It feels like Iggy Azalea has one more problem after another without Hefe Wine, her former boyfriend who hit her with a divorce filing earlier today. Hefe Wine filed for divorce , citing a common law marriage in Texas that they allegedly entered into and would entitle him to half of Azalea’s assets. The Australian rapper, 24, denies that they were ever married, finding his claim desperate and laughable at best, and a malicious scheme at worst. Hefe Wine, a.k.a. Jefe Wine , a.k.a. Maurice Williams, leans on Texas’ definition of common law marriage in the legal docs stating that he’s Mr. Azalea. They “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September 2008,” he says. Texas defines the institution as a man and a woman who have declared their marriage, live together as man and wife, and “[represent] to others that they [are] married.” That’s not vague at all. Predictably, Iggy denies that any of of the above applies, taking her former boyfriend to task for his shady motives and tactics. A representative for Azalea notes that she was 17 at the time, though Williams’ claim of September 2008 puts the rapper at just over 18 years old: “Iggy’s previous federal court complaint froze Mr. Williams’ ability to trade on her fame by profiting from music he stole from her,” says the rep for Azalea. As such, “he has resorted to elevating a predatory relationship with a 17-year-old girl into a sham ‘marriage’ claim unsupported by any certificate or evidence.” “It’s disappointing that this thief, felon, and fugitive is continuing to use the media to attack Iggy as part of his desperate and despicable attempt to keep himself in the press.” Azalea (real name Amethyst Kelly) is already in an ongoing legal struggle with Williams, as she sued him last month over the possession of her recordings. Further, a rumored Iggy Azalea sex tape was shopped around this past summer, purporting to show Williams with Iggy, who may have been underage.
