At least one bus driver in Singapore had to, that is, as footage of the unnamed man clipping his own nails behind the wheel went viral late last month. After looking into the incident, the bus company fired this employee on August 15, mostly for endangering his passengers… but partly for being an idiot, we’d have to imagine. Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch last night in Boston, an event that led to the eruption of the Fenway Park crowd, the ejection of Yankees manager Joe Girardi and general chaos. Red Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster, clearly trying to send a message, drew cheers from the fans when his first pitch to the reviled star went behind his knees in the second inning. With his fourth pitch in the at-bat, he drilled A-Rod in the shoulder. It was awesome. A-Rod, who is playing as he appeals his 211-game suspension for steroid use, got the last laugh, later hitting his second asterisk-laden home run of the season. A couple of knife-wielding thieves broke into a cafe in Northumberland this week, causing police cars to swarm the premises and cops to engage in a five-hour standoff with the young men… all because they apparently had a specific craving. “They were hungry and wanted some quiche,” explained British restaurant owner Angela Marshall. “There was a bit of money in the till, but I think they just wanted food and then it got out of hand.” Fortunately, no one was injured and the 20-year old and 21-year old were eventually arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
