Michael Bay Will Reboot Transformers 4 for 2014

Speaking with MTV, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed general details on a fourth planned movie in Paramount’s Oscar-nominated Transformers series, which will indeed see Michael Bay returning behind the camera. (First, however, he may finally shoot his bodybuilding crime pic Pain & Gain .) Though it’s expected we’ll see main robot characters like Optimus Prime return, summer of 2014’s Transformers 4 — Trans4mers ? Tr4nsformers ? — will be a reboot, di Lorenzo says, because of course we need a Transformers reboot already. Of course. [ MTV ]

Watch Taylor Swift’s Hunger Games Music Video: ‘Safe & Sound’

When I first heard Taylor Swift ‘s Hunger Games soundtrack single, the twangy country ballad “Safe & Sound,” I wasn’t so keen on how Swifty channeled teen heroine Katniss Everdeen, T-Bone Burnett’s support or no. (I did, however, dig the gentle melodics of country folk duo The Civil Wars, who back Swift on the song and share songwriting credits with her and Burnett.) Now the music video for the single has debuted, a dreamy nature-themed joint that lovingly follows Swift as she traipses barefoot around the woods sharing meaningful glances with deer and twigs. While “Safe & Sound” has grown on me as a song, I still can’t totally sign off on Swift as a Katniss figure (the lyrics are inspired by Suzanne Collins’ book, and suggest the inner life of Katniss as she leaves her family behind in District 12 to fight in the Games). But Swift is lovely to look at, even if this video could easily be passed off as an Anthropologie ad or, you know, a tribute to Cold Mountain . The backdrop is a nice nod to Katniss’s imagined home in the region otherwise known as the Appalachians, where District 12 has been delineated in the nation of Panem in The Hunger Games trilogy. And, look! Swift finds a mockingjay pin in her disheveled country cabin! I’d have loved to have seen Swift pick up a bow and arrow and go hunt down that deer, or hide from intruders in the dirt, or wrassle with a gang of murderous youngsters, but I get it. She’s Taylor Swift. She is pristine in her white muslin dress, warbling beautiful melodies all alone in her thoughtful solitude. She is more Primrose than Katniss. Meanwhile, the shortest stick drawn goes to Joy Williams of The Civil Wars, who’s stuck playing third fiddle to Swift. For a full minute I thought she was playing Katniss’s near-catatonic mother. Anyways, check it out below and tell us what you think – an appropriate accompaniment to the March 23 pic? Taylor Swift’s Finest ‘First’ Moments

Swift premieres her ‘Hunger Games’ video ‘Safe & Sound’ on ‘MTV First: Taylor Swift’ Monday (February 13), followed by an exclusive chat. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift Photo: MTV News Taylor Swift will sit down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway on Monday (February 13) for “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” during which she will premiere her video for “Safe & Sound,” followed by an exclusive 30-minute chat. Swift isn’t new at getting the “First” treatment. In May 2011, she sat down with Sway for “MTV First” to premiere her video for “The Story of Us.” During their interview, Swift got personal, even sharing what she loves to do most in her hometown of Nashville, among other things. Before Monday’s latest installment of “MTV First” with Ms. Swift, MTV News is taking a look back at her finest revelations from the May 2011 episode. What does Taylor like to do in Nashville? “Nashville … you want to go to Hillsboro Village ’cause it’s really cute — this little bohemian shopping district. It’s walking distance from my place. There’s this coffee place, Fido, that I love. There’s a restaurant called City House that’s really cool,” she said. “I love the grocery store. The grocery store’s one of my favorite places.” Where’s the weirdest place she’s ever written a song? “The weirdest place I have ever written a song is probably in an airport, and I got an idea so fast that I just had to run to the bathroom at the airport, grab a paper towel and write lyrics on the paper towel,” she said. “I still have it. I still have it in a box in my room.” What place in time would Taylor most want to travel to if she could? “I would want to see, probably, New York City around the turn of the century,” she said. ” ‘Cause, you know, it looks drastically different now than how it probably looked back then, and I just think that would be really exciting.” So, how much do Sway and Swift like each other? “That was a wonderful, wonderful experience,” she said of meeting Sway for the first time in 2008 for the MTV special “Once Upon a Prom.” From there, the pair relived all their greatest interview moments — including chats on red carpets for shows like the VMAs and the Grammy Awards . The gentlemanly Sway later handed her flowers. And so it seems there’s no lack of love there. Come Monday night, expect Sway and Taylor to make more memories, and you never know what interesting insider tidbits Swift will share. “Safe & Sound” is the lead single off the “Hunger Games” soundtrack and features the Civil Wars. Following Monday’s video premiere — which will also air live on MTV’s channels in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa — the Grammy-nominated singer will sit down with Sway for a 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Taylor Swift Hits Stage With Civil Wars At Grammys

Swift performs her newly Grammy-winning track ‘Mean’ following a performance by her ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack collaborators. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift performs at the 2012 Grammy Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Taylor Swift ‘s opening act for her 2012 Grammy Awards performance was her “Hunger Games” soundtrack collaborators the Civil Wars, who took the stage to perform their track “Barton Hallow.” The duo praised Swift for already winning two prizes for the night, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Mean.” “It’s our great honor to welcome a two-time winner already tonight, our friend Taylor Swift,” they said before the singer took the stage. Playing a banjo, Swift wore a baggy light-pink dress and her hair done up in a loose braid for her performance of her Grammy-winning song. Her band, also wearing vintage-style clothing, backed her surrounded by abandoned-looking relics like big wooden doors and floorboards that evoked the country twang of the track. Check out photos from the Grammys red carpet 2012. Mid-song, Swift made her way across the stage, keeping the honky-tonk going, as she sassily looked into the camera and sang the Speak Now track. As she wrapped up the performance, she earned a standing ovation, and in true Swift style, she seemed stunned by all the love radiating her way. The video for Taylor and the Civil Wars’ “Hunger Games” song “Safe & Sound” will premiere on “MTV First: Taylor Swift” on Monday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by an exclusive chat with Swift. After Monday’s video premiere — which will also air live on MTV’s channels in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa — the Grammy winner will sit down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway for a 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel and Other Victoria’s Secret Angels for a Vman Calendar of the Day

VMAN made a calendar featuring 12 Victoria’s Secret angels in some 50s style jackets, wearing some 50s style vintage lingerie, rocking some prety intense cleavage and ending out my horribly hungover day just a little better but still horrible than it normally would be….it’s simple, get these girls out of Victoria’s Secret airbrushed nippless and vagina lipless campaigns and into some better concept stuff that may not be as half naked but that is less fucking repetitive than their played out – tried – tested and bullshit evil corporation marketing tool robots act that brought them fame and fortunes…… Calendars may be stupid, dated, and only used by elderly and mechanics but here are the pics…. , Doutzen Kroes, Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel

Macaulay Culkin Photos: Home Alone Too Long?!

They say the camera adds 10 pounds, but there are exceptions to every rule. A skinny, scruffy Macaulay Culkin resurfaced in N.Y. City yesterday and photos of him first posted on Entertainment Tonight have generated a lot of buzz online. A rep for the former child star slams speculation that the star is struggling in any way, despite his dramatically thinner appearance. Check it out below: Macaulay Culkin Photos The rep said: “Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health. For ET or any other media to speculate otherwise is thoughtless, irresponsible and destructive.” Explains a source of the shocking Macaulay Culkin photos: “He is just so thin naturally, so when he loses one pound it just looks like more.” A second insider cautions that Culkin has had “emotional issues” for years. Culkin and Friend with Benefits actress Mila Kunis called off their low-key, eight-year relationship in late 2010. He has not personally addressed the photos.

Taylor Swift: Dumped by Eddie Redmayne?

Poor Taylor Swift. Not only did this singer recently lose out on a role in Les Miserables (the part of Eponine went to Samantha Barks instead), but she reportedly lost a new love interest in the process. According to Us Weekly , Taylor met British actor Eddie Redmayne ( My Week with Marilyn ) while auditioning for the character in October 2011 and “they hung out in New York City with the movie’s execs. Taylor developed feelings for him fast.” Redmayne, who actually attended Eton College with Prince William, felt something for Swift, as well, an insider confirms, meeting up with her on January 24 in London and staying over the next night in Taylor’s hotel room. It’s unclear why. Alas, Swift returned home, learned she did NOT win the part in Les Miserables and then received doubly bad news: Redmayne was “not interested in a long-distance relationship,” this source says. Seriously, will Swift’s guitar ever be free from tear drops?!? [Photos: WENN.com]

‘Hunger Games’ Won’t Be Narrated By Katniss

Director Gary Ross tells MTV News the first-person perspective will be shown ‘cinematically,’ not through voice-over. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Gary Ross Photo: MTV News For our fellow “Hunger Games” fans who are following each and every detail released about the upcoming big-screen adaptation, one of the key questions is how the filmmakers will address the fact that a large amount of the story is told via Katniss’ inner monologue. Will we be hearing Jennifer Lawrence narrate throughout the film via voice-over or will we see the action from multiple characters’ perspectives? Today is our lucky day, because we have an answer straight from director Gary Ross himself, who told MTV News recently that after much careful consideration he is not using any voice-over. “I’m not using voice-over for her. This thing is all from Katniss’ perspective,” he said of the story. “It is a first-person point of view. How do we put the viewer immediately and urgently in that experience they had when they read the book and they’re in Katniss Everdeen’s shoes? A lot of that is done cinematically. I spent a lot of time wondering and thinking about at the beginning of this process, ‘What does it really mean to be in the character’s point of view cinematically?’ I looked at a lot of really interesting references for that, but it comes down to: You don’t know more than the character knows.” Ross said we will be experiencing everything from Katniss’ perspective; we just won’t be hearing her talk us through it. “You wonder about what she’s wondering about, you worry about what she’s worrying about,” he explained. “You don’t know things she doesn’t know, and as such, you wander and experience things through her eyes, so that’s the first job: How do we make people feel they’re walking in Katniss’ shoes and encountering the same obstacles and challenges she is?” he said. “A lot is done cinematically and a lot is having someone as good as Jen Lawrence.” The “Pleasantville” and “Seabiscuit” helmer was cagey when asked about the specific look and style of the film but did promise they did everything they could to make things as realistic and believable as possible. “I don’t want to start giving specific scenes away, I know you understand that. I will say movies can do a lot in imagery where you can assimilate at lot of the world there pretty quickly,” he said when asked how much backstory he felt he needed to include or whether he’ll just jump right into the story at the start of the film. “The trick there is to make the world as real and as specific as it was when you read the book, be very precise about the production design and what this world looks like, and I think we’ve created a pretty vivid world.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
