Mitt Romney Wins Decisive Victory In Illinois Primary

Romney beat Rick Santorum by double digits in Tuesday’s primary. By Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney at his Illinois primary night party Photo: AFP Mitt Romney strung together two solid victories in a row on Tuesday night when he pulled off a decisive win in the Illinois presidential primary, the latest in a series of “must-win” contests in the GOP race to the White House. The former Massachusetts Governor is likely to pull in at least 41 of the 54 delegates at stake following his win over rival Rick Santorum, who he beat by a 47 to 35 percent margin. The other two candidates in the race, Texas congressman Ron Paul and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich hardly campaigned in the state and came in a distant third and fourth, with, respectively, 9 and 8 percent of the vote. “We thank the people of Illinois for this extraordinary victory,” Romney said to supporters gathered in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, according to CNN. “Elections are about choices. Today, hundreds of thousands of people in Illinois joined millions of people in this country in this cause.” If he gets 41 delegates, Romney’s total to date is 562, which puts him halfway toward the goal of 1,144 needed to clinch the GOP nomination. Once again, he turned his attention away from his fellow candidates an onto President Obama in his victory speech, saying, “It’s time to say this word: enough. We’ve had enough … We know our future’s brighter than these troubled times. We still believe in America, and we deserve a president who believes in us, and I believe in the American people.” Romney was feeling bullish after his huge victory in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico on Saturday, where he took more than 83 percent of the vote and likely all 20 delegates. Pundits said he needed a solid victory in Obama’s former home state in order to tamp down the growing buzz about the potential for a contested GOP convention in August should he fail to get enough delegates to close the deal before then. Though he had a rough week — which included gaffes in P.R. in which he said the nation needs to adopt English as its official language to gain statehood and a remark on Monday in which he claimed the unemployment rate “doesn’t matter to me” — Santorum was still defiant after his Illinois loss. “This is an election about fundamental and foundational things,” the former Pennsylvania Senator said during a gathering in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. “This is an election about not who’s the best person to manage Washington or manage the economy. We don’t need a manager, we need someone who’s going to pull government up by the roots and do something to liberate the private sector in America.” The race now moves on to Louisiana on Saturday, where, once again, Romney will attempt to prove that he can appeal to the party’s conservative base and that he can win in the South. Demi Lovato: ‘Stay Strong’ Doc Shows Life ‘In My Shoes’

‘I was most definitely nervous about opening up to the cameras,’ Lovato admits of documentary airing Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV Demi Lovato will let fans into her life when her documentary “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong” premieres March 6 on MTV. Cameras follow Lovato as she tours, goes back to visit the Illinois rehab center where she was treated, and opens up in great detail about her life post-treatment. While Lovatics got a preview of what’s to come from the trailer that dropped a few weeks back, the full picture of Demi’s struggles and her life right now will be revealed when the “Stay Strong” airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Lovato talked to MTV News this week about why she signed on for the doc. “I was most definitely nervous about opening up to the cameras,” she said. “And I was very hesitant to say certain things, but once I was around them for a while, I felt more comfortable and really opened up towards them.” The special goes deep. Demi talks candidly about her issues, from being diagnosed with bipolar disorder to struggling with both cutting and eating disorders. The singer/actress hopes the documentary can help anyone else dealing with similar kinds of pain. “My goals for my fans? It’s to really inspire people,” she said. “That’s all I hope to accomplish. If there is a young girl at home dealing with the same issues that I’m dealing with, I want to be able to reach out to her and tell her that it’s going to be OK. “You know, I speak about a lot of serious issues and I really hope to get awareness out there about the issues that I dealt with,” she continued. “But at the end of the day, I just want people to see what it’s like to be in my shoes. I kind of talked about the journey that I’ve been on and I just want people to take away a positive message. It gets better, you know?” The special is named after a pair of tattoos Demi has on her wrists that read “Stay Strong.” The tats are a tribute to the fans that Lovato said sent her that very message while she was in treatment. Don’t miss “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong,” debuting Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Demi Lovato: A Look Back At Her Big 2011

This year saw the Disney star experiencing professional and personal breakthroughs. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: Denise Truscello/ Getty Images Demi Lovato will be on hand for MTV’s New Year’s Eve festivities to rock the night with a performance. But before the party kicks off, it seems fitting to look back on her big 2011, which wasn’t just a banner year for Lovato’s career, but also her personal life. After leaving treatment in January, Lovato opened up about her issues (which included eating disorders and self-mutilation) and was on the mend. She thanked her fans for standing by her while she sought treatment and focused on getting healthy. “I can’t tell you how much light you brought into my life in probably the darkest time of my life,” Lovato said shortly after being released. “Without you guys I wouldn’t be here today.” The former Disney princess decided to step away from her Hollywood career to focus on her pop career when she left her hit Disney show “Sonny With a Chance.” ” ‘Sonny’ was a chapter in my life I will be forever grateful for,” she said in April. “Thank you all for watching.” By July, she was fully in pop-star mode, dropping not only the single for “Skyscraper” but also the equally empowering video for the stirring ballad. “I’ve been pretty honest,” Lovato told MTV News about the track. “My whole journey has been about telling my story and hoping that when I share my story, it inspires somebody. So when I decided to come out with a single that was honest and about my journey and about standing strong and tall like a skyscraper, I hope that it inspired people. “I thought that there was a bigger opportunity for me to come out with a song that would inspire people, rather than it be just another dance song on the radio,” she added. The song was the lead single off Unbroken, which she dropped in September. “I think it’s grown-up, but it’s not too grown-up,” Lovato explained about the album. “It’s not tasteless. It’s growing up with my fans. It’s [like] I’m not a kid anymore, but I’m also not a full-grown woman either. So I’m in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I’m figuring it out, just like my fans are.” In addition to causing a stir with her own music, Lovato had everyone going crazy over her cover of Lil Wayne’s “How to Love.” She also performed a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem at the World Series and recently returned to the Illinois treatment center where she spent time as a guest speaker . As the year wraps up, Lovato’s fans will have a new single to look forward to, the feel-good track “Give Your Heart a Break.” Related Videos Demi Lovato’s Year In Review

Jesus Take The Wheel: Illinois Woman Murks Boyfriend And Three Kids, Including 10-Month-Old Baby At Point Blank Range Before Turning Gun On Herself

An Illinois mother shot and killed her 10-month-old baby daughter at point blank range while a horrified neighbor looked on. She then turned the gun on herself in a chilling murder-suicide that left five people dead. According To RadarOnline reports : Sara McMeen, 30, was found dead at her home in the small farming town of Emington on Friday afternoon. Livingston County Coroner Michael Burke said that the woman’s two older children; Skyler Lemke, 8, Ian Lemke, 7, and her live-in boyfriend, Daniel Warren, 29, had been murdered as well. Warren was the father of McMeen’s infant daughter Maggie. Sheriff Martin Meredith revealed that a semi-automatic pistol was recovered at the scene and called the situation “very gut-wrenching.” A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told the Pontiac Daily Reader that she heard around five gunshots around 2.30pm and ran outside to see what was going on. “I saw my neighbor in the back yard and she was wrapping her baby daughter in a blanket on the ground,” the woman recalled. “At first I thought maybe she had been startled and dropped her daughter. I asked her if everything was OK. She said, ‘No, everything is not OK.’ “She was standing over the baby and she bent at the waist and shot point-blank. I instinctively ran. I just couldn’t believe it.” Neighbors revealed that the young family had only moved into the area a few months ago and that while the children were delightful, they heard arguments sometimes between the two adults. The investigation is continuing. So sad. Sounds like she just lost it. More On Bossip! More Basketball Wives Beef!!!
