment of the franchise. Ross earned $3 million for The Hunger Games – plus back-end profits – and, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter, is angling for a major sequel raise . All other major players have signed on for both Catching Fire and Mockingjay – from Jennifer Lawrence to Liam Hemsworth – so the only real hold-up at the moment is Ross. The film could always take on a new director, of course, but an insider sees that as unlikely. “Ultimately, it will be difficult, and yet everybody will do the sane thing, which is to work it out. Everybody will end up unhappy in their own way. It’s just the nature of the beast.”

There’s no doubt that John Cena will be pumped when he enters the ring Sunday night (April 1) against the Rock for the main event at WrestleMania XXVIII , and MTV News’ 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC Machine Gun Kelly will have a little something to do with that. When the 6-foot-1, 251-pound John Cena makes his way to the square, MGK’s “Invincible” will be blaring through the sound system at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Rock, meanwhile, has chosen to march out to a Flo Rida tune. “Any Flo Rida song will get you excited, will make the club move, but I heard Machine Gun Kelly’s ‘Invincible’ and I wanted to fight somebody,” Cena told MTV News about the Bad Boy Records signee. Cena knows a thing or two about hip-hop music. In 2005, he released his debut rap album, You Can’t See Me, and he sees a ton of promise in MGK. “You can tell he’s hungry. I think that’s when your true love for hip-hop shows, when you’re hungry enough to put your heart and soul into a track, into a record,” he said. “I met this kid in person, the music does him justice. The kid’s hungry, man. He’s gonna be at WrestleMania and I’m happy for him. Hopefully he can keep the momentum going.” The Cena-vs.-Rock match is being billed as the biggest WWE match of all time, and JC is taking it very seriously. He promised that the Rock will both “pee and crap” himself in the ring when they square-off. “I got you, man,” Cena warned the wrestler-turned-actor. “I know things about you that you don’t even know about yourself,” he said, addressing the Rock, who’s taking a short break from Hollywood to return to the ring, directly. “April 1, we’re gonna see who the greatest of all time is.” Who do you think will win the main event at WrestleMania XXVIII? Lord help us… Alabama Nightclub Promotes “Food Stamp Fridays” MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A nightclub in Alabama’s capital city has come up with a unique theme night involving food support for needy families. The Rose Supper Club in Montgomery will host a “Food Stamp Friday” theme night in April. A flyer for the April 6, 2012 event says that entrance will be $5 up until 10:30 p.m. with a valid food stamp card and free shots will be given at the door. Manager Harman Wilson says the night is meant to complement the club’s other theme nights, such as Fat Tuesday, Karaoke Wednesday or Thirsty Thursday. Wilson says patrons will not be able to use their food stamps to buy alcoholic beverages. He says he hopes the novel approach will draw people to the club. Human Resources Department spokesman Barry Sparks says the department does not approve of the promotion. And those die-hards are not taking kindly to suggestions that Jennifer Lawrence is too curvy to play Katniss Everdeen . Much of the backlash stems from New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis’ review of the film, in which she wrote: “A few years ago Ms. Lawrence might have looked hungry enough to play Katniss, but now, at 21, her seductive, womanly figure makes a bad fit for a dystopian fantasy about a people starved into submission.” On Wednesday, when MTV News checked in with “Hunger Games” experts for their feelings on the subject, many of you took to our comments section and our Twitter to let us know just how much you disagree with Dargis’ take on the lead actress. MTV.com reader DavidB presented this quote from Suzanne Collins’ book, in which Katniss describes her own body: “I stand straight, and while I’m thin, I’m strong. The meat and plants from the woods combined with the exertion it took to get them have given me a healthier body than most of those I see around me.” Another commenter, GrantGibbs1, wrote, “Jennifer Lawrence is the perfect Katniss Everdeen! She’s not even fat??? First racist comments now weight issues,” the commenter added, in reference to the issues some moviegoers have had over Rue being played by a black actress. For many fans and readers, it’s not about accuracy, but respect and admiration for Jennifer Lawrence as an actress, as well as defending young women from the pressures that create body issues. She’s like, ‘Come in, sorry, you’re early, I was about to shower.’ And she drops her towel and gets in the shower, and starts shaving her legs, totally naked. She was like, ‘Are we here yet? While Lionsgate continues to celebrate the oodles of money flowing in as a result of The Hunger Games , another movie studio is also doing cartwheels: Relativity Media. Why? Because that studio is behind The House at the End of the Street , a September 21 release that stars Katniss Everdeen herself, Jennifer Lawrence. The film is your basic horror flick: Lawrence stars as Ellisa, the daughter of Elisabeth Shue’s Sarah, who moves to a small-town house and starts to discover some chilling secrets about the residence and the area around them.
