‘X Factor’: Rihanna Calls Brian Bradley ‘A Mini J. Cole’

Enrique Iglesias and Pharrell Williams also help out judges, while Mariah Carey can’t make it across the pond. By Adam Graham Rihanna and L.A. Reid Photo: FOX Half of the 32 “X Factor” semifinalists performed on Thursday’s (October 13) episode, which was delayed by a day due to Fox’s coverage of Major League Baseball . The contestants ventured off to their mentors’ luxurious homes and strutted their stuff in front of them, each vying for one of 16 spots in the finals. In three out of four cases, the judges were joined by a super-special celebrity guest: In Santa Barbara, California, Paula Abdul was accompanied by Pharrell Williams ; Enrique Iglesias was coupled with Nicole Scherzinger in Malibu, California; and Rihanna was by L.A. Reid’s side at his cozy estate in the Hamptons, New York. Meanwhile, over in France, Simon Cowell was stood up by Mariah Carey , whose plane was grounded by Hurricane Irene. When it was time to make decisions, a vocal coach and a team of music producers were there to give their impressions to Cowell, whose backyard, it should be noted, houses an absolutely enormous swimming pool. Simon’s pool aside, it was Rihanna who was the episode’s MVP. Not only did she help provide Reid feedback on the contestants, but three of them performed her songs, including Seattle crooner Phillip Lomax, who took RiRi by surprise with his laid-back, Sinatra-style take on “Don’t Stop the Music.” Other singers taking on Rihanna songs were Temecula, California, Bieber-hair-sporting brother duo the Brewer Boys, who did a Tejano version of “Only Girl in the World,” and James Kenney, who took on the emotionally charged “Russian Roulette.” As a judge, RiRi seemed most taken by pint-size 14-year-old rapper Brian “Astro” Bradley, whom she compared to “a mini J. Cole.” And the brimming-with-confidence Bradley didn’t hesitate to inform RiRi of his future plans with her, telling her frankly, “We will be doing a collab one day.” The Carey-less Cowell is tasked with mentoring the girls in the competition, and the standouts included 14-year-old Drew Ryniewicz, whose slowed, hushed take on Roxette’s “It Must Have Been Love” was called “magic” by the tight-T-shirted one, and rugby bruiser Caitlyn Koch, whose “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” caused Cowell to praise her pitch and tone. Cowell also enjoyed Simone Battle’s piano-ballad version of the Beatles’ “Help,” but he seemed less sure about Tora Woloshin’s electro version of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”: “It doesn’t quite get to me,” a puzzled Cowell explained. In the groups category, Salt Lake City, Utah, trio the Anser impressed Paula and Pharrell with their version of Pink’s “Perfect,” though Pharrell seemed perplexed by a group member’s decision to leave his striking red-framed glasses off during the performance. Virginia Beach quartet 4Shore were praised for their sound take on Brownstone’s “If You Love Me,” though Pharrell suggested the group needs to “dirty up their style a little bit.” And both the judges and the members of Lakoda Rayne seemed to agree something was “off” during their performance of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” not surprising, considering the group was Frankenstein’d together by the judges and had never previously performed together as a unit. In the category of the Olds — sorry, the “Over 30s” — 53-year-old Elaine Gibbs and 42-year-old Stacy Francis stood out with their versions of Oasis’ “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” and Prince’s “Purple Rain,” respectively. (Of the latter’s, which seemingly echoed throughout the canyons of Malibu, Iglesias marveled, “I think the neighbors heard that.”) But the most memorable performance (for all the wrong reasons) came from formerly homeless 49-year-old Dexter Haygood, who strutted like Mick Jagger and kicked his legs in the air like David Lee Roth while screaming his way through Beyonc

Enrique Iglesias kissing fans Melissa Picture

In July, Enrique Iglesias had a young girl named Melissa “thinking dirty thoughts” when he sang “Hero” to her and kissed her after his performance on the Today show. Female fans of Enrique Iglesias are some very lucky ladies. The Spanish popstar, 35, often gets so carried away while performing he freely gives away kisses to audience members. Just last week, Iglesias kissed another fan at the Jingle Ball concert in Boston. Then he kept up his smooching spree by locking lips with yet another fa

Enrique Iglesias Recalls Being Dumped Before Prom On ‘When I Was 17’

‘I had no luck with the ladies,’ the singer admits in the latest episode airing this Saturday at 11 a.m. By Mawuse Ziegbe Enrique Iglesias appears on “When I was 17” Photo: MTV News He’s known for his legions of female fans and for spending years with leggy tennis phenom Anna Kournikova on his arm. But back in the day, Enrique Iglesias says he was far from a ladies’ man. “I had no luck with the ladies,” Iglesias reminisces on the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday at 11 a.m. The Latin pop heartthrob, who was 17 in the early ’90s, recalls striking out with a lady friend before one of the biggest nights in most teenagers’ lives: prom. “I was going to prom with this girl that I really liked and she said that she had decided that she wasn’t gonna go with me. It was devastating,” the singer reveals. “When you’re in high school and a few weeks before prom the girl you’re going with says no, it’s awful. At the time, my whole world came crumbling down.” Iglesias, who has gone on to chart-topping international success with romantic hits like “Hero” and “Escape,” concedes that he didn’t take the pre-prom dis very well. “I probably did cry. I hate to admit that now, it’s kind of embarrassing,” Iglesias says, shaking his head as he mutters, “Such a wuss.” Despite the drama, Iglesias ended up heading to the prom without a date and having a blast. “I went to my prom alone. I know it sounds awful, but I went with my friends. I had a good time,” Iglesias said. Now the “Bailamos” crooner can look back on the experience with a laugh and a message for other teens facing prom night without a dream date. “For all you guys out there: It’s OK to go to prom by yourself,” Iglesias assures viewers. “You don’t need a date for prom.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Iglesias, Kelly Rowland and Stephanie Pratt — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Eminem Tops Billboard For Third Week

Drake holds steady at #2, while Big Boi’s solo debut comes in at #3. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images Now that Eminem is back on top of the charts, it looks like Slim Shady isn’t planning on budging anytime soon. For the third week in a row, Em’s Recovery will hold on to the pole position this week, moving another 229,000 copies to push the disc close to the 1.3 million mark, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Also not budging is Drake , whose Thank Me Later holds steady in the #2 spot thanks to 74,000 more units served for a one-month total of more than 782,000. Coming in at the #3 position is the long-delayed official solo debut of Outkast’s Big Boi , Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which sold 62,000 copies. At #10 is the latest from Enrique Iglesias, Euphoria, which had a soft landing of 27,000. The rest of the top 10: Muse may be suddenly ambivalent about their placement in the vampire movies, but “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” soundtrack holds in there at #4 with sales of 45,000 for a five-week total just shy of 350,000. Justin Bieber is also mostly steady at #5 with My World 2.0 (43,000), followed by Now 34 (#6, 33,000), Jack Johnson ‘s To the Sea (#7, 30,000), Lady Gaga ‘s The Fame (#8, 29,000) and Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now (#9, 28,000). Though duet partner Miley Cyrus continues to move in the opposite direction with her more mature Can’t Be Tamed, dropping two spots to #11 on sales of 24,000, rejuvenated Poison rocker Bret Michaels has a decent showing at #14 with Custom Built, which debuts with 22,000. Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue is still trying to crack the code in America, as her Aphrodite sneaks into the top 20 at #19 on sales of 18,000. Meanwhile, jokey Colorado rap duo 3OH!3 shed 63 percent of their first-week business for Streets of Gold, dropping 16 spots to #23 (15,000). Incubus singer Brandon Boyd ‘s solo debut, The Wild Trapeze, swings in at #3 (11,000), Kelis ‘ hyped Flesh Tone album barely makes it into the top 50 at #48 (8,000) and Juvenile has to settle for a #58 debut for his Beast Mode (6,000). It continues to be all about Eminem on the iTunes charts as well. He holds on to the #1 position on the albums and singles tallies, as the Rihanna duet “Love the Way You Lie” climbs back into the single lead over Katy Perry ‘s Snoop Dogg-assisted “California Gurls.” The rest of the singles top 10 is mostly a reshuffling of the deck, with Iglesias coming in at #4 with “I Like It,” just behind Taio Cruz ‘s “Dynamite.” The rest of the singles list includes B.o.B (“Airplanes”), Travie McCoy (“Billionaire”), Mike Posner (“Cooler Than Me”), Jason Derulo (“Ridin’ Solo”), Eminem (“Not Afraid”) and Usher (“OMG”). (iTunes does not release sales figures for its charts.) Things get shaken up a bit more on the iTunes album chart, where Boi snags the #2 spot, followed by the “Eclipse” soundtrack, Drake, Boyd, Johnson, Minogue, Lady Gaga, Iglesias and a Daughtry compilation called Leave This Town: The B-Sides. Eminem’s probably safe for another week on the Billboard countdown, as the only competition in the rearview mirror will come from Korn , M.I.A. , a solo Sting , metal supergroup Hellyeah and the revamped Crowded House . Kim Kardashian Gets Her Own Madame Tussauds Wax Figure

‘I’d say she’s pretty hot,’ the reality star joked at the unveiling of her statue. By Jocelyn Vena Kim Kardashian poses with her wax figure at Madame Tussauds Photo: Gilbert Carrasquillo/ Getty Images NEW YORK — It wouldn’t be the first time Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus were in a room together, but it certainly marks the first time their wax figures will be. On Thursday (July 1) at Madame Tussauds in Times Square, the reality star unveiled the latest wax figure by the famed museum. And this one was of herself. For someone who is photographed as often as Kardashian, she is still reeling at the thought of standing next to an exact replica of herself. “When I first heard I was going to be immortalized, I was so honored,” she told MTV News at the unveiling event. “I mean, it’s a pretty cool thing. I called my sisters right away, and it looks so much like me, it’s scary. It’s probably one of the biggest honors, so [my sisters] were so excited for me.” So, how does Kardashian think the statue turned out? “It is weird! It’s like she’s prettier than I am. It’s so weird, like, my arms and the hands … everything about it is so exact that it’s weird to see yourself,” she laughed. “So now I can really see from an outsider’s point of view. It’s weird.” It really had us wondering what she would think of herself if she saw herself walking down the street. “I’d say she’s pretty hot!” she joked. “I’m just kidding. She has better hair than I do.” To add to the uncanny similarities between herself and her wax figure, Kardashian wore the same exact hot pink Herve Leger bandage dress the statue is wearing. “Well I wanted something that would represent my style, something tight and sexy and fun and flirty,” she explained, adding that there’s even a star or two she — or rather her statue — would like to be standing near. “There’s so many amazing, iconic people. Jennifer Lopez would be fun. Michael Jackson would be amazing.” How do you think Kim Kardashian’s statue compares to her? Tell us in the comments! Related Photos Kim Kardashian Gets Waxed

Enrique Iglesias Says Duet With ‘The Situation’ Would Be ‘Fun’

‘A lot of it comes down to the song,’ the singer says of collaborating with the ‘Jersey Shore’ star. By Mawuse Ziegbe Enrique Iglesias in his “I Like It” music video Photo: Interscope It appears Enrique Iglesias and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino have really hit it off. After the cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” worked their fist-pumping skills in Iglesias’ video for “I Like It” (also featuring Pitbull), the Latin hitaker says he’d totally be open to a collaboration with the ab-tastic “Shore” star. “I wouldn’t mind it,” Iglesias told E! Online about teaming with the Situation for a track. Sorrentino has been branching out from his gym, tanning and laundry duties, dropping a Baltimore club-influenced single called “The Situation Rap,” replete with wheezing alarms and Fatman Scoop’s amped-up hollers. Iglesias explained that a potential collaboration hinged on the type of track they came up with, but conceded that hooking up with Sorrentino would be a blast. “I mean, a lot of it comes down to the song,” Iglesias said. “But it would be fun!” And the “Jersey Shore” crew definitely brings the rowdiness to Iglesias’ “I Like It” video. The gelled-up, overly tanned collective concocts madcap ways to sneak into an Enrique concert, including seducing security guards and posing as roadies. The clip follows the reality TV partiers as they lead the crowd in a rousing round of fist-pumping, with Pauly D jumping on the wheels of steel and the Sitch, of course, whipping off his shirt. While shooting the video, Snooki told MTV News that “I Like It” captures the crew’s rambunctious spirit. “When everybody sees this music video, they’re pretty much gonna realize that we’re a bunch of nut jobs, just trying to crash Enrique’s concert.” For his part, Iglesias was down for the debauchery. “Let’s go out there and have some fun,” the pop star told MTV News. “It’s the kids from the ‘Jersey Shore.’ What else would you ask for?” Iglesias also told E! that the “Shore” kids may bring the craziness onscreen but behind the scenes, the crew kept the controversy to a minimum. “You watch the show and you see all this drama and all these fights and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, all of this is going to be going on during the video!’ It wasn’t like that at all,” Iglesias said. “Once I got to hang out with them, the guys were so nice and I’m actually a big fan now.” Even if a Situation-Iglesias collabo doesn’t happen, fans can still bump some Jersey-approved tunes with the Jersey Shore Soundtrack, set for a July 20 release. The album includes “I Like It,” as well as party-starting tracks by Akon, Lil Jon, LMFAO, and Taio Cruz. The “Jersey Shore” season-one uncensored DVD will be available the same day. Would you like to see an Enrique/Situation collaboration? Tell us in the comments! Don’t miss the Jersey Shore Soundtrack, available July 20. Season two of “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday, July 29, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Be there!
